Day 398 - 05:17- June 5, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my back, arms and wrists.

Started and stung 5x down either side of my back approx. 2" from the spine - from below the shoulders to the buttocks. Then, 1x on either arm and 1x on the outside of either wrist - palms down.

Have been feeling pretty good. The stings on Wednesday were good but maybe "on an as needed basis" refers to the number of stings per session. So today I backed off again on the amount of stings. You know, with 10 hives and so many bees to sting with, one tends to just say - "more". But perhaps that not always the best thing to do.

So what happened to the warm weather here in central NY? We had all sorts of storms and tornadoes which left temperatures in the 50's and 60's with early morning frosts. Carol, my wife, is doing all she can, covering the vegetable plants in the gardens overnight so that we don't lose them. We've got tomatoes, eggplant, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, brussel sprouts, peppers, carrots, lettuce squash, zucchini, cabbage. . . and then some. Carol loves to garden. The weather is nice and energizing but I was just getting used to swimming in the pond.. Hopefully, things will warm up enough again this weekend.

Here's a great letter from another Carol who is helping her husband, Rick, with the Bee Venom Therapy. Good things are happening. Carol writes:

". . .My husband, Rick, has been on BVT for only a few weeks now. We read your
journal every day, and are keeping one of our own. It does help to look
back and say "last time you got stings on your back you felt bad for 12
hours, this time it was only for 7 hours."
Rick has been in a wheelchair for several years now, and is now trying,
with some success, to walk around the house with his walker (after I got rid
of about 4 years of dust on the thing). His energy and strength are WAY up.
He is getting steadily BETTER instead of worse - the differences are small,
but very much there - he doesn't mix up his words as much, his feet are warm
instead of cold, he sleeps 3-4 hours at a time instead of 2-3. Every day is
a little better rather than a little worse.
Just wanted to let you know that we agree - NO WORSE IS BETTER. . . "

Carol (& Rick)". . .Rick & Carol <rcj1@earthlink.net>

Wonderful to hear and Carol sounds like a fantastic, supportive person. I've certainly written and let both of them know that there are many others who are right there with them. Carol's so excited because she can already see the positive changes going on with Rick. She and Rick are on the road to some terrific happenings. And with the kind of approach and attitude that they have, I have a strong feeling things are going to be better than they had even imagined. I wish them all the best!

And here's an e-mail from Jose in Florida. He's looking for some information. Jose writes:

"I would like to recieve information about anybody or institution that offers BVT in the Orlando, Tampa or Oviedo in Florida. . . " Jose Carrasquillo speed@coqui.net

Okay. I know there are some readers out there in Florida. I don't know where exactly but close enough maybe? It might be worth an e-mail. Is Jose looking for information for himself or for somebody else? I suppose it doesn't really matter, does it?

Day 401 - 05:32- June 8, 1998 EST

Stung 17x this morning on my shoulders, sides, buttocks, thighs and feet.

Statrted and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 5x doqn along the left side of my body and 4x along the right. Then, 1x on the outside of each buttock and 1x on the oiutside of each thigh. And finally, 1x on each foot just above the little toe.

So I continue to sting having passed day 400 a bench-mark of sorts I would suppose. Hadn't stung anywhere near or around my legs on Friday wanting to give that area a rest. I knew I'd been stinging that a lot but it really gets me up. But the weekend was okay and I was still able to "schlepp" along somewhat. Still, when I do sting the legs - there is more energy in them. So today I stung the thighs and feet, but not alot and skipping the calves entirely.

Weather has still been rather cool so I haven't been swimming in the pond for a while. Things should warm up soon.

Here's a letter from from my cyber-friend Ray. He's kind and open enough to share the details of a converstaion he had with Charles Mraz, father of bee venom and bee stinging here in the United States. Ray writes:

". . . OK. I talked to Charles Mraz today for maybe 10 minutes. I identified
myself, etc., as calling in December, 1997, and living in Florida, etc.,
having MS, and trying bee stings. He was VERY cordial and nice and sounded
great. At 93 pretty amazing.

I asked him (because of my anal nature) his opinion of females Vs males
responding to BVT better. He confirmed that his opinion is they do appear to
respond better from his experience. Pat Wager and Diane G. also confirm
this, so I close that chapter in my book. Double X chromosomes help. This
damn Y chromosome apparently hampers things for some unknown reason and does
not help matters. He said he knows not why, but he concurs with that
observation.

Also asked him about amount of venom per sting. And he said about 0.1
milligrams per each, which is within the range of Simics 0.036-.35 milligrams
per each. I used .2 milligrams, so another chapter is closed. Simic's
appears correct. In that "range" deal.

Also asked about head stings for vision. He said he has had good results
stinging behind the ear. Like Kelly Ame's on that "Unknown Mysteries" segment
with Robert Stack or whatever. He seemed incredulous that I usually used no
ice. My perception only.

I also said I alternate where I sting from back to arms to legs. He agreed
with "moving them around."

I also said that the benefits appear to be both local and systemic, which he
agreed with. I know stinging on, say, my "bladder meridian" on my back seems
to help my bladder and bowel function.

I mentioned the trouble that I have persuading others to try this. He said "I
have been beating my head for 80 years."
I give him 60, but not 80.

Ever Searching and asking questions,

Ray. . . " Rayseal@aol.com

Well, lots of good questions and answers. Nothing earth shattering but a definite feeling that the best thing to do is just to keep on stinging. And so great to hear it all from one so knowledgeable and experienced. And yes, I guess it works better for some folks than for others. But what else is there? I personally feel that there is a good possibility the cumulative effects of the venom may have tremendous benefits over time.So I'll keep on keeping on. And just can't thank Ray enough for sharing this letter. Ray is a tremendously giving and supportive guy. And if anyone is determined enough to discover some miracles in combating this "dis-ease", it's Ray.

Day 403 - 05:50- June 10, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my thighs, calves, knees feet and neck.

Started and stung 1x on the front of each thigh. Then, 1x below & on the outside of each kneecap. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve and 2x on each foot - 1x on the outside of each ankle bone and 1x atop each foot in the center. Then, 1x on either side of the neck and finally, 1x atop each shoulder.

The stings on Monday seemed to hold me over quite well - until this morning. Woke up feeling stiff in the legs so I just couldn't resist stinging that area again. And, of course, the neck and shoulders are always energy boosting. I hadn't stung the calves during the last session and although I sort of missed not having stung them on Monday, by Tuesday I felt good and strong all over. So perhaps stinging a bit less than 20x each session is better than more - or enough, anyway. Don't know yet - but, once again today, I kept the number down.

The weather is getting "better" but have not ventured back into the pond yet. But soon.

Now, here's an e-mail from a woman who is really going thru some tough feelings. She's looking for support. Julie writes:

". . . Well, I live in a community in Northern California that produces the top nut production of almonds, and lots of other orchards trees. I
contacted all the bee keepers in my area.
They had No idea what I was talking about and could only sell me a hive.
I really do think I need to follow a book, get a partner. (I don't
have a husband), and purchase the bees from somewhere I read they sell
them for 10 to 12 dollars.
I guess I am in a stinky mood because I am stuck feeling this way, I
have no help, no advocate to or researcher to help me. I will find out
where all you caring people are and god willing be at your mercy. I
shouldn't write right now in this mood, but if I don't now, i may not
have energy later. . .

Have you had bees sting to take away the terrible
pain and feeling you get with ms???
I did see a honey bee today. I sat for about ten minutes in the sun.
That is even work for me.
I am tired of being sick and would let 50 sting me. . .
Thanks for listening.
Feel free to post my email anywhere requesting help.
Thanks again.
Julie Springflowers@webtv.net (flowers)

Well, there you have it. Julie is reaching out to me, to you - to all of us. I'd think that there must be someone out in California who might be able to lend a hand. And perhaps there are others with some alternate ideas. . . Can you sting on your own? Are there ways to network with othesr? And what about pain, bees and MS? Has anyone had any experience with it? Julie could use some answers.

Day 405 - 05:18- June 12, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my sides, hips and feet.

Started just below my armpits and stung 6x down either side onto my hips. Then, stung 1x atop either foot - just at the crease.

Interesting, the stings on Wednesday were okay in terms of energy but my legs seemed tighter than usual and were a bit too jumpy - you know, with my foot flat on the ground they sort of shake up and & down every now and then - for a few seconds - involuntarily. No pain or anything - just annoying. Then, the following day on Thursday, the jumpiness was much less. And by Friday morning they were all but gone. Did it have to do with the number of stings? Where I had stung on Wednesday? Or none of that at all - just the way things are sometimes with MS. Well, regardless, the main thing is, is that the jumpiness in the legs went away. Perhaps because of the bee stings?

Here's an e-mail from a very caring and supportive person that never gives up. Here she updates us on a woman in England, Rachel, who's having a hard time with MS and doing Bee Venom Therapy. Judy writes:

". . . The address for Rachel's family is:
Doug & Margery Johnston
and Rachel
15 Yeovil Road, Old Hamstones
Somerset
United Kingdon TA156XG

The family is doing well. Rachel is responding to the bees according to her
father, Doug. He will continue sending me letter-tapes of Rachel so I can
hear her speech as it improves. Doug & Margery have alot of faith their
daughter will get better as time goes along. So do I.

As you recall, Rachel was diagnosed 2 years ago and is only 28 years old. At
the time of her diagnosis she was married and living in London with her
husband. Rachel's Chronis Progressive MS hit her so fast & so hard - it
paralyzed her in a short period of time following her diagnosis. Her husband
took her to her parent's house, dumped her and left. Rachel's depression over
her husband 's departure probably contributed to her worsening condition.

Doug Johnston began stinging his daughter right away. At the time, the family
didn't know of anyone else with MS. Then, you published the family's address
and they began hearing from other folks with MS. Thank you VERY much.
Letters from other MSr's who are using BVT is so very encouraging to this
family. Thank You for your help and support and encouragement. . . . "

Judy never seems to tire of giving. Very special person. She had forwarded me an audio tape that Rachal's father, Doug, had sent to her. Just super great folks doing all they can for their daughter whom they love so much. You can just hear it in their voices. They have a tremendous amount of faith in God and this is great. But they do need support. They don't have a computer and their primary connection when it comes to other "bee stinging people" - as well as others dealing with with MS - is from the people here. So if you've got a good word or thought or just a blessing - go for the stamps and snail-mail. I know they would really appreciate it - especially Rachal. It will go a long way - and you will be blessed.

But in addition, Judy has e-mailed and asked me about something else. Judy writes:

". . . and IF you find anyone who has found some relief for
spasticity - please, let me know. The bees help a lot ... but, the internal
war within myself is over-powering the venom. Think I'll try more head stings. . ." Judy JAlva76117@aol.com

Judy has gotten tremendous relief from the bees and it's improved her life incredibly. And she knows those neck stings really work and do the job for her - and she goes for them like a trooper. But perhaps there are others out there that have some sort of personal remedy for spasticity. Judy knows all about Baclofen and Zanoflex. But maybe there's something else that she doesn't know about that you do. You never know.

Day 408 - 06:01pm- June 15, 1998 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my neck, back and chest.

Started on my neck and stung 1x on either side. Then, stung 6x approx. 2" from the spine, left & right sides. Then, 1x on the chest just below the crack of the armpit. And 1 bee escaped and I went to catch it and it stung my little pinky finger.

The stings on Friday were good but I woke up Saturday morning feeling stiif in the legs. So I did something I'd bever done before. I had Gavin, my 14 year old, sting me 4x that morning. He was right into it, just had to remind him to close the jar after he caught the bee on the end of the tweezer. You know how kids are, they get so excited. Anyway, I stung !x above each knee and 1x on each calve - just to see what would happen and how I'd feel. Well, those few stings gave me a real boost and I felt looser - easier to get up and "schlepp" - throughout the day. I stung because I figured, hey, why not? I'd only done 14x on Friday. So today, Monday, I decided to avoid the legs altogether. Perhaps I'm getting closer to understanding what stinging on an "as needed basis" means.

