ifaid inte  multiple-sclerosis bee BVT day-by-day account of a person with ms experimenting with bee venom therapy alternative-medicine Apitherapy

Day 1858 11:32 a.m. - June 4, 2002 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my thighs, knees, calves, ankles and feet.

Started and stung 3x on the front of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each knee. Then, 2x on the outside of each calve. Then, 1x on the front crease of each ankle and finally 1x on the outside of each ankle.

Felt good today and spent some quality time on the computer doing what it is that needs to be done. I suppose that is what "living" is all about.
Gavin, my 18-year-old son, will be graduating from high school in a week or two and then he'll be going onto Binghamton University. He will begin taking classes this summer and I am missing him already. The empty nest syndrome?
And my 16-year-old daughter, Katrina, has just gotten her learners permit and I am teaching her to drive. I'm not driving anymore myself and to have the kids drive me around is nice. But I know that it won't last too long. Man, time does move on!

Now, here's an e-mail from someone looking to be of assistance to others. Nanon writes:

"...I have just begun therapy on my husband who has MS. So far it has taken
away all swelling in the legs and ankle area. This is caused from being
in a wheel chair to much for to long. I am a teacher and I have 5
children and now I am also a Bee Keeper. I would like to offer Bee Venom
therapy to people who live near me. I do not work all summer and would
like to make some money, but I also want to be fair. What are the going
rates for Bees and stings? Thank you
"Nanon

I don't know what people charge for stinging other people. But the fact of the matter is Nanon sees just how bee venom therapy is helping her with husband's body wake up. She is willing and anxious to help others. I would think if someone is close by to where they live this could be a perfect situation.
It might be worth the time to drop her e-mail and perhaps get firsthand from a Nanoon just how the BVT treatment is working on her husband. As I say, it's not a cure but it can do wonders for certain lucky individuals.

Day 1866 9:32 a.m. - June 12, 2002 EST

Stung 12x yestersay morning on my sides, buttocks, hip and hands.

Started on my sides below the crack of the armpit and stung 3x down either side. Then, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x on each hand - beside the pinky finger.

The weather here has been awfully humid and as I have said before, humidity really drags me down. Fortunately, I have air-conditioning in my bedroom so that I can retreat and cool down. I also use cold wet neckerchiefs which I tie around my neck which helps me feel better - cooler and more alive and alert.
The bees and the stinging - although it always helps the fatigue doesn't do much to counter effect the humidity. Only "cold" in one form or another works for me. I know that "coldness" does not work for some other folks but I have always responded positively when lowering my body temperature. The nature of this "dis-ease" - what works for some does nothing for others.

Now here's an e-mail from a young lady who loves her mom so much. Melissa writes:

". . . My mother has been
living with MS for about the past eight years. I've been taking care of
her since I was fourteen, of course with the help of the visiting nurses
and my sister once in a while. But, much of the responsibility has been
on me. Now don't get me wrong, I would help my mother to the end of
eternity, but I would like to see something happen where she wouldn't
have to depend on so many people. There is something about her that is
missing, a type of glow that she always had before she had to be in he
wheelchair all the time.. . . I also read your very last page of your journal
[and] noticed you were stung many times in different parts of your body. Is
this something you had to do? if so, does this mean that maybe one day
the bee venom will no longer be effective. i would love to try this
therapy with my mother. i would trade anything in the world to be able
to see her walk again. but i need to know if this therapy is going to be
something that's going to be there for a while not for just a couple of
years. thank you so much. . . ''

Melissa Buitrago

Melissa is a very caring and sensitive individual. Seeing her mother living with MS is indeed living with it yourself. I am only now beginning to realize how my disability and have this multiple sclerosis must affect my children as well. Hopefully, it is a growing and positive life experience for them. I've written to Melissa and tried to explain about bee venom therapy. That it's not a cure. That it doesn't affect everyone in the same way. And perhaps her mother will improve to the point that she will be walking on our own again. It can happen! But the key thing is that the bee venom therapy improves the quality of one's life - at least, of my life. It makes day-to-day living just a bit more bearable. Perhaps if you're so inclined drop her an e-mail and share what you know or have experienced through this therapy. Maybe what you have to say well make a world of difference in how Melissa perceives the situation and help her to make the right choice for her mother, herself and the rest of her supportive and loving family.

