Top Ten Memories Poetry Workshop with Bethany Saltman, a Writers in
the Mountains Workshop.

Inspired by an assignment given by Allen Ginsberg to his MFA
students, this weekend workshop will explore the relationship between
memory, imagination, and image in poetry. Students will begin the
weekend by mining their own experience (real, unreal, or somewhere in
between) in order to write short poems. The next step will be to
imagine the memories of others--our mothers, children, or favorite
trees. Students will come away from the weekend with several short
poems as well as fresh perspective.  Saltman is a writer and teacher,
living in Woodstock, whose poems have appeared  in many literary
publications.

Food for Thought with Ann Epner, a Writers in the Mountains workshop.

Let's face it. In the winter we are obsessed with food - whether it's
the cooking of savory stews, hearty soups and other comfort foods, or
regretting our holiday excesses and eschewing sweets and fats. What
we ate as children had an important role in who we grew up to be. In
this class you'll have an opportunity to indulge all your thoughts,
feelings and memories about food. We'll read some of the classic and
contemporary writings on food, and bring to class original poems,
essays, short stories, recipes - whatever best expresses your
relationship with food.  No previous writing experience required.