Now here's an e-mail from Paula who is a new stinger. It's always interesting to hear what motivates others to take the plunge and start on Bee Venom Therapy.Paula writes:

". . .I've had MS for almost 12 years. I'm 36 years old and was a working TV journalist at the time of my attack. But, unbelievably, fortunately I managed to keep working until four years ago. I tried Beta-seron, prednisone, a number of drugs that the Toronto MS clinic was trying out..(I can't recall all the names). But a TV producer friend of mine called me up several months ago and asked if I knew anything about bee-sting therapy for MS. She had read something and found a bee-keeper in Ontario who lived about 2 hours away from Toronto. >From there I did more research, simultaneously discovering that a friend of mine who I'd met at the MS clinic years ago, had just
started bee-venom therapy and though she's still in a wheelchair, the swelling and frigidity of her dormant legs has disappeared. Therefore, I've just started bee-stings.
It's only been a week and a half therefore there haven't been amazing changes yet, but I have been experiencing pricks of pain where the bee stung my back near the spine. It's not itchy or or bruised, it just hurts. And has for three days and nights. Have you heard this before? Should I do something?
This is a very brief explanation, but if you or any of your readers can relate to a lingering, sharp pain, could you let me know?
Thank you so much, . . . "Paula Lenardon & (husband) Lou Kovacs

<kovacs@idigital.net>

So, Paula is a smart lady and having gone through much has decided to give Bee Venom Therapy a go. I'd never heard about "lingering" pain after stinging - but maybe others have. Everybody's different. But Paula has only been stinging for a week or so and this is the time when all of it is so new and there are so many questions. And pains, and sensations and all kinds of weird and different things. Because let's face it. Stinging yourself with bees is not normal. A necessity, yes. So if you've got some suggestions, let her know - I know she'd really appreciate it. I wish Paula lots of success.

Day 410 - 06:10pm- June 17, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my buttocks, thighs, claves feet and arms.

Started and stung 1x on each buttock. Then, 2x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve. Then, 2x on each foot - 1x atop the foot on the crease and 1x above the large toe. Finally, 1x on each arm.

Still feeling okay although I do wish the sun would stay out longer and swimming would become a more do-able thing. I suppose if the temperatures go up I should start to swim even on cloudy days. But I did swim some laps yesterday and it was wonderful. The stings on Monday were good for overall energy but I couldn't resist stinging the thighs and calves today. It's still the one thing that loosens me up and makes things less rigid and stiff. If I can't get my legs to be more fluid, even with the proper amount of energy I just am unable to move forward while maintaining my balance. I can wall-walk and lunge ahead, but this is not "walking". But I'm not complaining. Because if the Bee Venom Therapy keeps the "dis-ease" from progressing - I am blessed.

Now, here's a letter from Carol who's helping her husband sting. Carol writes:

". . . Rick is doing quite well. Every day I can see improvement in his strength and
energy - he is sure he will walk again some day. I don't care if he can
walk - I just want him to be pain-free and enjoy life. At least this
"uphill battle" is going uphill now, not downhill as it seemed to be for a
while.

I don't think we could keep beehives in our yard. It's just too hot in
Florida, there are no honeybees here naturally. We get them from Ferris, by
mail, every week. It works well for us - no muss, no fuss, just a box of
bees every week. (I'm not sure how our mailman feels about it though).

Just wanted to keep in touch - I'll be E-mailing you often, I'm sure. It's
wonderful to know that we're not alone in this bee-journey.

Oh, yes - wanted to tell you that Rick's first objective was to be able to
stand up to pee (has to be a guy thing). He has achieved that objective -
now if he'd just learn to AIM. Oh, well - can't have everything, I guess. . . "

Carol (& Rick - also known as Buzz). . . " Rick & Carol <rcj1@earthlink.net>

Carol is very supportive and you can just read it in her hope and enthusiasm. It's just great to hear. And she's correct - we're not alone on this journey. A letter like this is what gives me encouragement. Well, Rick is really improving - his body is waking up. He'd gotten up and out of his wheelchair for the first time in years. And that's a lot. Looking forward to hearing more and better things from this loving couple as time goes on. Good luck, Buzz.

Day 412 - 06:15pm- June 19, 1998 EST

Stung 16x this morning along my sides, my neck, my thighs, stomach and foot.

Started and stung 4x down along each side of my body. Then, 1x on each hip. Then, stung 1x beneath each side of the skull cap. Then, 1x beneath the belly button. Then, 1x on the inside of each thigh. And finally, 1x atop the left foot above the small toe.

As usual, stinging on the legs on Wednesday was good. Woke up on Thursday - as well as this morning, Friday - and didn't feel so tight and stiff. Part of me asks: 'should I sting the legs every day?'. My response: 'I don't think so.' Why not? 'Because, you've got to give yourself a rest.' And what if I stung my legs every other day - would the stings still have that same loosening-up effect? And my response: It's important to move the stings around because there's more to keep "oiled" than just the legs. Yet, I just can't resist stinging my legs a little more often than other areas. It's such a great feeling to be a little bit looser. It's what makes me feel like, with God's help and all these bee stings, I've got this "dis-ease" under some control.

On this subject, I received this really cute letter not to long ago from Sue. Sue writes:

". . . Barry, I have been following your BVT journal with much amazement. I
was diagnosed with RRMS in March of 1987. I don't really understand
how you can stand to sting yourself so many times with bees. I have
never been stung very many times by bees but remember it as being a
painful and very unpleasant experience and that was only once. Do you
become desensitized or something to the stings after a while or what?
I can only imagine being one big red sore after so many stings (and so
often). Whew!

How does this work?

Best regards.......Sue from Georgia " suem@rose.net

I really got a kick out of this letter. Real honest and open. And I know just where she's coming from. To someone who's never stung before - it is quite a remarkable thing. Well, I wrote Sue back giving her my thoughts and rationale behind stinging. But I would suppose we all have our own stories.

And finally, there's a great new web site I've just designed for a new client that I'm really excited about. Large Print Books. That's right. A listing of thousands of new and old titles of your favorite books in easy to read large type. And I don't care if you've got eye problems or not. Reading large print books is great. Great for you and a great gift idea too. So please, check it out. And believe you me. Once you've read your first large print book, you'll never read books the same way again.

Day 415 - 06:15pm- June 22, 1998 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my thighs, claves, feet shoulders and back.

Started and stung 3x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x below each kneecap. Then, 1x on the inside of each calve. Then, 1x atop aech foot above the large toe. Then, 1x atop each shoulder near the neck and finally 1x below each shoulder blade.

Well, it's summer and the weather has warmed up quite a bit. It's gotten nice and hot and sticky but good swimming in the pond weather. And with all the heat - I'm still feeling strong and good. Doesn't mean that the heat doesn't fatigue and drain my energy. But after cooling down, I bounce back. The swimming in the oool, cool pond helps a lot.

Lately I've been getting some interesting mail from beekeepers. Here's a letter from a Steve, a beekeeper in Canada. Steve writes:

". . . Was talking to a friend the other day, he supplies bees to about 15 people.
He says that it was so nice to have a visit from one of the people that get
bees from him and to see the progress she has made. 18 months a go Heather
could not get out of the car when they came for bees. 12 months ago she
could get out of the car but only with her canes. Today she not only got
out of the car without canes but she walked the driveway (which is fairly
long ) John says she now moves like a much younger lady. He says her smile
has only grown larger and larger. She thanks him for all his work on the
bees and helping others. This says John has made our uphill battle with
the stuff that we design and redesign worth all the hours put in on it
worth every second.. . ." Steve "s bowman" <bkeeper@interlinks.net>

Steve has designed and developed a top board that fits onto a bee hive. This makes it simple and easy to get bees out of the hives any time - any season. He and his friend John have been working on it for some time and this is what he is referring to in his letter. Steve is a good man and has offered to build one for me. He's really open and excited about sharing his design with others. So if you want more information - get in touch with Steve. He'll help you in any way that he can. Who knows, it may be just what you've been looking for.

Day 417 - 04:55pm- June 24, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my back and front.

Started and stung 6x down either side of my back approx. 5" from the spine. Then, stung 1x on either side just by the arm closure - below the shoulders.

The weather here has been exceptionally hot and humid. The pond is great but I can't stay in it all day long. The stings have been helping a whole lot and I suppose it doesn't make a difference where I sting. But some areas are always better than others.

Went to "town" yesterday with my son, Gavin (14). He's off on on a 5 day canoeing trip up the Delaware River and he wanted me to go with him to buy supplies. "You've gone camping and all that, Pop," he said to me. "I need your help. You know what I need. Come with me." It felt good to be involved. Sure, I'd love to go and camp and canoe again but at least I'm doing what I can. So, with the electric scooter, we spent the day (hot & humid) shopping. In and out of stores and all and spent too much money. But it was great. Don't think I could have done it without the bees.

Talking about some areas being better than others to sting, perhaps some areas indeed are more effective than others. Here's a letter from wonderful Judy in Denver telling us just where she thinks the perfect spots to sting for spasticity are. Judy writes:

". . . I'm having wonderful results with lessening rigidity by stinging
vertebrae 2,3, & 4 along with brain stem. Vertebrae #2, #3 and #4 are part of
parasympathetic nervous system - responsible for relaxing involuntary muscle
fiber. I'm not having the frequency or severity of rigidity by stinging this
particular area. I sting on top of each of those three vertebrae and one inch
on each side of those three vertebrae. Please try it if you are experiencing
any involuntary muscle action and see if it relieves you like it has me. . .

You know, everyone out there who is looking for an alternative method of
healing ought to contact the American Apitherapy Society and learn about all
the many, many, many diseases and medical conditions the bees are used for.
It would blow your mind away. I mean, MS is just one of MANY diseases the
bees are for. They are used to treat and/or cure a list of medical conditions
as long as your arm, Barry. Bee venom therapy has been studied, analyzed,
practiced, documented by professional scientists and doctors for over 50 years
in Europe.

And, we have studies where little mice don't tolerate the injection of the
equivalence to 68 bee stings here. And, it's written about - how the bee
venom didn't fare too well in this study. Well, it took me 5 1/2 months to
build up to a tolerance level of 20 stings per session - and I'm a big, full
grown human being. I can't imagine tolerating or living through 68 bee stings
in one session as a full grown human being. Poor, little tiny mice. Did you
read about that latest study? Why don't our professionals rely on REAL
studies that have already been accomplished throughout the ages by trained,
qualified and skilled scientists and doctors? I mean, surely if the
components of bee venom were realized - then it would also be realized that
one tiny little critter wouldn't fare too well with an injection equivalence
of 68 stings. . .

[Also] Miracles are not real believable ... but they do happen and they happen when you least
expect it. Bee venom affects women more than men? Okay - you're a human
being and as a human being you are made up of BOTH male and female bits and
pieces. Let the female side of you . . . accept the bee venom. In your
mind - allow it to work. . . " Judy JAlva76117@aol.com

I just love this woman - she's one of a kind. I admire and think so highly of her and how she handles herself. Her life isn't easy but she has discovered the true glory of giving of herself to others. And Bee Venom Therapy has turned her life around - believe you me. She's talking here about a "Mickey Mouse" study that was recently done by the MS Society. They released results from the study that were absolutely ridiculous. Personally, I feel that the whole study and the early "leaked" results were all designed to put a negative slant on Bee Venom. Why? Beats me.

Anyway, I'll try her theory at some point regarding spaticity and if you want more details, e-mail her. Judy is always glad to share.

And finally, I'm going to add Large Print Books as a permanent link at the bottom of the page. I've gotten lots of good responses to it and I believe it is definitely a link that can much enhance the quality of one's life.

Day 419 - 06:19pm- June 26, 1998 EST

Stung 9x this morning on my legs, neck and chest.

Started and stung 1x on each thigh. Then, 1x on each calve. Then, 1x atop each foot on the crease. Then, stung 1x on either side of the head - just below the skull cap. And finally, 1x on the center of the chest.

The stings on Wednesday were good stings. Both yesterday and today had good energy. The weather is still hot and humid and there are even reports of ozone layer warnings . . . and we are way out in the country. Feel sorry for those city-folk. Well, hot, muggy and humid air is just the worst. Actually, it's why I stung my chest this morning. Don't really know if that's a "point" but it sure felt like it helped. Again, I think stinging all over the body works best - for me. But we're all diferent with different problems. It's just the nature of this "dis-ease".