Day 1876 1:39 p.m. - June 22, 2002 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my sides, back, hip, thighs, calves and feet.

Started and stung 1x on each hip. Then, 2x on the outside of each thigh and 1x on each calve. 2x on each foot- above the large toe and behind each ankle. Then, 2x on the sides of my back.

Alot has been going on this week with the bee hives out bak. John McCoy, the beekeeper from Franklin Mountain, came by yesterday with 14 new beehives! and arrangement is that the honey and the mayonnaise of the hives are all this responsibility and exchange and allowed the use of the bees. Last year can admire 11hives didn't make it through the winter and meet that it up in the air as to whether or not heed the replacing those hires this new ones. Well, much to my delight, it happened.

John will also be putting an electric fence around the hives so as to protect them from roaming bears. That's right - BEARS! i had heard rumors about bears but didn't take it seriously - let alone bears right here on my property. But with 15 beehives it's a real attraction! Anyway, I'm hyped and really excited because bee venom therapy really works for me and in a weird way it is comforting having all those bees buzzing around in the back.

Also, I took advantage of John being here and gave him the mayonnaise jar to fill up and man, did he ever fill it up! Hundreds of bees - so many that Carol has resurrected the old bee hotel. She's cleaned it up and hopefully it will work well, keeping the bees alive and happy. Summer is here!

Day 1882 11:21 a.m. - June 28, 2002 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my thighs, knees, calves, feet and hands.

Started and stung 2x on the inside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the inside of each knee. Then, 2x on the back of each calf and 1x atop each foot. Finally, 1x on each hand - between thumb and index finger.

With all the bees in the bee hotel and I decided to sting last night before going to bed. Don't do that to often but awoke this morning feeling less stiff than usual.

Gavin will be graduating this weekend from high school and there are plenty of activities planned in celebration. The weather promises to be nice and warm so I figure I might as well get myself ready by stinging. The more often i sting the better off I am.

I have not as of yet gone into the pond. I don't know why but I am a bit more cautious about doing things physical, like just scooting down to the pond and jumping in, as I have always done in the past. Perhaps it is because I've been hearing too many stories about people with MS falling, choking and drowning unexpectedly. Fighters, as in the case of my dear cyber friend Fred who fell down a flight of stairs and was killed . Although I know my fears are silly and ungrounded I have not ventured in and will wait until Gavin or someone bigger than myself is down there with me. I'm sure after the first time this season I'll be more confident and rational.

Here is an e-mail from someone who has been into bee venom therapy for a while. Johanne writes;

. . . well I started BVT again after a 2 year stop. Remember me, I'm the one who did the the
Controlling Bees in a Jar - A Construction Plan on your site.
I was trying [experimenting] Goodshape's hsitamine and AMP treatments - to see if this would work well for those in my area who are afraid to try BVT. Well only one person tried the alternatives so now I'm going back to taking care of myself. . .
take care
Johanne BZZZ

I really appreciated getting this e-mail and indeed I will keep the histamine option on the back burner. One never knows - what works for one may or may not work for another. But I am most impressed with the willingness to go back to what works.

It is very hard to stay on track with this therapy and even more difficult to go back to it after stopping. Because stinging is just not a normal thing to be doing. But when you feel some real relief - and know it to be true - it's hard to forget about. But support is the key and often times an e-mail from a sincere interested other is all it takes. I really admire Johanne's coverage.

Day 1888 1:01 p.m. - July 4, 2002 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my buttocks, legs and feet. Started and stung 1x on each buttock. Then, stung 2x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x below each kneecap. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve. Then, 2x on each foot. 1x above the large toe and 1x on the outside and behind each ankle bone.

Well, good news is that the bee hotel seems to be working pretty well and my daughter Katrina, 16, was nice enough to sting me yesterday afternoon. It definitely felt good. The weather here has been extremely hot and humid close to 100 Fahrenheit. I have been in the pond a few times to cool off. My son Gavin, 18, was with me which made me feel much more secure. Getting into and getting out of the pond was a bit more difficult. My problem is with my feet as I "schlepp " out. I really scraped my toes. I added a truck load of sand thinking this would be better than the stones and pebbles but, I may have been mistaken. I am going to have to reconsider my options.

My son Gavin graduated high school this week and it was good to have the energy to spend time with family and friends and be part of the events.

