Day 1345 - 8:40am - Jan. 6, 2001 EST

Stung 14x yesterday morning on my back, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves and feet.

Started and stung 2x on the lower half of my back. Then, 1x on each hip. Then, 2x atop each thigh and 1x on each calf and 1x on atop each foot - just above the large toe.

The weather cleared up for "just a bit" - and my daughter Katrina, 14, was able to make it down to our eleven hives and secure a bunch of bees for me in a mayonnaise jar. It's been so cold out there with so much snow, the bees don't come out so often. They remain in hibernation unless the sun comes out which warms the hives which wakes up a few. . . . thousand . . . of them. Which isn't really all that much - figuring each hive must keep 25-40,000 bees (I think).
Anyway, yesterday afternoon Katrina, knowing I was anxious too sting, pulled open a cover off one of the hives and scooped out about 60 or so - right off the cover! Don't know how long these will last but I sure was glad to get them and to sting

Here's an email from as woman who may or not be stinging now, but she is living.Chris writes:

"Hi Barry I have written you before when I lived in Denver with the 'Rocky Mt. Bee Highs.' Judy told me about BVT and gave me my first sting(9/15/1997). I have enjoyed your journal for years and appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Now I live in Phoenix and am in a serious relationship. I thought that you might know of a way for my boyfriend to discuss our future with other MS spouses. I am 39, I wobble when I walk, I use a wheelchair in the mall, but I get around. I know we are all different, I just want him to get wise counsel, from people who know. . . If you have any ideas or suggestions I would sure be thankful. Looking for wisdom," Chris

What a wonderful tribute to my dear fri4nd Judy - may her soui rest in peace,

But this is what is so wonderful about Bee Venom Therapy. People who are stinging - and have others in their lives and on their minds - are more often than not - involved in healthy, rewarding and loving relationships. Of all types - sexual ones too.

Chris is not only stinging - and obviously holding her own very nicely, thank you - but she is living.

Anyone with any insight and personal responses please go right ahead and share it. As far as I can tell, Chris is doing all the right things and is already doing the most important thing she can do. She's communicating, talking, writing, being open and involved with life and with the "feelings" of others. She has one lucky boyfriend - that's for sure!

People write to me all the time asking how a person dealing with MS can be involved in a "normal" relationship. Well, here lies the answer, folks. Just like Chris, get out of your "self" and think of others.

Day 1351 - 11:25am - Jan. 12, 2001 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my neck, hips, arms, hands, thighs and knees.

Started and stung 1x on each side of the neck. Then, 1x atop each thigh and 1x on the inside of each knee. Then, 1x on each forearm and 1x on the side of each hand below the pinky finger. Finally, 1x on each hip.

The sun has finally come out here in upstate NY and although there is still plenty of snow it is far more pleasant.

Once again, the stinging session this morning was well worth it. Had been feeling tight and stiff and all the rest but after stinging it all gets better. The legs are looser and the hands and fingers more nimble and a feeling of being energized, awake and alert and ready to live and to work.

Had a new client drop by yesterday afternoon locking for a rather large and intricate website. Carol, my wife, is great at keeping it all going once they're all set up but I'm responsible for conceptualizing and designing the sites and setting them up. Again, Bee Venom Therapy is what gives me the "oomph" to stay on track and do what needs to be done. Without it I'd just lay back and be too tired and fatigued to do anything - and along with it would come all the excuses. . . "can't blame me! Not my fault. I have MS."

Now I'm not saying that there aren't, unfortunately, lots and lots of folks who are suffering with this "dis-ease" and just can't do it. Lord knows there are times that I too am in that very same position - just out of it - and my heart goes out to these people because I know just what they are going through - physically and mentally. MS is a wicked "dis-ease". But for me, when I sting, everything changes. It may not last for long and it may not be a cure. But at least for a little while there is relief.

So I don't need anyone other than my own positive response to this treatment to prove it to me. And for this, I am grateful.