And also, didn't sting that many stimgs this morning because I really think that switching off the number of stings per session keeps the body guessing - not getting too used to it. Also, had forgotten to send Katrina, my 12 year old, out for bees yesterday afternoon & hadn't noticed that there were so few bees remaining in the jar. But nine should be enough. If not, I can always do more tomorrow. Lots of hives outside thanks to John McCoy, the beekeper.

Well, not everyone is having an easy time with Bee Venom Therapy - and like I said, this "dis-ease" is different for all of us. Here's a letter from Phyllis who's been stinging for some months now. Phyllis writes:

". . . Thought I should let you know, I had to quit the bee stings. I had a serious
reaction with one bee sting!!!! Can you believe that? I have been stinging
for 3 months was doing about 10 stings, sometime lesser amounts, but did it 3
times a week.
I wonder if the bees are more potent at different times of the year, like
spring time and if different bees are more potent then others. I could tell
the difference of aggresive bees and bees that were quiet, that is, the sting
hurting more and the swelling would be worse. Anyway, I am taking a break.
I'm hesitant about starting again. Have any of you had this happen? It's
pretty scarry. . . . Phyllis PGL32@aol.com

Well, I don't know. I'm not a doctor. Perhaps there are others out there who have had similar experiences and can share some thoughts with Phyllis. Everyone is different.

On this same note, here's an e-mail from Mickey who's getting bored with the whole thing. Mickey writes:

"Did you have a leveling off after you did this for awhile? At first I felt alot of good, but now I feel as if it is not effecting me at all. They seem to be a three time a week nuisence. "
Mickey Windows 95 INNOVA Media User <mickaren@ponyexpress.net>

So like I said, everybody's different. That's what this whole "dis-ease" is all about and that's what this therapy is all about. I wrote to Mickey and told him what I thought and he shared his feelings with me. Basically, if the Bee Venom Therapy keeps things from progressing, I told him, this is great for me. Sure, I'd say it's a bit of a nusiance but hey, what else is out there? But Mickey is a smart guy and I'm sure he's open to other people's thoughts and observations.

Day 422 - 06:10pm- June 29, 1998 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my back, elbows, hands and lip.

Started and stung 5x down either side on my back - approx. 1" from the spine. Then, stung 1x on the outside of each elbow. Then, 1 bee escaped Carol's tweezers and stung me on the lip/ Oooh. Man, that really hurt - and swelled. Then, stung 1x on each hand - between the thumb and index finger.

Had only stung 9x on Friday but the weekend was a good one. So I'm beginning to feel that the number of stings per session is not as important as the cointinuim of just keeping on stinging - keeping the venom level "up" in your system. Both days, Saturday and Sunday I felt good and energetic. Swam a lot in the pond and although the weather was hot it didn't slow me down. The exercise of swimming is real good and loosens me up. And the cool, water is so refreshing and when I come out of the pond I really feel good for a few hours afterwards. And of course the bees keep it all possible.

Now, here's a letter from my cyber friend Ray giving me his thoughts about Bee Venom Therapy. He is a person who is determined to beat this thing and is presently undergoing Chelation Therapy to clean out his system. Here he talks about his belief in Bee Therapy. Ray writes:

" . . .I did not stop stinging during the Chelation Therapy, up to 2131[stings] so far.. . .My perception is bvt helps like 80%+ and is natural also. Radical YES but
natural. All the benefit I see are with invisible stuff i.e. speech, vision,
cognition, bladder, bowel and such. . .

Many people have adverse reactions and I really think it is because they go too fast.
A female acquaintance who did try it {BVT] and I suggested starting at 6 [stings per session] and she still reacted poorly. Later I learned she only weighed like 90 lbs., so the 6 [stings] may have been too much. . .

[Then there is] Judy [JAlva76117@aol.com] who is an incredibly strong woman. She could physically not move when she started and now can type with both hands
and sit up in a wheelchair, so I would say she has benefited. Me, I do not
know. I have second guessed stopping the Methotrexate [chemotherapy] and starting the bvt
many, many, many times, but ... doctors will largely refute bvt and I think
there IS something to it. . . . I am just finishing this Chelation Therapy, and with other [therapies] I have done am desperate like most are. . . . In 5 years I predict they will very much promote bvt or some
derivative thereof. I can not wait. But there ARE many, many success stories with bvt out there. Ray" Rayseal@aol.com

Well, there you have it. Ray is a guy who is leaving no stone unturned in his quest back to health. He is doing what he can with what there is. He has, and continues to undergo, many, many treatments and therapies. There's much to learn from this man. He researches each treatment and continues to study and explore Bee Venom Therapy in depth. I know how he feels about the bees. Something feels right about it. I wish him all the best and much success in all that he does. And like I've said before. I'm keeping my eye on this dude. He's a winner.

Day 424 - 06:13pm- July 1, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my buttocks, legs and feet.

Started and stung 1x on each buttock. Then, stung 2x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x below each kneecap. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve. Then, 2x on each foot. 1x above the large toe and 1x on the outside and behind each ankle bone.

Still feeling pretty good considering the hot weather we're having. Yesterday it rained heavy most of the day and swimming was un-doable. Was able to get up and "schlepp" around the house but felt a bit stiff and had missed not stinging my legs on Monday. Carol, my wife, felt that I should give my legs a break from stinging on Monday and so, I did. But this morning, Wednesday, I woke up feeling more tight and stiff than usual. So I guess my body really missed it.

On that note, I've decided to try a little massage therapy - on my legs. I figure, if the stinging my legs feels so good - maybe I should just get my legs massaged really well and see if it does anything more for me. It's worth a try. But the neck, shoulder and hand stings kept the upper part of my body fluid and my hands loose and limber.

Now, here's a letter from Wayne with an update on how the Bee Venom Therapy is going for his wife Linda. Wayne writes:

". . . This has been a good week, to say the least, after getting Pat's book
and starting the BVT on Linda things have really started to happen these
last few days, I and my daughter both notice that after the first week
of the therapy that her foot drag on her right leg had went away, and
this last weekend I took her to brunch and with out the help of a walker
was able to roar all over wal mart with the help of a cart, ( Grin )
every time I turn around she was off some where, ( spending Money
)Tonight was the first time in quite awhile she was able to get her self
in and out of the bath tub by her self. needless to say I have been
overly impress with BVT, I only wish that I had heard about it years." Wayne & Linda <csad@InfoAve.Net>

Sounds great! Linda is really experiencing some decent results from the therapy and this is terrific. Do women respond better to this therapy than men? Who cares! Look forward to hearing more from these fine folks.

Day 426 - 05:03pm- July 3, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my back, shoulders, arms and chest.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, stung 4x down either side of my back approx 4" from the spine. Then, 1x on eirther side the chest - just below the crack of the armpit. And finally, 1x on the outside of each arm.

The leg stings on Wednesday did what they were supposed to do and made the last few days easier and less tight. I just continue to sting and sting because I really believe that it keeps things "staus quo". It's not like I'm feeling any great day-to-day changes but I feel that there must be something in the venom that works to control the MS.And of course when I sting, I do feel "energized" for the first 2-6 hours. Perhaps there is lots of stuff in the venom that is useless and painful. But the good seems to outweigh the bad.

Now, here's a letter from Debbie who's been having an up and down time with the Bee Venom Therapy. Debbie writes:

". . . When I last talked with you I was feeling pretty rough, but I
think I'm getting better. I went to the Dr and he said he didn't know
what was going on other than my MS. My temp is gone, when I was at the
Dr he begged me to quit doing the stings and go back to my avonex . I
told him I would quit the stings and go back on my avonex. Half of that
statement is true, I did start back on my avonex but I am not stopping my
stings, my Dr just doesn't understand I don't think. I have cut down to
six stings every single day instead of the large quantities I was doing
previously. I still feel rough real weak and major fatigued, but I feel
I'm getting a little stronger every day. I can at least get out of bed
and function alot better than I did a week ago. I didn't want to go back
on my avonex but since my ms was really kicking up I figured I'd better.
So I've done 1 shot of avonex and will do 1 shot every Tues night til I
feel I'm well enough to stop. My understanding is that the avonex
interferes with the bvt results, I don't know if that's true. But I
really want to give the bvt a full chance to work for a minimum of six +
months.

If you know of anything or anyone that might make this journey of mine a
little easier please let me know or forward my name on to them. I'm
desperate for hope and something to help, and I really don't know what
I'm doing so I'm kind a all over the map. I'm trying to find out
anything and everything about improving my health, body, mind and spirit.
I'm trying to learn all I can about healthy eating, lifestyle, exercise,
vitamins & herbs and anything else that might help. I plan to leave no
stone unturned, on my mission and somehow someway I will kick this.

Thanks for all your help and encouragement on my journey. Take good care
and I hope to hear from you soon. PS How are you doing on your mission?

Debbie charliedebbiesimpson@juno.com

Debbie's doing what she can. She's unsure and that's understandable. We're all unsure especially when the doctors and the "medicrats" give you no support and wipe their hands clean of you if you dare and go "against the grain". As my son and daughter like to whine, "it's not fair!" Darn right, I say to them. And nobody said life was.

We must all do what we can and follow our own instincts. I admire and respect Debbie because she's "doing" not just sitting and hoping.I know what the bees can do and I hope and pray Debbie can find her "groove".

The only way I can make this journey any easier for Debbie is to support her in whatever she does. That's what this whole trip is about - support, support, support. Exchange ideas and suggestions . . . and dialogue.

Day 429 - 05:11pm- July 6, 1998 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my sides, thighs and knees.

Started just below my armpits and stung 4x down either side to my waist. Then, stung 1x on the inside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the inside of each kneecap.

Only had 12 bees remaining in the jar so had to make do with what there was. Should be enough. If not. . . there's always more.

Been feeling okay and have continued to swim regardless as to what the weather is like. Sunny or cloudy - I'm in and it always makes a difference. Had my first massage session with Coleen and of course it felt wonderful. Will need to do it a few more times and concentrate on the knees and ankles more. I'm witholding jugement on exactly what it does.Yeah, it feels great while it's happening but what else does it do.

Here's a letter from Debbie (a new cyber-friend) who had started stinging and had some weird reactions. Debbie writes:

". . . BARRY HAVE BEEN READING YOUR J0URNAL FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. HERE IS
MY PROBLEM MAYBE YOU CAN HELP ME WITH OR DIRECT ME TO SOMEBODY THAT COULD. I
STARTED THERAPY 2 1/2 WEEKS AGO DID THE TEST STING EVERYTHING WENT FIND NO
PROBLEM UNTIL SESSION 8 ONLY FOUR STINGS AND I HAD A REAL BAD REACTION HAD TO
USE THE BEE STING KIT. I DON'T WANT TO STOP JUST IN THE TWO WEEKS SINCE I
HAVE BEEN DOING THERAPY MY FEET HAVED WARM UP AND NOT IN SO MUCH PAIN, I WAS
SLEEPING BETTER AT NIGHT (WAS GETTING UP ABOUT 3X A NIGHT TO USE THE BATHROOM
11:00-7:00. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I HAD THAT KIND OF REACTION DO YOU HAVE
ANY IDEAS.

WAITING TO BEE HELPED! . . . " Debbie DTomc88990@aol.com

So, what do you think? Debbie is the first person that I've come in contact with that has had a "bad" reaction to the bee stings. I'm not sure exacttly what sort of reaction she had. I think she's smart to stop and ask questions - but I'm not sure what to answer. I can tell that she really wants to persevere and see this through - but now what? She'd even begun to realize some nice results. Perhaps there are others that can shed some light and offer suggestions.

Day 431 - 05:24pm- July 8, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my thighs, knees, calves, feet, shoulders and arms.

Started and stung 2x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each knee. Then, 1x on each calve and 1x above each small toe. Then, stung 1x atop each shoulder and 1x on each arm.

Had a dental appointment this morning so I had to sting the legs. Needed the "oomph" to get in and out of the office and all the rest. And I did. Must remember that the dentist is stressful - root canal work - so . . .