Now, here's a letter from a concerned daughter. Angela writes;

Hi, My name is Angela and I have a 59 1/2 mother with MS. It has progressed severely in the past 3 years. She has a hard time seeing, walking, and balancing. She is confined to a bed all the time only getting help to go to the bathroom or a chair. I recently saw on T.V. a show about the bee sting therapy. I am intrested in finding out about this for my mother. Her mother had MS and it scares her knowing what lays ahead. They want to put her on chemo therapy to stop the progression of this devilish disease. I just wish I could help my mom. Seeing anyone live like this hurts me. Can you give me advice and knowledge on what I have to do to get information on the Bee therapy? Thank you, Love and Light Angela

I wrote Angela back and I really love hearing from children of those with this "dis-ease ". They know firsthand what it's like and their support and their love is always a key factor in dealing with MS or any kind of disorderr which is as unpredictable as the weather. One day one may feel great and the next day - well, I don't have to tell you. But when you have supportive family that consistency can go a very long way. If grounds you to reality. And oftentimes an e-mail from someone who is going through a similar experience can be very comforting and meaningful. For everyone.

Day 1898 4:19 p.m. - July 14, 2002 EST

Stung 18x yesterday on my hips, thighs, knees, ankles and elbows and hands.

Started and stung 1x on each hip. Then, 2x on the outside of each thigh and 1x on each side of each knee. Then, 1x on the inside of each ankle and finally 1x on the side of each elbow.

The weather continues to be be hot and the session really perked me up - what a difference!

John McCoy, the beekeeper from Franklin Mountain who keeps some of his hives on my property in exchange for allowing me the use of the bees, came by last night to set up the remaining five hives. With a total of 15 hives out back I will never be far from a stinging session.
It had been too long since I had stung last. Whenever I sting the difference I feel is always so marked. But as I say, my natural inclination seems always to postpone it for - later. Again, I've been in the pond only when my son Gavin, 18, is around. But I'm still working on options - especially for "schlepping" myself in and out without scraping my toes. I can use water shoes but I don't like swimming with them. My feet are heavy enough without them.

Here is an e-mail from a woman who knows about MS first- hand. Laura writes:

". . . I live in Valencia California [by Magic Mountain] and my mother-in-law is almost 70 and has been living with severe MS for a little over 20 years. Since I have been on the "scene" [over ten years now], her CP has turned into RR and she is pretty stable [has had about 2-3 "episodes" in 10 years]. She is completely bed-bound and can't even sit in a wheelchair [her muscles have atrophied and she can't hold herself up without severe fatigue - the last time we put her in a wheelchair was almost 3 years ago and she slept for 3 days after 5 minutes in the chair. We felt horrible]. Do you know of anyone who is this far "down the road" who is trying or has tried the BVT and what results they have seen? Also, do you know of anyone in our area that does BVT? Any help or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. It would be nice to see her actually hold her grandkids. Thank you for your time. Laura

Laura's mother-in-law is indeed a very blessed woman to be living with a family that obviously loves her so very much. She is going through a heck of a life dealing with this "dis-ease" and my heart goes out for her. But who knows, this therapy works really well on females and perhaps a few stings might really make a world of difference - for her - for the entire family. I've written Laura and perhaps there are others who either live near Laura or can relate to the experience they are going through. for these people, it's truly a family affair. I have a lot of respect and admiration for this family. My heart and blessings go out to all of them. Maybe you can make a difference in their lives.

Day 1906 11:19 a.m. - July 22, 2002 EST

Stung 12x yesterday morning on my arms. thighs, calves hip and feet.

Started and stung 1x on the side of each thigh, Then, 1x on the inside of each ankle and 1x atop each foot - above the large toe. Then, 1x on each calf and finally 1x on each hip.

Carol and I hosted a party this past week for our "classics" reading group. After deciding on and then reading a piece of literature, we alternate having dinner at one of our homes where we share our thoughts and discuss the book. The majority of the group are professors of English or literature and Carol and I, Gavin and Katrina, have been and are indeed fortunate to be participants.

John McCoy, the beekeeper, came by Thursday and set up the electric fence around the hives and showed Carol and Katrina how to disconnect the voltage when they need to get inside so as to get bees. Gavin is already taking some summer courses in college and of course we're missing him.