Well, the 12 stings on Monday were enough and I had all the energy needed to do what I needed. Stinging on my legs always helps the "schlepping" but stinging in other areas keeps the fatigue under control and at a minumum. I still feel that just keeping that venom in your system is the best one can do to keep this "dis-ease" staus quo. Am I getting better? My wife Carol thinks so. But like I say, it takes a while to really tell and see. Meanwhile if I'm not getting worse, I'm blessed.

Now here's a lettr from my cyber-friend Wally with his thoughts regarding Bee Venom and standard medications. Wally writes:

". . .mixing and trying to match bvt and meds
involves dozens perhaps 100s of chemicals, many, such
as those in bee venom, untested, and still mysterious
... it's like playing Rubik's roulette (coined that 1
myself:), which is exactly why many of those doctors
we distrust are so sceptical (my doc was too, but
said keep in touch and we'll see what happens...he
too is watching the Georgetown study) and ... we need to
remember that each MSer is totally unique--symptoms
may be similar but they still affect each person
uniquely... that and the fact that the disease (or
dis-ease:)by its nature, vacillates sometimes wildly,
again unique to the person. Some doctors may be
pompous and elitist, but lets face it gang, they're
just as confused as the rest of us... but don't let's
rub it in their faces :)
Personally, I choose to not try different therapies
simultaneously... common sense good health stuff yes,
(diet, vitamins massage et al), non-therapeutic
meds(anti-spaz, anti-hot-temper...I'm artistic, so
sue me), but while I'm doing BVT, zero steroids, or
immune suppressants.. . ." Wally Itrich <wallass@rocketmail.com>

Wally's a smart guy who's been dealing with this "dis-ease" - MS - for many, many years. So I tend to listen to a guy that's had - and continues to have - some real-life experience with all of this. And his thoughts make a lot of sense too. But he's into Bee Venom Therapy now and he's giving it his all. And I know it's not an easy trip for him. Here's a fella' who lives on his own - heavily involved with supporting other folks who are dis-abled - and writes professionally. Matter of fact, Wally has an article that's just been published on Bee Venom Therapy. You might want to find out more about it. So obvioussly, Wally is seeing "something" from all those stings. He's someone to look up to.

But again, in regard to drugs and medicines, each of us are individuals and must make choices and decisions that are best suited for ourselves. There is no right or wrong.

Day 433 - 07:24pm- July 10, 1998 EST

Stung 10x this morning on my back. Started on my neck and stung 1x on either side. Then stung 4x approx. 2" from the spine down either side.

The stings on the legs on Wednesday had me doing what was needed at the dentist but dealing with my teeth was more than what I needed. Had the energy to work on Thursday but "schlepping" around was more difficult. The legs were tight. I guess I'm always measuring how I am doing by how easy it is for me to get "up" and around. Also, it's been raining here for days and I hadn't been able to get in and swim. Had been missing that. But today the sun shined brightly, spent time swimming and was feeling a whole lot more energetic. In the afternoon Carol, my wife, and Gavin, my 14 year old, went off to the library. Was good - especially having the "oomph" to "schlepp" in and out.

Now here's an e-mail from my cyber-friend Judy in Denver with her thoughts about Bee Venom and medicines. Judy writes

". . . I never did Betaseron or Avonex - but, I tried to get on both of those
double-blind placebo programs before I knew about the bees. I was always 'too
far gone' for either program - never accepted ... so there was nothing before
the bees. I did reseearch on both of those prorams in our MS files on the
internet - and BOTH showed extremely poor results with terrific side effects -
so, I was glad when I learned that. I was glad I was too far gone. And,
when the knowledge of the bees presented itself - I initially thought that
anyone who turned to bee-stings had to be daft. I really did.
I'd turn down doctors who wanted me on their miracle steroids and they'd
drop me like a hot potatoe when I refused. They thought I was daft.
Daft is as daft does - and here I am all this time later - so thankful for
the bees. Now, I hear tell that everyone who responds to bee venom is only
doing so because it is an exciting experience. They are responding to each
other's attitudes. That's okay. Then, I learned otherwise - the contents of
the venom, the success of apitherapy - is REAL. . . . Judy JAlva76117@aol.com

Judy is really something. She has been dealiung with MS for many years and has been on all kinds of medications. But she is a fighter and a winner and an inspiration for all of us. She is always looking for the rainbow and is always finding out new and incredible alternatives to "hard-core" drugs. Matter of fact, she'd just written to me about Valerian root as a natural substitute for Baclofen. I will try it soon.

Regarding her comments about bee stinging being "an exciting experience", I can only say that for me, when I get stung, I feel something verry physical. My body responds better to my brain's commands. And that is an exciting experience!

Day 436 - 06:34pm- July 13, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my buttocks, thighs, calves and feet.

Started and stung 1x on either buttock. Then, moving down my legs, stung 1x on the outsides of the thighs, 1x on the kneecaps and 1x on the outside of each of the calves. Then, stung 2x on each foot. 1x just on the crease and 1x in the center of the foot above the toes.

The weekend was really beautiful here in upstate NY so I had great opportunity to swim - exercise and cool down in the pond. And this I did. Katrina, my 12 year old, left for 2 weeks to Girl Scout camp so I'll be missing her a whole lot. She's really been taking on the responsibility of fetching bees for me. So Gavin, my 14 year old, will have to do it. Having been stung once - through his jeans, he's less enthusiatic about going down to the eleven hives. But he will. Katrina on the other hand is game for everything and fearless. And she's been stung several times. But I just tell them, "Hey guys, it's good medicine."

Here's an e-mail from John (gus103) who updates us as to where he's at. John writes:

". . .thanks for the help. I still read your site. I'm not stinging at the moment.
My wife is very supportive, but she gets stung every time she goes to get
the bees. Your right bee people are the nicest people you could ever know.
I'm doing fine I can cut the grass with the ridding mower. I take Avonex
once a week and a lot of vitamins. I don't seem to be progressing so that's
OK. Bee well,
Johngus103 <gus103@mci2000.com>

What I really like about John and this letter is that it is straight and honest. John has done the bees and will continue to do Bee Venom Therapy - when he feels the need. At the moment however, John is doing Avonex. And that's okay because that's working for him and it's what he feels he needs. . There are no clear-cut answers here. We must all do what we think is best at any specific moment in time. But John's not saying, "Ah, I did that bee stuff and it doesn't work." No. He's got a hive and he's still quite committed to the therapy. But we all must chart our own course and find our own way. John's working with all his options. I respect that in an individual. And I wsh him much success.

Day 439 - 05:24pm- July 16, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my shoulders, arms and feet.

Started and stung 1x atop either shoulder. Then, stung 4x down each side of the back approx. 3" from the spine. Then, stung 1x atop each foot - on the center.

Got off my regular every-other-day routine and didn't sting yesterday, Wednesday. A gentleman and his wife, David & Patty - they live down the road a piece - joined us for our session this morning. David is dealing with arthritis and had e-mailed asking to come over and watch me sting. . . so, I postponed my stinging until today, Thursday. I showed them how to keep the bees in a jar - the honey and paper-towel & tiolet paper roll - and Carol did the honors of stinging him twice on the elbow. Very nice folks and let's hope that something really good happens for him. David has just purchased his own hive so it was interesting to compare notes. Oh, incidentally, it was the first time Carol had stung anyone else.

And I won't sting tomorrow- I'll just pick it back up again on Monday. Ahh, the freedom of stinging on an "as needed basis".

The days here have really gotten even hotter and a lot more humid - not the norm for here in upstate NY. Woke yesterday morning feeling real stiff and tight but this morning felt quite strong and energetic. Plan on going to the health food store and finding some Valarian Root. Judy A had written and suggested this herb as a good natural herbal substitute for Baclofen for the control of spasticity. So I figure, probably good for stiffness as well. Worth a try. Can't hurt.

Those bee stings on my legs on Monday were great. It really loosened me up quite a bit. There's just no doubt that when I sting certain areas - my body responds right then and there. Just have to keep doing it.

Now, here's a letter from Jana and her plea for some help. Jana writes:

". . .My neuroligist wont do anything for me but give me antidepressants and
ditropan, which is not doing much. I am still depressed and occasionnaly
still wet the bed. He gave me some other crap before that was not doing
that much but making me weaker, like I needed that so I just quit taking
it. I think it was zanaflex he woulnt even talk about betaseron or
anything that I have read about, nothing at all. I am ready to try
beestings, but I dont know where to go or who to ask in my area, so I
thought I should try talking to you via e-mail.

Please write back to me, maybe we can meet up in a chat room,

Thank you,

Jana Gregory Jana50187@webtv.net (WHO DIS?)

So I know where Jana is coming from. She's out there and she's finding out that there isn't much "definitivenes" out there. Noody really knows - not even her neurologist "knows for sure". I've written and made some suggestions but perhapos Jana just needs to be reassured that she is not alone out there. That there are others who have gone and are continuing to go through the same "hoops".And that's what support is all about.

Day 443 - 05:29pm- July 20, 1998 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my buttocks, legs and feet.

Started and stung 1x on each buttock. Then, stung 2x on each thigh. Then, 1x below each kneecap. Then, 1x behind each calve and finally 1x behind each ankle.

Well, the stings this morning on my legs really felt great. Hadn't stung them in a while and I really missed stinging that area - so I went for it today. Was going to sting my neck too but Carol, my wife, said - next time. So who's arguing? Both on Saturday and on Sunday felt stiff and didn't have that "oomph" in my "schlepp". Had strength and all, but just felt tight. Had a massage on Saturday and it felt good because I know it loosens things up - but it's no cure. Could also be that the heat and humidity is on the rise. Pond helps but the humidity certainly is a drag. Still, in the end, those bees always makes a difference.

Now, here's a great letter from Wayne regarding his wife Linda. Wayne writes:

". . . As you know we started Linda BVT therapy on June 8th and as of today the
improvement in Linda is only what I would have to call short of a
miracle, prior to the therapy she was unable to get in and out of the
bath tub by herself, if she laid down on the couch she was unable to get
up by her self with out some assistance, she was only able to get from
one place to the other only with the use of a walker, and then it was a
very short distance because of the fatigue factor, Her right foot was
the biggest problem with foot drag, At that point we were within a few
days of obtaining a wheel chair as her mobility was almost 0. She would
of already had one but this was a factor that she did not want to
except, and I tried to never bring the subject up, but I knew in my
heart that the way she was going that it was inevitable at that point in
time.
WELL WHAT DIFFERENCE A FEW HUNDRED BEE STINGS WILL BRING. After the
first week I started noticing little difference in the way she was able
to do things, as of yesterday she is no longer using the walker and was
able to drive herself to the hair dressers to get her hair done, and she
is roaring around the house with out using a cane. we use the book that
Pat Wagner wrote as the guide lines for the areas to sting, she is at 20
stings a day 3 times a week, I will keep her at this level for the next
few months and then taper off a little.
As a side note the areas that we first started stinging with out using
ice, those same areas today I have to leave the ice on for quite awhile
as she has gotten feeling back and is letting me know about it if I
don't leave the ice on long enough ( GRIN ) The change that BVT has
brought into her life is ... well I don't really have a word that would
truly explain my feelings, as I seen this lady go through so much over
the years from this DAMN thing called MS.. . ." C&S <csad@InfoAve.Net>

Wow! What a great report and what a great miracle. Things are truely happening for Linda and this gives me such encouragement in my life and my belief in Bee Venom keeping this "dis-ease" at bay. Maybe it works more or less and certain individuals - but there's something there. I feel it and I know it.

I'm just so excited for Linda. I wish her all the best and better and better results. Wayne is committed to staying in touch with me so I look forward to his letters.

Day 445 - 06:04pm- July 22, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my sides, shoulders, fead and hands.

Started and stung 4x down either side of my body - from just beneathe the armpits to the waist. Then, stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then 1x just below the sull-cap - left & right sides. And finally, 1x atop each hand between the thumb and index finger.

Stinging the legs on Monday were really good. Loosened them up and they were not as stiff as they had been. The weather is still hot and humid so I'm doing all to stay cool. Swimming is not only good for heat but I can feel it working on my entire body. It is great exercise and I hadn't really realized how much I missed it all year long until now. Now, after several weeks of swimming on a consistent basis, I can really feel the difference.

Here's a letter from my friend David whom I'd helped get started with bee stings for the arthritis he's dealing with. But his concern here is for someone else. David writes:

". . . Thanks for the help & support.
A friend of mine may be about to be diagnosed as having Amyotrophic
Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
If there's anyone out there who knows of some 'unconventional'
treatment-apitherapy or otherwise- we'd sure be interested in getting
the info to him.
Peace
David grodlane@bigfoot.com

Well, that's a pretty devastating "dis-ease" and I wonder whether Bee Venom Therapy would be beneficial. I don't know but perhaps there are others out there that have more experience than I do. If so, please, write to David and offer some suggestions. We're all in this thing called "life" together.

David now has a hive of his own so I would say he qualifies as a "beekeeper". After meeting him and Paddy last week I can tell you he certainly has that "sweet" disposition so common to those in the world of Apitherapy.

Finally, jusst want to wish Charles Mraz, the father of Bee Venom Therapy here in the United States, a great Happy Birthday! 93 years old today and still very, very active in the world of Apitherapy. He's written many books on the subject and if you haven't read any yet, you might ought to. Check out Books To Order - That Compliment the Healing Process for a few of his titles

Day 447 - 05:44pm- July 24, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my thighs, legs, feet and chest.

Started an stung 2x high up on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each knee. Then, 1x below each kneecap. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve. Then, 2x on each foot - 1x behind each ankle and 1x atop each foot above the large toe. Finally, stung 1x on either side of the chest approx. 3" above each nipple.

Last few days have been hot and humid and I spent whatever time that I could in the cool pond. The stings on Wednesday were good for my hands and fingers and overall fatigue. Felt stiff and tight in my legs yesterday but this morning, with a whole lot less humidity in the air, felt quite energetic and loose.

John McCoy, the beekeeper, dropped by yesterday to check on the eleven hives and they're doing just great. He was even nice enough to scoop up a jarful of bees for me while he was down amongst the hives. Man, he does it o fast and easy, I could see Gavin watching wide eyed and envious. Well, saved him a trip down to the hives anyway. Katrina, my 12 year old, will be back home this weekend and she's fearless.

Now here's a letter from Jorge who's been stinging for years with some real decent results. Jorge writes:

". . . I have had MS since 1984. These days, I say my glass is full. It's full of
hope, faith and understanding.
BVT helps keep my hope alive. Along with some of the medically perscribed
medications, I've been participating in BVToff and on for three yrs.
To this day, it relieves fatique, spasticity and related pain. I am talking
about the fatique that makes it difficult to continue after any simple
activity. The spasticity that causes stiffiness and pain that makes it
dfficult to move.
Along with the support of my family and friends, It helps keep my faith alive
by improving the quality of my life and allowing me to believe that modern
medical technology will find more ways of symptom managment and eventually a
cure.
It allows me to continue to understand that the body is very complex, that
finding solutions are just as complex and that some may experience the
benefits of BVT. .. " Jorge,U2 U2rFree2BU@aol.com

Well, here's a gentleman that's telling it like it is . . . for him. Jorge sees what Bee Venom Therapy can and is doing in his life and he's making the most of what there is. Everybody is different - especially when it comes to MS. Jorge is feeling blessed that the BVT indeed does work for him in his life. He also seems to have terrific support from his family - and that is so important. This letter certainly was inspiring to me. Bee Venom may not be a cure. But there is definitely something in it that works to control the symptoms.

But what I really get from this letter is a man who's been using Bee Venom for some time and seems to have arrived at an understanding of how to use it and how it works in his life - for his condition. I think this balance and understanding is critical when it comes to this therapy. Because after all, it is poison we're dealing with here.

Thank you Jorge for the insight. Continued success and good health!

Day 450 - 06:04pm- July 27, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my shoulders, back and legs.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, stung 4x down either side of the back approx. 3" from the spine. Then, stung 1x on the back of each thigh and 1x behind each calve.

Had a massage yesterday, Sunday, and with the weather not being as humid as it has been, felt pretty good. Coleen, the massage therapist - a very intelligent and gentle young woman, suggested that I sting on the backs of my legs - calves and thighs. I've always avoided that area because sitting on the stings never felt all that comfortable. But that's where the muscles that lift the feet & legs are located. So I gave it a few stings and we'll se how it goes.

Now, here's a letter from Donna who'd been stinging for a while and then stopped. Donna writes:

". . . I did a stupid thing. I quit the bees for a time to do a course of steroids and now am wishng that i had not done it. I still have about 2 weeks of pills to do to finish up and then it is my understanding that I will need to wait 2 weeks longer before I start back on the bees. I am looking forward to doing this(bees). I wish that i had never stopped. I feel worse now than I think that ever have. Guess I just had to learn the hard way. Both of my hands are numb now. The left one is the worse one. i went to my neuro when it was just 2 fingers on the left hand. Now it has progressed from there. He told me that it could be either MS or carpal tunnel. I use my hands a lot. I walk with a walker, drive with hand controls, wheel my chair and spend hours online and other household duties. My shoulders ache alot and it is possible that it is carpal tunnel that has just gone that far from over use
I am writing this letter to seek out support and any suggestions about good places to sting for this problem when I get back on the bees. ( about 4 weeks) Also to try to warn others to really think twice before they do what I did. :-) I wish that I had pursued some physical therapy and stuck with the bees. I did not think that physical therapy was important for me. I am usually a very active person. As much as I can be with my limitations. Now I have learned that if this is something like carpal tunnel I might have been able to have avoided it by doing some exercises to strenthen my body. I hope this is helpful and look forward to any advice that you might be able to send my way. . . " Donna M. <sixlegs@onramp113.org>

Okay. I understand how Donna is feeling. I've posted this letter because it is "true to life". None of us ever really know what to do and how to deal with this "dis-ease". We're all doing the best we can with what there is. Donna feels as though she has "backslided" a bit - but you never know. I wrote and said that we are all always "double-thinking" ourselves - what we do and what we don't do. The main thing is to just persevere and push forward. Don't look back.

I'm not sure why she feels she must wait 2 weeks before stinging again - maybe someone else knows. And perhaps others, with similar aches & pains, have suggestions as to just where she might sting for relief. The main thing is - this is a time for support. With God's help, Donna will bounce back to where she was before the steroids. That's usually the case anyway. You never know. God works in strange ways.

Day 452 - 06:28pm- July 29, 1998 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my legs, thighs, feet and neck.

Started and stung 4x on each thigh - 2x on the outside & 2x on the inside. Then, 2x on each calve - 1x on each side. Then, 1x atop each foot above the large toe and finally 1x on each side of the neck.

Those extra stings behind my calves and thighs on Monday didn't really do much for me. Matter of fact, woke up yesterday feeling even more stiff than usual. But perhaps this was because it was a fairly new place to have stung. I'm not sure - but I'll give those areas another try - another time. But I know I've never liked stinging the backs of my legs - much prefer the front or sides. When I sting those areas I have much more "oomph" to get up and "schlepp".

And then, I went down to the pond yesterday and swan in the cool, cool water and man, was I transformed - it's always unbelievable what that cool water does to me.

Here's a letter from my cyber-buddy John, who'd started stinging via Bee Venom injections and is now doing a combination of that and "live" bees. He also has some hives of his own and is quite a committed stinger. John writes:

". . . Have I ever asked you what you weigh? Anyhow, what do you weigh? You seem
to use 14 most frequently-- Simics says 1 sting for each 5kg of body
weight. This puts me at 20 stings. Sometimes it is hard to find 20 places
that aren't all thick, hard and bleed. I don't mind the little blood but am
afraid that the venom is also leaking out.

I do envy your pond. My acupuncture buddy swims daily and she has not
deteriorated in some years but she is urban where they have pools.
Yesterday I sat in a cool river for an hour or so then was able to walk
with staff op the gravel bar for about 1/2 mile and tube back down. One
trip I even carried the tube. I had very little (controlable) foot drop--it
was glorious. Unfortunately today I am dragging but maybe due to
frustration at the electrical wiring upon which my wife and I have worked
all day long.

If I can walk a gravel bar with a tube, life will be so much better. My
creek cabin will again be a hidden treasure. . . " John <jbrackman@fidnet.com>

Ahh, so good to hear that others get that same rejuvinating feeling from cool waters. It is truely a blessing for me - as is fruit ice pops from time to time. But unfortunately I can only indulge from May to September. I would suppose cold showers might do the same but somehow in the winter-time. . . brrrr. . . even for me.

John also comments on my number of stings per session. Well, according to his scale I'm right on target. Interesting though, iI only arrived at that number by "feel".

He also sounds like he's doing pretty darn well - cold water or not. 1/2 a mile! Oooo, i don't know, but I just have a feeling that he owes a lot to those bees.

Day 454 - 06:06pm- July 31, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my back, arms, buttocks and elbows.

Started and stung 4x on either side of my back - apptox. 8" from the spine. Then, stung 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x on each arm and finally, 1x on the outside of each elbow.

Felt pretty good over the last few days. The stings on my legs on Wednesday loosened me up a bit - but not quite as much as I'd like. Maybe it's just the way things are in the summer - heat and humidity and all. But other than the walkinga nd "schlepping" I feel real good. Working on the computer, designing web sites and spending time with the kids - shooting some video, stinging and swimming. This morning, Gavin, my 14 yearold, did the stinging and Katrina, my 12 year old, pulled out the stingers. They were both really into it and it gave Carol, my wife, a break.. But no break for me.

Here's a letter from Bob U who's been stinging off and on - and now finds himself is at sort of a crossroad. Bob writes:

". . . A brief up date on my status may help for some of
those out there going through transitions with the "dis-ease" and things
surrounding them in their day to day life.
From one stinger (in my case part time stinger) to another, I must
confess, that I feel like a turncoat to even mention this. My
neurologist, after almost a year, would finally like to try Copaxone
injections with me in this battle. I did not tolerate beta seron well
which is partly what brought me to BVT. I can't help think of your
words to leave no stone unturned in the quest for health. So I have
decided to try Copaxone. The only trouble is that my neurologist
doesn't want me doing bees and Copaxone at the same time. Should I quit
bees again? Should I not tell him and just keep stinging? Is there
anyone else out there going through the same thing? Without speaking
directly to him are there some good hard scientific reasons that Copxone
and bees don't jive?
I wrote about 4 months ago full of enthusiasm and pride about the way
thing were going with my stings and my family. But, as the proverb
goes, "pride goeth before ... a fall." For numerous reasons I fell of
the bee sting wagon for about a month and a half. Now it may be
coincidence, but in retrospect, I feel that during that time I lost
ground with the ms. (I no longer give the "dis-ease" the respect
warranted by CAPS in the abbreviation) I am now stinging again, but
have not returned to same level of stability I had felt before. So,
don't just plain quit stinging if you can help it. Obviously for
medical reasons there may be changes. Hang in there even though there
are transitions from day to day and other events to get you off track. . . "

Robert User <"rstroble@epix.net"@epix.net>

Bob's a smart guy and he's trying to think this through in the best way that he can. It's not always an easy answer - especially when the "doctor" has ideas and other plans and suggestions. Should he or shouldn't he? - do this that or both? - Bob does feel that it would have been a better idea to have kept on stinging - but. . . now what?

I think Bob is thinking out loud here and looking for some good dialogue. Because there are no "pat" black & white answers. Sure, it's easy for me to say, "forget what the doctors say - just keep stinging." But I can't do that because obviously these drugs must work for some people. The question is - for whom? And what are the side-effects - if any? Sometimes, we're just on our own out here.

Whatever Bob does - I wish him well. And whatever he does will be the right and perfect solution - for him. But regardless, it doesn't look like he's ready to just give up on the bees entirely.

Day 457 - 06:31pm- Aug. 3, 1998 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my arms, elbows, wrists, hands and thighs.

Started and stung 2x on each arm. Then, 1x on the outside of each elbow. Then, 1x on each forearm and 1x on each hand - between the thumb and index finger. Finally, stung 1x on the left thigh and 2x on the right one.