And yesterday, my family came up to visit for the afternoon - 2 of my sisters and several of their children along with my parents - and with all the activity and humid weather I'm happy to say I had a really great time. In essence, I had the energy to entertain and socialize and do the things that make life worth living. Loving the ones you're with. and I have to thank bee venom therapy for supplying me with the impetus and energy.

Here are a few e-mails from people who are looking to get into the loop.

"r u aware of any bee sting therapy in areas of tulsa, ok - or st louis."
JMDickey55@aol.com

and...
"I LIVE IN MESA, AZ AND HAVE MS. HOW DO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT BVT AND WHERE YOU CAN START THERAPY. THANKS
," ROBERT HARRISON

if there are others who live nearby or perhaps have something to share with these people why not drop them an e-mail. I know they'll be glad you did!

Day 1915 2:46 p.m. - July 31, 2002 EST

Stung 18x yesterday morning on my back, thighs, hips, neck, elbows and arms.

Started and stung 3x down either side of my torso. Then, stung 2x atop each thigh and 1x on each hip. Then, 1x on each side of the neck - and then 1x on the outside of each elbow. Finally, 1x atop each arm.

Although the weather has been hot and muggy I agreed to take Katrina, my 16-year-old daughter, to see the new Austin Powers film yesterday - very funmy movie but I find it hard to believe that it is rated PG-13.

We spent the afternoon browsing the local mall and had lunch at the local Wendy's (her favorite junk food palace) before making a stop at RadioShack to pick up some computer stuff.

Lots of bees out back, lots of beautiful flowers and of course as usual, waiting way too long between Sting sessions. But it's never too late and it's always rewarding. Gavin, my 18-year-old, will be back from college next week for the month of August. With him around I hope to do more swimming in the pond than I have been.

You must check out this article written about my good close cyber buddy, Wally. He's an author and committed advocate who just "keeps on keeping on!" He deals with this "dis-ease" on a day in and day out basis yet always has the inclination and energy to do good work for others. Indeed, a man to admire.

Day 1923 12:30 p.m. - August 8, 2002 EST

Stung 17x this morning on my back, thighs, feet, buttocks, hands, elbows and neck.

Started and stung 2x on either side of my back - around by the waist. Then, 1x on the outside of each elbow and 1x on each hand - between the thumb and index finger. Then, 1x on each buttock, 1x atop each thigh and 1x on the outside of each knee and 1x atop each foot. Finally, 1x on the right side of my neck.

Been looking forward to stinging over the past week. The weather has been very, very humid and hot but today it's perfect. Low 70's and crisp.. Was down to the pond a few times but getting in and out is not as easy when the weather is so hot and it's too much work and just not worth the effort. I'd rather just work on the computer and that's okay because there is much to do. Anyway, after today's stinging session I feel much better than I have felt all week. More energy, more strength and an ability to move around and do what it is a person wants to do.I think it's called, living!

My good and dear friend Irwin - who had suffered a stroke in March - will be coming home from the hospital- rehabilitation center today. He is not altogether yet, but will have a 24-hour companion to assist him until he can get by once again on his own. The exciting thing is that every day and in every way he will be improving, getting better and better. Irwin Hollander, an incredibly talented artist, lives and creates right down the road from me and I am very excited by his return. He has been missed and with the help of God, he will have a complete and total recovery.

Here's an e-mail from a person who has had some interesting results. Theywrite:

". . . I read a post by a man asking about topical applications for BVT. I successfully switched from stinging with live bees (20 stings, 3 times per week, I did this for over 6 years) to applying an oil containing dried bee venom. I apply the oil daily. Have you heard about or used this application. I think it's the greatest, I don't miss the stings at all. Oh, I have multiple sclerosis but have stopped its progress with BVT. I'd love some feedback! . . . " Rita

Well, I can only say that I will have to give that oil containing dried bee venom a try. I know that Ferris - Bees by Mail as well as other places carry this sort of item and with a recommendation such as this I will definitely have to try it out in the near future. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Day 1931 1:13 p.m. - August 17, 2002 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my sides, shoulders, hands and chest.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, stung 2x down either side. Then, 1x on eirther side the chest - just below the crack of the armpit. And finally, 1x on the side of each hand and 1x between thumb and index finger.