Weekend was nice, the weather not as humid as it has been. Used the electric scooter to visit friends down the road and had lots of energy. Had another massage on Saturday and although it doesn't create any miracles in terms of walking, it does loosen the tightness and gets the blood flowing. I would think that during the winter, when I am unable to swim, massages will be of a premium.

Here's an e-mail from Jana. She hasn't started to sting yet, but more importantly she's into reaching out. Jana writes:

" . . . OK, THIS IS MY HOME PAGE.

http://home.talkcity.com/PeacefulPl/furia/index.html

I CALLED MYSELF FURIA WHEN I WAS A TEEN
BECAUSE I WAS A STRONG DO NOT MESS WITH ME TYPE GIRL. (OK I WAS IN THE
LOCAL PUNK ROCK SCENE AND HAD A MOHAWK TOO, THAT WAS YEARS AGO)
I WANT TO BRING FURIA BACK TO LIFE, I WAS NOT AFRAID OF ANYTHING, AND NO
ONE AND NOTHING COULD STOP ME FROM DOING WHAT I SET OUT TO DO! I AM NOT
CRAZY, I AM DETERMINED ON BEATING THIS DISEASE!

JANA
P.S.
This is a chat room I set up for people who have MS and the caregivers
of them. You can go there at anytime, but I will only be there in the
A.M. and up to about 2 P.M. central daylight, feel free to go there
whenever you like, but I can't guarentee anyone will be there. I set it
up a month ago, and sent out a mailling before, but I don't think it has
been visited by anyone but my brother and me.

I hope to see you there!

YOU CAN GET TO THE CHAT ROOM FROM THE HOME PAGE AT . .

Jana Jana50187@webtv.net (WHO DIS?)

I visited Jana's HomePage and I really liked what she had to say and how she said it. I wrote back to her saying, "I don't know you, but I like you!" She has a very nice space and energy about her and is someone that can only make this trip we're on a better and more friendly one. Jana is intrested in stinging but is not quite sure how to get started. She seems to have come up with some "stops" and I'm not sure what they are. But she's sent me a number of e-mails and has even set up a chat room. She wants very much to connect with others.

Day 459 - 06:26pm- Aug. 5, 1998 EST

Stung 17x this morning on my neck, sides, legs and feet.

Started and stung 3x down each side of the torso. Then, 1x on either side of the neck. Then, 2x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve. Then, 1x on the crease of each foot and finally 1x atop the left foot - on the center.

Still feeling okay but still the heat and humidity is no fun. The legs are too stiff to do any serious walking but I must keep reminding myself that walking isn't everything. Although this tends to bring my head down a bit I continue to sting because I believe that the stings do keep everything else "status-quo". And this is a blessing. And of course when I do sting the legs there is more energy in them. Had another very nice gentleman call and come over to watch me sting. Gene suffers with Arthritis in his wrists and asked to see the process and get a few. And of course, Carol and I were more than happy to oblige. But I can't help but feel how "lucky and fortunate" so many are - to be able to sting a few times and benefit so much. I do hope that the stings do their magic.

Now, here's a real treat from my cyber-friend, Wally. <wallass@rocketmail.com> He's been stinging for about 5 months now, and is committed to the process and seeing where it takes him. He's just written a terrific article on BVT for New Mobility Magazine entitled, "Can Bee Venom Fight MS and Other Diseases?" . The good news is that you can read it right on line. It's a great read and I'm really proud of him. His writing is easy and a pleasure to read. He makes a lot of sense out of all this craziness.. Check it out.

Day 461 - 06:14pm- Aug. 5, 1998 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my shoulders, back, hips, legs and foot.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, stung 3x on either side of the back - approx 3" from the spine. Then, 1x on each hip. Then, 1x on the front of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve and finally with the one remaining bee, stung atop the left foot.

The leg stings on Wednesday were really good. As usual they always give me that energy - but it only lasts for a while. Still, overall I feel that the stinging keeps my condition as a whole in check. Has it made me better? Not the tightness and stiffness in my legs - but in terms of fatigue and just about all the other symptoms, yes. And again, I don't feel that I'm getting any worse. . . and not getting worse - is indeed getting better.

I received this e-mail from a young lady in Canada. April-Holly writes:

". . . My name is April-Holly Cross, and I am a high School student in Halifax Nova Scotia and last year my friend and I did a project on Bee Venom Therapy and how it helps treat
Multiple Scerlosis. We won several awards and are planning to contiune
our research this year, but we need people who are currently using the
Bee Venom Therapy to answer some questions for us. . .

I would love it if you would post our questions on your site . . . Here are the questions,

1. When did you discover that you had Multiple Sclerosis?
2. What were your symptoms before you began Bee Venom Therapy?
3. How and at what stage did you discover Bee Venom Therapy?
4. How did you feel after your first session of Bee Venom Therapy?
5. How long did it take you to feel "back to your old self" again?
i.e. back to when you felt good enough to do everyday things.
6. Did you have any side affects to the treatment? And what?
7. Did you ever stop using the treatment? And what happened?
8. What is your Bee Venom Therapy schedule?
9. What is your progress to date?
10. Are you using anyother drugs? If so what and why?

Thanks a bunch, if you have any other questions please feel free to email
me. Please send replies to my address below.
Thanks again, . . " April-Holly and Jenn

"April-Holly Cross" <pt15@hotmail.com>

Well, Why not? Perhaps these girls can gather some information that might be beneficial to all of us. The fact that they are taking an interest in MS and Bee Venom Therapy is exciting to me. So, if you're so inclined and have the where-with-all to send these folks some e-mail - it would be really nice. I've asked them to send me a copy of their report when it's done and I'll post it here. Could be interesting.

Day 464 - 06:02pm- Aug. 10, 1998 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my neck, sides, thighs and feet.

Started and stung 4x from below the armpit to the waist. Then, 1 bee escaped Carol's tweezers, landed on my neck and stung me there. Then, stung 1x on the front-center of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve and 1x atop each foot - above the large toe.

The weekend here in upstate NY was really beautiful but warm. The stings continue to do what I need them to do - keep me up and able to do all that needs to be done. My friend Irwin, a fantastic artist, came by the other day and insisted that we go to lunch. I hesitated and protested but in the end decided to go for it. Wasn't much walking - or I should say "shlepping" - that needed to be done - but I was able to do it. Leaning on his shoulder for support, made it in and out of the restaurant. But, it wasn't the walking which was meaningful because it was just "schlepping" - although I'm not belittling the ability to "schlepp" either - but it was the fact that I had the "oomph" and energy to attempt it and do it. The fact that the fatigue was not prevalent not allowing me to "move". That's what the bees do, I feel. It keeps me in the ballgame. It may not be a cure - but it's a blessing.

And here's a short e-mail I received from a veteran stinger. Steve writes:

". . . IM AM STILL STINGING AWAY.....ITS BEEN 5 YEARS AND IM DOING OK
FEELING OK AND SATISFIED MS AS NOT SEEMED TO PROGRESS MUCH I THINK DUE TO
BEE VENOM THERAPY. . . .

. . . I FEEL BAD I DONT PROVIDE MORE INFO ABOUT MY OWN EXPERIENCE WITH BVT CAUSE IT SURE HAS DONE WONDERS FOR ME.....I FEEL LIKE IM A VETERAN, AS YOU KNOW I'VE BEEN STINGING SINCE
JULY 93.

ANYWAY I WOULD ALLOW YOU TO DIRECT PEOPLE WITH QUESTIONS........ TO E-MAIL ME FOR SOME OF MY OPINIONS ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF BVT AND MS.

WHILE MY HAND IS STILL IN THE RECOVERY MODE IM AVOIDING TYPING AS MUCH

Well, the fact that Steve has been stinging for 5 years says an awful lot to me. It's obviously doing much for keeping the "dis-ease" in check. Steve is open and nice enough to welcome others to write and have him share his experience with him. It's an opportunity you may not want to pass up.

Day 466 - 06:22pm- Aug. 12, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my thighs, legs, feet and arms.

Started and stung 1x on the outside of each buttock. Then, 1x on the outside of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each kneecap. Then, 1x on each calve & 1x behind the outside of each ankle and 1x atop each foot above the large toe. Finally, 1x on the sides of each arm.

The stings on Monday were good but the heat and humidity is still with us. I'm forever torn between enjoying the sunshine and sitting in it - but getting fatigued. So if I do, I jump into the pond and feel revived - feeling better than at any other time. Today for example, I went in twice. And what a difference.

I've been hearing from various cyber-friends who are having a difficult time with the weather. I can only say, stay cool and don't try and do more than you can.

Here's a link to the MS Association of America that my cyber-buddy Fred from the Weeping Willow Ostrich Ranch sent me. Fred's a really super guy and always looking for new and natural things. This site that he'd sent me is really good and one worth going to. Lots of good reading about MS in general and Bee Venom Therapy research for controlling the symptoms of MS - as well as for Arthritis. To get to the Bee Venom material, go to the "therapy" link and then click on "EMF".

We're all looking for relief and for anything that will make our lives a bit easier and more manageable. The MS Association of America seems to be an open minded organizations looking to improve the world in which we live. They are also doing research in 'Elctro-magnetic" Therapy, which a lot of people are talking about lately, as well as with "Cool Suits". Well, in leu of a "cool suit" I use the pond. Check out the site.

Day 468 - 05:52pm- Aug. 14, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my back and chest.

Started and stung 5x down either side of the spine - approx. 5" from spine. Then, stung 1x on either side an inch or 2 closer to the spine. Then, stung 1x on either side of the chest just beside the crack of the armpit.

Well, the weather here in my part of the country has cooled off a bit - at least for a few days. With the humidity down it is quite remarkable as to how my body responds. I continue to maintain that the bee venom keep my condition - as a whole - in a "status-quo" condition. And when the weather conditions ease up, as it has over the last few days, I do feel better. Not as tight in the legs and knees and not sucking on as many ice-pops - battling the fatigue which the heat brings about.

Here's a letter from Donna, who'd stopped stinging - temporarily. Donna writes:

". . . The steroids did not seem to help at all. I continue to do message and visits to the chiropracter too. What is going on with my hands and arms may be something called repetative stress
syndrome. It is common in computer users and I had been putting in alot of
hours at mine. I don't know for sure though and may never know. If it is MS
the bees may take care of the problem too. . . This is just a quick note to let you know that as of tonight, Wednesday, I have started BVT once again. I did my first 8 stings down my spine. I will keep in touch to let you know how it is going. It does feel good to be doing something for myself.I will do 8 more on Friday and then go up to 10 on Sunday. Talk to you later. . . " "Donna Marty" <sixlegs@onramp113.org>

So Donna got off the routine for a while and I know she wishes that she hadn't. But you never know. Perhaps the steroids benefited her in some way - you never know. But now she's into it again and hopefully it will really work for her. I'm very impressed with Donna. She'd fallen off the wagon, but picked herself right back up again. There's a lot to be said about that. Good luck, Donna!

Day 471 - 05:56pm- Aug. 17, 1998 EST

Stung 8x this morning on my legs.

Started and stung 2x on the front of each thigh. Then, 1x on each calve and 1x atop each foot.

Hadn't checked the bees in the jar over the weekend and was surprised to see that a good number had died and there were only 8 remaining. So. . .

Had definitely missed not stinging my legs on Friday. I'm begininng to think that a few stings on my legs every other day is a must. Felt tight, "schlepped" along - but always feel so much looser and not as stiff when I sting my thighs and feet just a little. That's why when I saw that I only had a "few" bees remaining this morning, I went for the legs. But, I must also remember that it's importnat to sting the entire body. Also, when I hold back on a particular area for a while it always feels that much more effective.

Here's a letter my cyber-friend John wrote to me regarding "raw" honey. John writes:

" . . . I assume that since you have a relationship greater than customer with your
bee keeper you could come up with a jar of raw honey i.e. never heated other
than by the bees or ambient temerature out side.

If John can furnish you with such a jar, try a teaspoon in the morning and
a teaspoon at night especially when you sting the "three mile" point.

Please let me know any observations and what they are. . . " John <jbrackman@fidnet.com>

I'd never really realized what "raw" honey was and John has a good thought here. Certainly something to try and I should be able to get a jarful from John the beekeeper. I know that John, my cyber-friend, has some hives of his own now and probably giving it a try as well. I wonder if others have had any experience with using "raw" honey.

Day 474 - 10:04am- Aug. 20, 1998 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my back, neck, thighs and feet,

Started and stung 5x down either side of the spine (approx. 5"). Then, 1x on either side of the neck. Then, 1x on the front of each thigh and finally 1x atop each foot.

Neither Katrina nor Gavin were able to secure a new jar of bees for me until yesterday afternoon so I postponed my sting session until this morning.

The few stings that I'd done on my legs on Monday definitely made the difference. Although still tight and stiff, the stings just make it easier. Swimming when I can - when it's not raining. Received a new shipment of herbs from my sister in Israel. Had run out of them a while ago and looking forward to seeing if taking them again on a regular basis gets me feeling more energetic as they had when I'd taken them last year.

Now, here's an e-mail from Ron. He's been stinging for a while with really good results. Ron writes:

". . . I just came across your site tonight via a link from Matt's Multiple
Sclerosis Hot List. My website is listed two above yours there.

(Ron Snyder's MS Story; http://www.designer2.com/indexx.html

I have really enjoyed your enthusiasm and honesty conveyed in your
writings. I was diagnosed with MS in March of 92 and began bee sting
therapy in January of this year. I go to a apple orchard just outside of
Brighton, Illinois (approximately 50 miles from St. Louis, MO), for
stingings twice a week in a two-room area within one of the large barns.

I do feel much, much better, Barry. I am able to move about better, and
maintain continued useage of my hands, arms, and legs. I tired out
still, but somewhat less than I did in the year or two prior to the
beginning of the honey bee stings.

And, yes. Those little bugers do hurt. Haha. . . " Ron Snyder <rsnyder@designer2.com>

Ron is a committed stinger and more than that he is also committed to doing all that he can to make his life as full and rich as possible. He's not laying back and bemoaning his fate. He's doing much for others as well. Lot of respect for this man. Check out his page. It's good stuff.

Day 478 - 5:12pm- Aug. 24, 1998 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my shoulders, back, hips, thighs and feet.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 2x on either side of the spine - midway between the shoulder & waist - (approx 2" from the spine). Then, 1x on each hip. Then, 1x on the outside of each thigh and 1x on each knee. Then, 1x on the outside of each calve and finally 1x atop each foot.

The overall stinging continues to make me feel as though my condition is stabilizing. This is good for me. And i'm really liking stinging down my entire body. John McCoy, the beekeeper from Franklin MT., came by the other day and started to remove some of the honey from the hives. You should see him around those bees - crawling alomg his hands and fingers - so calm and cool. Very exciting, and even shot some video of John at work - as much as I was able. I asked him about the possibility of him giving me some "raw" honey and of course his response was "no problem". So I look forward to getting a jar and taking some daily and see what it does or how it might make me feel.

The weekend was hot and humid but I nevertheless was feeling up to an outdoor blues concert not far from where we are. Spent the day outside with the family having fun, eating our picnic lunch and listening to some great "live" music. Brought the electric scooter, of course, and used lots of ice to stay cool. Took a large freezer baggie, loaded it with ice cubes, stuffed it into my baseball cap and fitted it neatly atop my head. And it worked and we all had a fun time! I just keep feeling that without the bees the fatigue from the heat and all would have made it impossible - with or without ice. The Bee Venom Therapy keeps me in the "ballgame".

Day 480 - 5:22pm- Aug. 26, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my shoulders, arms and hands.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 2x on each arm. Then, 1x on each elbow. Then, 1x on each forearm and 1x on each wrist and 1x on each hand between thumb and index finger.

When out yesterday afternoon with my daughter Katrina, 12, to get a fresh jarful of bees. She suits up and goes down into the small gully to fetch them and I wait on top and watch her. She brings back quite a few - not only in the mayonnaise jar but a good number more buzzing around her as well. She hands me the jar and man, all those bees that hadn't made it into the jar, they wanted in too! Anyway, two bees become entangled in my hair and sting me twice on either side of the scalp. No big deal, though. I felt pretty darn good this morning.

So, we're all doing what we can with what there is. Stinging, vitamins, herbs, acupuncture etc. etc. My cyber-buddy Fred is going to Mexico next week for a three week stint to undergo an "electro-magnetic" treatment that claims to "heal" this "dis-ease". Yeah, I'm skeptical. But Fred's been having some exacerbations recently and is looking for more. Can't blame him for that. I have lots of respect for Fred at the Weeping Willow Ostrich Ranch. He has been a committed stinger, off and on, for years and a great cyber-buddy, too. I'll be keeping my eye on him because I don't "poo-poo" anything and if this treatment proves to do what it claims, I'll be on the next plane to Mexico. Fred promises to keep me abreast of what he's doing and may even be in a position to send me e-mail from inside the confines of the clinic itself. I'll be looking forward to his correspondence and posting accordingly. Good luck, Fred.

Different things work for different people. But for me, so far, Bee Venom Therapy is doing more than anything else.

Day 482 - 5:05pm- Aug. 28, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my legs, thighs and feet.

Started and stung 2x on the front of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each kneecap. Then, 1x on each calve and 3x on each foot - 1x behind the ankle bone, 1x atop the foot and 1x on the crease.

The stings on Wednesday on my arms and hands were great. I hadn't stung that area in a while - the hands in particular- and indeed they swelled. This, I think, means that it had been time and was over-due. Anyway, my hands and fingers certainly feel nice and fluid - not tight or stiff. This I believe is how the Bee Venom Therapy works to keep this "dis-ease" under control - by continously stinging all over the body. MS is a total body dis-order.

My cyber-friend JudyA had sent me an e-mail in which she had reminded me that stinging all parts of the body, when it comes to this "dis-ease" is important. So I thank her for her support. I tend to stay focused primarily on the legs and the walking - or "schlepping" - but walking isn't everything. It's a lot, but with MS there is so much more that needs tending to. And the Bee Venom Therapy seems to work on all parts of the body with no harmful side effects.

Day 485 - 6:15pm- Aug. 31, 1998 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my back, chest, knees and feet.

Started and stung 3x down either side of my back (approx. 5" from the spine). Then, stung 1x on either side of the chest - about 2" from the crease of the armpit. Then, 1x on the outside of each kneecap and finally 1x atop each foot just above the large toe.

Well, I'm still stinging and still feeling its positive results. Went to my friend Rob's house/boutique to get my hair "styled" and once again was happy to be able to "schlepp" the 50 ft. in, and 50 ft. out of his house. Yes, I stung before going and yes, I needed to use Carol's (my wife) shoulder for support. But I did it and if the stinging translates into keeping my condition "status-quo", I am very grateful.

My cyber-buddy Fred is off for three weeks to a Mexican clinic tomorrow for "electro-magnetic" therapy and my thoughts and prayers are with him. Fred writes:

". . .Well in the last two weeks I have gone from being able to walk
unassisted to a total wheel chair stage.
Now it is moving to my upper body with no end in sight.Thought many
times what brought all this on and I know now what happened.
Stress. To many things going on for too many years and it finally caught
up with me.
It sure took me by surprise, just out of the clear blue sky.
I'm tired of sitting, and tired of being tired.
But I'm not giving up,I have one more battle to fight and it will begin
on tuesday. The battle of my life.
I'm sorry Barry I just have a real hard time accepting what's happening.
I was dealing with what was going on in my life pretty good but
this,this is tough.
Just to fast and I wasn't ready for it,but I suppose nobody could
prepare for something like this.
I am hopeful of this treatment but I am also skeptical.
I will be as honest and as straight forward as I can about what's going
on when I email you from down there.
Hopefully I can get to a computer.
OK barry this is the last email from the U.S.Have lots to do tomorrow or
I should say Sharon does to get ready for this trip on tuesday.
God bless you and you will be on my mind and in my thoughts. " Fred Fred Soly <fsoly@ssvec.org>

I'm really feeling for Fred. He's a true buddy and has given me tremendous support throughout this bee stinging journey right from the start. He'd been a committed stinger, off and on, for years and I know that over the past 3 or 4 months his life has been really hectic and busy and stressful. Just getting a shipment of bees to his ranch in Arizona, alive and not dying during transport from the heat, has made stinging on a regular basis difficult and almost impossible for him. Would a continuous regiment of stinging have made any difference to his present set circumstances? Nobody knows. This "dis-ease" has a mind of its own.

So I'm out there with Fred and am looking forward to his correspondence. No doubt he's going thru an exacerbation period and with God's help this will all pass quickly. And I so admire and respect the man because he's not giving up. He's moving ahead and doing all that he can with whatever there is to do it with. In the meanwhile, I am grateful for the eleven hives I have out back and go forward stinging regularly. Because for me, I have been fortunate in that the Bee Venom Therapy continues to make the difference.

Day 487 - 6:46pm - Sept. 2, 1998 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my sides, arms and hands.

Started on my sides below the crack of the armpit and stung 3x down either side. Then, 1x on each arm behind the bicep. Then, 1x on each elbow and 1x on each forearm and finally 1x on each hand - between the thumb and index finger.

The weather has definitely turned less humid and much more comfortable. As I awake in the mornings I feel much looser and less tight and stiff. There's no doubt that the humidity - or lack of it - makes a qualitative difference in how my body functions.

And I continue to take advantage of the "warmer" weather and swim religiously in the cool pond. Always energized after a 15 minute swim and the exercise has to be good for me. Was at my friend Elizabeth Neild's "end of summer" pottery and cereamics exhibition and a number of folks commented on how much more "energetic" I appeared. I'm convinced this is due to the swimming. Don't even want to think about the Fall and Winter and the change in seasons.

Now, here's a letter from James whose wife Nancy is dealing with MS. They've been stinging for a while and it seems to be making quite a difference. James writes:

". . . My wife was first diagnosed with MS over 12 years ago, and after a few
months of mild symptoms, IT went into remission. When IT came back a
little over two years ago, IT came back with a vengence, as though it was
making up for lost time.
Fortunately, we live in the Washington, DC area and had read about "The
Bee-Lady of Waldorf" Pat Wagner, so we called her and asked to come by to
meet her and learn avout BVT. That visit resulted in Nancy's initial 8
stings, and we went back to continue the therapy sessions Pat has in her
home every other day. After observing Pat's techniques, we decided to do our own at home and ordered our girls from Greg Ferris.
As I got more and more into honeybees we decided to raise our own bees . . .

The first hive was a roaring success (or should I say buzzing)
and this year I started two more hives. Anyway, fortunately, Nancy has
never lost her mobility, but she has gone through all the other
aches and pains, and this year had to have a suprapubic catheter installed
in her abdomen because the signals for a full bladder got lost in the
"wiring" . . . I have printed many pages of your journal for my wife to read. It is so
easy to get discouraged about BVT until one reads your journal and the
comments of other BVT veterans. We have the benefit of being in the
Washington DC area and can consult with Pat Wagner when things seem at
their darkest. Therre is no doubt the bees have provided an immense benefit
to my wife, and we have even helped people with arthritis to get relief
from their pain. I will gladly help anyone in the Silver Spring, Maryland
area with their need for bees . . . " "JAMES H ROBBINS SR." <ROBBINSNEST@prodigy.net>

James is a good man and Nancy is a very blessed woman, indeed. He sees what the Bee Venom Therapy is doing for Nancy and is now anxious to do what he can to share it with others. Well, if you're in or around the Maryland area, what a great opportunity. James has opened his heart and his hives to those who are interested and in need. It's certainly worth an e-mail. And what about Nancy's bladder problems? Does anyone have any BVT solutions she might try?

Day 489 - 5:33pm - Sept. 4, 1998 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my thighs, legs and feet.

Started and stung 2x on either side of each thigh. Then, 1x on each calve. Then, 3x on each foot - 1x just above the small toe, 1x on the crease of the foot and 1x on the inside of each ankle.

Weather remauns cooler and has been rainy so I haven't been swiming much over the past few days but the weekend should be nice. But my energy has been up and I'm looking forward to the weekend with some close freiend coming up to spend some time with us. I haven't seen them in a year or so . . . so we'll see how I'm preceived. Always a good measure.