So, the heat and humidity continues throughout the Northeast with record breaking the highs. Continue to feel the difference and do what I can to keep my body temperature low. Swimming in the pond is good and so are cold showers and even just keeping my hair and head wet.

Once again, felt really energized after my stinging session. My hands have been feeling a bit tight and after stinging they swelled up a bit. But as the day wore on the swelling went down and I seem to have regained more dexterityin my fingers than I had before having stung.

My good friend Irwin is back and we had him and Victor, his 24/7 aid, and some other friends over for dinner a few days ago. It was great to see him again and although he has a ways to go the good news is recovery after a stroke is attainable. It's not easy but nothing is.

He uses a wheelchair which he pushes around by using his left foot and hand. Fortunately, Irwin is a lefty. God works in strange ways. He must "feel" so very frustrated. . . and I can certainly relate to that! The toughest thing for him must be his difficulty in communicating - speaking.

He only expresses himself with the the words, "go-ga-go". He just talks and chats as though everyone knows what he's ta;ling about - or responding to. You say ". . .whatever" and his respone; - "ga-go-go-ga! Go-go ga ga . .". I wonder whether or not he thinks he's actually making any intelligible words. The intonations and conversing style are all there but the words are just "go-ga-go-go... ". Hey, if anyone has any insight on strokes and is inclined to share it, I'm open.

Day 1939 9:55 a.m. - August 25, 2002 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my buttocks, thighs, claves feet and shoulders.

Started and stung 1x on each buttock. Then, 2x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve. Then, 2x on each foot - 1x atop the foot on the crease and 1x above the large toe. Finally, 1x on each shoulder.

Have seen Irwin a few times and still trying to figure it all out. I have not as yet really spent any real time alone with him and when I do I hope that it will make a real difference in both our lives. UndoubtedlyI will have to understand more as to where his head is. I've received some interesting e-mail with thoughts and suggestions in regard to strokes. There is an online network of stroke survivors at: The Stroke Network.org. I recommend this site for its honesty and helpful insight into the brain of a stroke survivor. A super support group.

The weather has been more pleasant and I have had some wonderful afternoons in the pond. and sure enough summer will be over as soon as I get back in the groove. that's life!

Here is an e-mail from Diana asking the all-important question. Diane writes:

" . . . I'm having trouble keeping my bees alive in the jar. I am using the method with the jar, honey, tissue paper, and cylinder in the middle. It worked well for the first few weeks but now they seem to die quickly. Any helpful hints or ideas? . . .
"Thanks------ Diane

I've responded but I know that there are so many variables that I thought that perhaps some personal feedback from others might prove to be quite valuable to Diane.

Day 1949 11:35 a.m. - September 4, 2002 EST

Stung 17x yesterday morning on my back, knees, calves, feet and belly.

Started and stung 3x down either side of the spine - approx. 5" from spine. Then, stung 1x on the front of each thigh and 1x on the outside of each calve and 1x on the outside in each kneecap. Then, 2x on each foot - above the large toe and 1x along the side. Finally, 1x just above the belly button.

John McCoy, the beekeeper from Franklin Mt. was here yesterday caring for his bees. He was kind enough to scoop up a jar full of bees for us. it is so much easier - and faster - for him than for anyone else. He just digs in and scoops 'em out - so many in fact that Carol immediately transfered them into the bee hotel - dumping them right in - toilet paper roll and all. There were just too many (at least three or four hundred and) in the jar. They will definitely have a better chance of surviving longer in the hotel environment than in the mayonnaise jar.The hotel is really good - especially during the winter - it's just a little tricky getting them out.

Felt tired - feelings of fatigue - over the past weekend, perhaps a bit more socializing than usual but it was the last weekend of this summer. The bee stings in the morning were certainly helpful and perhaps . . . I should have stung more.

Gavin, my 18-year-old, is now full time at Binghamton University but in this age of computers and ICQ he's never too far for an eletronic chat at the click of a mouse. It's a very different world than when I was in school.

Here's an e-mail from a "take charge" kind of lady. Martha writes:

". . . I came across your journal while researching bee venom. I have multiple sclerosis too, diagnosed three months ago. I've decided not to go the "industrial" route--interferon--because of its toxicity. Instead I'm going holistic (which sounds suspiciously like ballistic [:-)] . My osteopath has me on homeopathic injections of mistletoe and bee venom twice a week. Also vitamin, essential fatty acid and lipoic acid supplements; raw/living diet; yoga; and spiritual counseling ("EXPERIENCE your condition!") I can hardly not experience it; it's changed my life completely. So far I'm feeling great, better than ever, except for the weak and wobbly legs. And I'm still dancing. By the way, I'm 51 years old, so something else is probably going to get me before my "adventure" does. [:-)] . . .

Keep the faith! I admire your perseverance, and I'm with you in spirit. Martha

What a great letter! Martha is taking control of her situation and doing all that she can with what there is. She's decided to experiment with bee venom therapy in a way that feels right to her and in a way that suits her lifestyle. There simply isn't any one way to administer this therapy - although Pat Wagner's how-to manual, "How Well are you Willing to Bee" is a great guide for the beginner.

Not very much about this "dis-ease" is universal or predictable. in essence, we're all destined to look at our individualI situation and predicament head-on, evaluate our options, do what we can and than go on living life to the best of our ability. Martha sounds like a very intelligence woman with lots to offer. Something tells me she's a born winner. I wish her well and support her strength and determination.

Day 1960 4:43 p.m. - September 14, 2002

Stung 18x on Friday, on my shoulders, back, arms and hands.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 3x down either side of the spine. Then, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x on each upper arm and 1x on each forearm and finally 1x on each hand - between thumb and index finger.

The stings really had me feeling terrific. Had picked up Gavin in Binghamton Friday. Carol and I had a very nice drive and then a delicious vegetarian lunch with Gavin. It has been a while since I've been around college students - rubbing shoulders with the bright and beautiful We had lunch at a typical student-type restaurant near the campus and we all had a really good time. Just watching my 18-year-old boy interact in this environment, in his own world, was great to see. And great to be part of. It's what life is all about. And it's why I remain so committed to this bee venom therapy after so many years. And I know that yes, stinging every day or every other day would undoubtedly have me feeling and functioning at my peak. But it's just more than I could orchestrate in my life. Like I say, we all do what we can.

Now, here's an e-mail from someone who is looking for asupport. Phyllis writes;

" . . my name is and i live in Stroudsburg Pennsylvanna i have progresive M.S. and i want to know if any one knows about some kind of bee keeper around in my area or how to go about in doing this proccess . . ." Phylis

I think, more than anything Phyllis is looking to hear from others who have really undertaken the challenge of this therapy. Euccessfully or not. I can just feel that she's ready to do something to improve quality of her life and to take matters in her own hands. But sometimes it's hard to get off the fence and even more difficult to decide on just what to do. There is no cure for this ''dis-ease'' and there are no guarantees no matter what one decides to to do or, not do.

I have written to Phyllis but my experience is only my experiments. Everyone who experiments with bee venom therapy has something to offer. and even those who have not experimented with bee venom therapy, I'm sure in their experience with MS they offer their own unique perspective.

Finally, I want to make mention of my dear departed cyber-friend Judy Alvarez who passed away two years ago on this day. I had never met Judy but she was committed to BVT and started a support group in the Rocky Mountains - the "Rocky Mountain Hives" I think . She suffered tremendously but with great dignity and selflessness.

Day 1971 10:33 a.m. - September 25, 2002

Stung 16X this morning on my shoulders, sides, buttocks, thighs and elbows.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 3x down either side. Then 1x on each buttock and 1x on each thigh. Finally, 1x on the outside of each elbow.

I have been feeling pretty good this past week. The stings this morning - especially those on my shoulders - sure did hurt for a few seconds, but in a good way. The session has me feeling energetic and looser - less stiff - able to stretch my fingers, hands and arms further.

My wife Carol, myself and my daughter Katrina (16) are planning on a trip to Pennsylvania this weekend to visit one of my best & favorite cyber-clients, Charlie. Charlie sells all sorts of electric scooters and power chairs and other mobility devices on the Internet had incredibly low prices. And he offers even greater discounts at his warehouse showroom in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Our plan is to visit with Charlie and his family, pick up a new electrics scooter and perhaps go to a live performance of some kind in Harrisburg the state Capitol. Living out in the country as we do we try to take advantage of cultural activities whenever journeying outward into the ''world''. It's what living is all about!