Heard from my good buddy Fred in the "bowels" of the Mexican clinic undergoing Electro-magnetic Therapy. Fred's been stinging off and on for years and after experiencing some serious exacerbations he's decided to give this treatment a try. Fred writes:

". . . Just wanted to let everyone know I made the trip alright.Everyone has been very helpful with me getting settled in.
The first day of treatment involved the standard neuro exam and taking of your blood pressure. All of which I passed with flying colors.
With the first treatment one does not realize anything is going on until I went to get up and was a little light headed, but within a few hours felt ok.
Yesterday 50% of the M.S. virus and the remainder will be gone today,
One of the patients Sid Smith noticed yesterdsay he was able to lift his leg up while he was in the pool.
He had not been able to do that in several months.
They say by Friday I will begin to feel tried from the treatment but will pass with time.
Today is my second treatment and I will report tomorrow on my experiences.
Tom who runs the clinic is a very sincere person and believes in what he is doing.
That's all for now. . . " Fred . . . at the "Theratec Clinic SA DE CV" <theratec@interclan.net>

Well, I wish Fred lots of great success with this treatment and will await further correspondence. You have to admit, it almost sounds too good to be true. 50% of the MS - gone and the remainder to go tomorrow. Well, time will tell. It's a three week regime and then years of recuperation. I can understand the recuperation period - getting muscles and nerves that haven't been working properly for years to get back into the groove. But I would think that once the MS is "gone" there shouldn't be any more of those "battles with fatigue" and "bad reactions to heat and humidity". Right? That's what I think. But only time will tell. But I hope and pray that this treatment proves successful for Fred.

Day 492 - 5:57pm - Sept. 7, 1998 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my back, thighs, knees, neck and abdomen.

started and stung 4x down either side of my back - approx. 2" from the spine. Then, 1x on the front of each thigh and 1x below each knee. Then, 1x on either side of the neck - below the hair-line - and finally 1x just below the belly button.

Been feeling pretty good and enjoying the weekend. Received the herbs from my sister in Israel and have resumed taking them once again . . . along with a good number of vitamins. Alice Waag, the 87 year old reflexologist who lives on Mt. Vision, called and wanted to know what gives. Had to tell her - I'd be laying off for a while. Had given relexology a good go for some time and it just didn't seem to do much. . . for me. Doesn't mean that it doesn't do much for others. To each his own.

Here's an e-mail from my good cyber-friend Donna Chandler. Donna writes:

". . .Sorry to be so long, but with work, it is very hard to have puter time. Just
wanted to touch base and from the journal you seem to be hanging in
there. My appointment with my neurto was the 31st and he gave to me those two
sweet words I long to hear....NO PROGRESSION....Donna <don1948@halifax.com>

Well, those certainly are the words we all want to hear. Donna has been stinging for over five years and the regime certainly seems to be doing the job. Great news for a great lady. Good luck, Donna.

Day 494 - 5:47pm - Sept. 9, 1998 EST

Stung 10x this morning on my arms and hands.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder, 1x on the arms, 1x on each elbow, 1x on each forearm and 1x on each hand - between thumb and index finger.

Had a nice weeklend and now the summer is officially over with the kids back in school. Both Gavin, 14, and Katrina, 12, were quite excited about starting the new year with one entering junior-high and the other high-school. Life moves on and things move forward and I just keep on stinging because the Bee Venom Therapy keeps me in the throws of life. For this I am grateful.

Here's another letter from Fred who is presently in a Mexican Clinic undergoing Electro-magnetic Therapy. Fred writes:

". . . Sept.5. . . in the afternoon received the second and final treatment of the week.
Sunday we take off and reflect on the weeks past.
Tom took us out to dinner that night which was a nice break for us.
Monday Sept.7 I received two BOFL treatments which left me a little tired because the amps. are much higher.
Tomorrow I begin hydrotherapy at eight in the morning and receive the usual two treatments.
We also welcomed Marylou from Minnesota today.
Tom asked her what her goal was while receiving treatment here at the clinic as she has had this disease for thirty years.
Her answer was for her head not to shake when she received communion.
Kind of hit a soft spot in my heart.. . .

And then this morning I received this:

Sept. 8. . .
Today was different.I went in the pool at 8:00 this morning which made me feel energized and gave me a good start on the day.
Recieved two treatments today with about fifteen amps. running through my body.
I must be getting used to it because I havn't been as tired today.
Then in the afternoon they did something called plating which sends electrical impluses through your body and stimulates the nerve endings.
Another woman named Grace began treatment today. Now there are five of us under going the therapy.
Havn't noticed any real improvement yet but it has only been a week now since I've been here.
That's all for now. " Fred . . at the "Theratec Clinic SA DE CV" <theratec@interclan.net>

Well, Fred's been a committed stinger, off and on, for many years and now he's trying this. I'm posting his letters because I am open to any possible cures and treatments - as are we all. On that note, my cyber-friend John, who is a committed bee therapy person as well, sent me this note. John writes:

". . . I got the book, "The Body Electric" . . . The first part of the book is an amazing medical finding and a deep look at the whole research system. The end is more on magnetic influences. Anyone who has read The Body Electric would be very interested in the clinic in Mexico. Please add me to your list of very interested folks. . . " John <jbrackman@fidnet.com>

John s a very smart man with a very open mind and if he suggests The Body Electric as a book to buy and read I will certainly give it a go. Anyone else who's interested in reading this book, I've added the title to my "Books To Order" page at the links section on the bottom of this page. Meanwhile, good luck, Fred.

Day 496 - 6:12pm - Sept. 11, 1998 EST

Stung 16x on my hips, thighs, knees and feet.

Started and stung 1x on each hip. Then, 2x on the outside of each thigh and 1x on each side of each knee. Then, 1x othe outside of each calve and finally 2x on each foot - 1x above the large toe and 1x above the small toe.

The weather has been quite cool and rainy here and I haven't had opportunity to do much swimming. This I've missed but the weather promises to warm up a bit this weekend. Hope so. Energy level has been okay but have felt a little too stiff and tight in the legs. Perhaps this is because it's been very humid. Perhaps because I'd only stung 10x on Wednesday. Perhaps because I've missed the swimming exercise. Perhaps because I hadn't had that weekly massage in a few weeks. Well, stung this morning, will swim this weekend (hopefully), Coleen is coming over tomorrow morning for a massage session. Things to look forward to.

Here's an e-mail from Irena who is stinging and then some. Irena writes:

". . . Hello. I have been reading your page ,but just today I am able to write to
you. I was diagnosed in '86 with progressive MS.
I am doing BVT since March'98. I belive that many other thing very important
like diet. I am vegaterian and don't eat dairy products. It's working for my
joints gluckosamine sulfate.I eat a lot honey and bee polen. I feel much
better. Ah, it is very important to exercise too!. . . " Irena.IrenaTC@aol.com

Irena sounds like she's got a good head on her shoulders and a great attitude. The Bee Venom Therapy also seems to be doing positive things for her. But she's not stopping there. Her enthusiasm is very motivating - especially her comment regarding exercise. It's easy to let that fall because it takes a lot out of you. We all have to force ourselves to do what we can, whether we're dealing with MS or just wish to live a healthy existence. My good friend Bob who'd spent the weekend here with his wife Nita and daughter Sofie reminds me of that often - by example. A fine specimen of a man that he is, he works out daily, eats healthy foods and doesn't take his good health for granted. He "earns" his good fortune through his commitment to living "right".

Day 499 - 5:22pm - Sept. 14, 1998 EST

Stung 18x this morning on my neck, shoulders, back, wrists, thighs and feet.

Started and stung 1x on either side of the neck. Then, 4x down either side of the back - approx. 4" from the spine. Then, 1x on the outsidd of each elbow and 1x atop each wrist - palms down. Then, 1x on the front of each thigh and finally 1x atop each foot above the middle toes.

The weather here has certainly turned much nicer and I've been fortunate to be able and swim in the cool pond. The times that I "indulge" are always great. Carol continues to remind me that "I don't have much time to enjoy the pond" and is always urging me outside. I love her and appreciate her - because I can no doubt lose myself on the computer. Time enough for that.

The stings on Friday kept me loose through the weekend and I'd decided to crank up the number of stings today to see if I could get an extra rush of energy. So far so good.

Here's some more correspondence from my cyber-buddy Fred down in Mexico undergoing that Electro-magnetic therapy. Fred had been a committed stinger, off and on, for many, many years and thus I follow what he's up to. He's in search of "the Holy Grail". Fred writes:

Sept.14,1998
Today I went in the pool to exercise and as usual it felt good. The other day Tom had me lay on the therapy table flat and asked me to lift my
legs straight up.The left leg was no problem but on the right leg there was no response no matter how hard I tried.Basically the right leg felt
dead.
Today I told him to go down at the end of the table as I wanted to show him something.
I lifted my right leg up about three inches off the table a couple of times. The last time I was able to do that was roughly a month ago.
So little by little things seem to be coming on line.I just hope they keep going.
Got worked over pretty good today so I am tired. My friend Sid and Fernando went home today so there is just Grace,Marylou and myself.
Ready to hit it tomorrow. Fred

Fred at the Theratec Clinic SA DE CV" <theratec@interclan.net>

Sounds like some wonderful things are happening for Fred. Not to rain on his party, I know that up until a few months ago Fred had been able to walk unassisted. It has only been fairly recently, over the summer, that Fred had started experiencing some real exacerbations which is what had prompted his visit to this clinic. Nevertheless, if this therapy is helping him come back - in any shape, manner or form - this in and of itself is great. I'll be anxious to follow Fred along and see how much more improvement this therapy offers him over time. I'm with him all the way.

Day 501 - 5:30pm - Sept. 16, 1998 EST

Stung 18x this morning on my shoulders, sides, arms, hands and thighs.

Started and stung 1x behind each shoulder. Then, 3x down either side of the torso. Then, 1x on each forearm and 1x on each wrist (palms down) and 1x on each hand between thumb and index finger. Finally, 1x on the front of each thigh.

Katrina, my 12 year old who has become the "beelady of Gilbertsville" went out and fetched me a fresh jarful of bees. They sure were feisty this morning many of them escaping Carol's, my wife, tweezers. And they hurt and burned as well. No mater how often I sting, they still do hurt and swell.

Well, hopefully yesterday had not been my last day in the pond. The temperature was in the 80's and I indulged. The coolness was great, always giving me a terrific sense of clarity and balance and energy. Soon I will have to rely solely on the bees for the surges of energy - which always comes immediately after stinging. Ah, if only it lasted longer.

Here's a letter from Wayne who shares with us some important personal learning experience. Wayne writes

". . . WARNING : DO NOT TAKE IBUPROFEN IN CONJUNCTION WITH
BVT..... Linda with out saying anything to me, started taking Ibuprofen for some pain in her leg, and it knock her on her Butt literally, I started noticing she was not improving at the rate she had been, In fact she started to back slide at a very rapid rate, needless to say I was starting to question BVT until she told me she had started taking Ibuprofen, My first reaction was
soooo, but as a after though I remember reading something on one of the web page about the interaction between BVT and these types of non steroid medications, A quick trip on to the internet confirmed that indeed there had been reported problems with BVT and these types of medication.
Lidna place a call to Pat Wagner in tears afraid of what she might have done to her self, Pat calm her down, and I flush the remaining pills down the toilet, I cut back on her stings from 20 per session to 10 to 14 per session and after about 2 weeks she is now starting to show improvement again.
In any case we have her back on track, and I doubt if she will ever take any type of medication with out first checking to see if there has been any type of reported problem in conjunction with BVT . . . . "
Wayne & Linda C&S <csad@InfoAve.Net>

Well, Wayne is so committed to his wife Linda and so supportive and this comes across so loud and clear in his correspondence and is so great to read. I have to say, this is what I enjoyed most about this letter. And of course, do stay on top of mixing and matching.Personally, I am allergic to aspirin and I believe that this drug has aspirin in it. It's actually too bad that I am allergic to aspirin because aspirin reduces temperature and I've always wondered what sort of an effect it would have on my body.