Here is an e-mail from a woman looking for some help and support in getting started. Lainey writes:

'' . . .I was wondering if you knew of anyone in the Michigan area that could help me with bee venom therapy? Any info that you have would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!'' Lainey Dyer

Well, I've written her suggesting some reading material on bee venom therapy but if there is anyone in the Michigan area (Michigan's a pretty big state though!) perhaps drop Lainey an e-mail. Who knows? She may live right next door!

And here is an e-mail from fellow who just . . .wants to help. Gary writes:

''. . . I have lucked into a wild bee hive nearby my home. I do not want to kill or disrupt them; however, if bees are needed by others, I'd love to know how to collect and distribute them to people in my area. I live in Dallas, Tx and would like to find out if my meager contribution would be useful. How, or where, should I look? ' . . . ' Gary

If you're located somewhere in the Dallas area and are of the ''adventurous type'', perhaps Gary's lucky find can be your good fortune!

Day 1981 6:22 p.m. - October 5, 2002

Stung 8x this morning on my thighs, shoulders, hands and buttocks.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 1x on each thigh, 1x on buttockand finally 1x on each hand - between thumb and index finger.

Well, the summer is over although the weather is still unseasonably warm. The Lisa are only just beginning to turn and fall.

Things in regard to the computer and design work have really begun to demand more of my time and energy. I'm not complaining but working for too many hours, without coming up for air, does tend to stiffen me up - especially my arms and hands and fingers.
And yes, the bees do offer relief but I still cannot seem to get into a routine of stinging every day or every other day. BVT does work but as I always say - it is a most difficult routine to maintain. And on a day in day out basis - at the moment - from me anyway - it's an impossibility. But desperate times call for desperate measures and if and when it becomes the order of the day well, who knows? at least I know that it works.

Tomorrow Carol and I are planning to go to Binghamton and spend a few hours with Gavin. Will have lunch with him and it should be fun.

Day 1992 4:52 p.m. - October 16, 2002

Stung 16x this morning on my shoulders, back, thighs, knees, and arms.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 2x on either side of the back just below the shoulder. Then, 1x on the inside of each thigh and 1x on the front of each knee. Then, 1x on each calve and 1x on the outside of each arm.

Again, the stings this morning really hit the spot. It's been real humid with buckets of rain for the last few days which always brings out the fatigue in me. After this session, Carol I went to Rob, our hair " designer" . This weekend we will be spending a few days together with my family in a hotel in the Catskill Mountains. My sister's son is celebrating his 13th birthday and will have his bar mitzvah - a sort of coming of age ritual in the Jewish religion. It should be a good and special time - with all of the family getting together. I look forward to seeing many of my family that I haven't seen in quite a number of years.

Now, I want to call attention to a new Web site on about bee venom therapy. Jean writes:

I have MS since 1999 and have been doing BVT for the last 14 months with the therapist Roch Domerego (Bruxelles, Belgium). I am vey happy with the results that bee venom brings.

I am in the process af buiding a web site to present myself and what I am doing to fight my MS. It is also important for me to share the possiblilities that apitherapy can bring to fight this illness.

I live in France and I think it is very important that the MS web surfer has access to a maximun of information on the suject through links that brings them to other informative sites like yours.

Here is the link to my site SCLEROSE EN PLAQUES ET/ APITHERAPIE

I hope that BVT will become at least as popular here in Europe as it is in the US.

Jean-Michel

I recommend checking out the site. There is a lot of material here. Jean-Michel is very grateful for the relief and benefit bee venom therapy is obviously bringing to the quality of his life. And he's anxious to share the experience with others. I will also add a permanent
link from site for those that are "English Challenged" and perfer French.

I wish Jean much more success and healthy results from BVT as well as success on the web site. it's new and it is still being developed but it is undoubtedly a creation borne of hope and love.

Day 2006 4:52 p.m. - October 30, 2002

Stung 20x this morning on my my elbows, hands, back, hips, thighs, knees and feet.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder and 2x down the back and 1x on each side of the waist. Then, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x atop each thigh and in front of each knee. Then, 1x atop each foot just above the large toe. Finally 1x on the outside of each elbow and 1x on each hand - between the thumb and index finger.

One day leads to another and time moves on. And even realize that in been almost two weeks since my last stinging session. But I'm never disappointed because the results are always the same. My body responds magnificently. More energy, balance, range of motion and the overall willingness and desire to "do things".

Had a really terrific time weekend before last with my family at the hotel in the Catskill's. Spent some really good quality time with my brother and parents and sisters and with everyone else that was there I know there was concern about how I was and how I had been getting along. Well, sure my condition is not what it was when I had seen many of them years ago but I also know that thanks to bee venom therapy I'm doing pretty darn good. I was there, involved, interacting and being "old I can be". In other words, being "Barry" not just" Barry with MS".

I also want to just wish my good cyber friend Ray much success.

Day 2018 8:12 p.m. - Nov. 11 2002

Stung 4x yesterday down the sides of my back.

Started just below my armpits and then stung again 4 inches below that point.
I had plenty of bees in the mayonnaise jar for another session but somehow the jar tipped over onto its side in the cool and dark drawer where we keep them. With the jar resting on its side the honey at the bottom and the toilet paper roll which normally stands upright also falls on to its side, soaking up the honey. As a result, the bees that normally cluster around the cardboard cylinder become honey soaked and drown. So, I used what bees survived and will send Katrina, my 16-year-old, down to the hives for more. But every sting makes a difference and just keeping the venom in my system regardless as to the amount,I believe, is important.
Bee venom therapy is not a cure but I feel it enhances the quality of my life by maximizing my day-to-day" abilities".

Here's a letter from a devoted brother looking to help his sister. Preston writes;

''. . . My sister has MS and is interested in starting BVT. We are located in Western PA. I would like information on BVT and if there are anyone in this area who can provide bee sting venom. . . "
Preston

Well, nothing is more effective (as far as I'm concerned) when it comes to living out and through this "dis-ease" - or any debilitating condition - as the support of friends and family. As long as we're on this plane and on this planet and living this thing called Life, we have a responsibility to care and to be there for one another. Until it is our time to move on I believe it is inherited upon all of us to be a positive, and whenever possible, an active force in the world in which we do our "living".

So if you are located nearby or if you have the impetus to just share your bee venom therapy experience with Preston and his sister it might make a world of difference - for them as well as for you.

Day 2032 10:22 a.m. - Nov. 25, 2002s

Stung 11x yesterday morning on my buttocks, sides, hips hands and stomach.,

Started and stung 1x on the outside of each buttock. Then, 1x atop each thigh and 1x on the outside of each hip. Then, 1x on my left hand - between thumb and index finger - and 2x on my right hand - between thumb and index finger and along the side between my wrist and picky finger. Finally, 1x on my somach below the belly button.

Stinging below the belly button seems to help support my bladder. Although I take excellent medication that helps me control my bladder, whenever I sting that spot just below the belly button the following day I am in in total control.

We had bought tickets several weeks ago to see the musical ''Rocky Horror Picture Show'' at Binghamton University's Anderson Center. Carol, Katrina, (my 16-year-old) and I met Gavin at school B.U. at around 6 p.m., had dinner together before the play. it was a long day but it was worth it. the more important demands I had the energy and wherewithal to go and enjoy. No doubt, the bee stings had a lot to do with it.

We all had a great time and a pleasant experience. The show was a real professional production; lively, energetic with a super talented orchestra. Music was rockin', the performers into it and the costumes were fabulous!

Now, here's an e-mail from someone in England who is definitely on the right track. Malcolm writes:

'' . . I've been reading your journal on the web re BVT but need some help if you klnow where I can get it ? I live in Worthing, Sussex, England, and was diagnosed with 2PMS in 1990 - I'm 52 next week. MS was not a terrible problem for the first few years but slowly gets worse (!) On hearing from the US the benefits of BVT, what I would really like to do is find a BV supplier and self-inject: I don't fancy bee stings and my family suffer from fright of anything that flies & stings ! I started Interferon last month - no good as yet - but I need to taking more anti-MS action. If you can direct me to supplier, ideally in the UK !, I'd bne very very grateful indeed. . . ''
Malcolm

I wrote Malcolm back and told them what I knew in regard to bee venom injections. Basically that - I had been in touch a few years ago - with a judge by the name of John who was using it John had a personal friend, a doctor - who administered it to him. Also, . . . that you would have to have an injection per each bee. Ten shots equals ten bees because the more venom injected in one area the more painful the injection. But again, I don't presumed to andknow the facts.

Anyway, if anyone has any more reliable or useful information why notshare with Malcolm. Heck, share it with me too.