Day 1358 - 11:25am - Jan. 19, 2001 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my hips, thighs, buttocks, calves feet, hands and elbows.. Started and stung 2x atop each thigh, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x on each calf and 1x atop each foot. Finally, 1x on each hand and 1x on the side of each elbow.

My son Gavin, 17, went out yesterday after school and brought me back a very full mayonaise jar filled with bees. I've transported them into the Bee Hotel and we'll just have to wait and see how long these survive.

I'm trying, with the help of my wife Carol, a new method of feeding the bees.

We've made our sugar-water solution and rather than have it drip from a jar atop the box as designed, we've soaked a sponge with the solution and placed it into a small glass inside the box itself. This will eliminate having to clean & clear the pin holes on the lid from where the sugar-water drips. You see, after a day or so, especially in cooler temperatures, the solution crystalizes over the small pin holes of the lid, clogs it up, and the bees are unable to feed. If the sponge dries up I'll just spray the sponge and re-moisten it. In essence, this new method of feeding will allow the bees to simply suck on the sponge and feed themselves. Perhaps this crystalization problem has been why the bees have not been living as long as they should in the Bee Hotel. It's an idea. Like I say, this is not a science - yet - but a process of doing and discovering.

Now, how about this email from a real friend of a person dealing with MS. David writes:

Hi my name is David Watson my friend Lenard has ms found out about it in 1996 3 months ago we started doing the bee stings he has had very good results with it he can acually walk again I couldent believe it it helped after the 1st session and then he quit because it hurt so bad and went right back to the chair so he started again and got right back up were not doing but 3 or 4 a day now im trying to get him to do more and I dont think that we are leaveing them long enough after reading your paper thanks for putting it on the web talk to ya later David

Well, I know why David is excited. David sees something happening and wants to do what he can to help and support a friend. He sounds like a real friend - a special kind of man. I wish Lenard all the best and even greater results. It's so important for him to know that he is not alone out there. And if Bee Venom Therapy has merit, as I believe that it does, the proof - for Lenard - is in the "stinging".

Day 1365 - 10:22 am -Jan. 26, 2001 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my thighs, calves, buttocks, sides and feet. Started and stung 1x on each buttock. Then, 2x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on each calf and 1x on the inside of each ankle and 1x atop each foot - above the large toe. Finally, 2x on each side of my back.

Well, I have not been successful with the bee feeding - they all died on me. Could be for a variety of different reasons so I am not going to give up just yet on this idea. My cyber-friend John sent me an e-mail yesterday and made me realize that there was more to this project than I had originally anticipated. John wrote:

"I will be very interested in the sucess or lack of success with your new feeding method. Does it seem to work? What sort of sponge ie natural(real) or man made? Do the bees tear up the sponge getting to the feed? If it works you may have helped me with my apiary." John

The sponge! John is absolutely correct. I had just cut a piece of a sponge off of a commercial store-bought sponge and hadn't even considered cleaning it before soaking it in the sugar-water solution. That alone could be the reason for my failure. Thanks John.

Day 1370 - 10:24 am -Jan. 31, 2001 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my, hips, buttocks, thighs and hands.

Started and stung 1x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on my right calf and 2x on my left calf. Then, 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x on the inside of my left hand - below the thumb on that meaty part of the palm and finally 1x on the outside of my right hand

I was CC'd an e-mail by Fran, another person dealing with this "dis-ease" in her way. It was written to an old cyber-chum of mine whom I have not really been in touch with for quite some time. Fred, the ostrich farmer of yesteryear, has been into Bee Venom Therapy off and on for many years. If you go back through my Journals you will find much correpondence between us. Fred is bright and determined and I have a high regard for him.

In this letter Fran is updating Fred on her experience as she experiments with a controversial drug called Zocor. I'm not condoning nor condemning the drug or the experiment. I am posting this letter along with my response to it. First, Fran wrote::

. . . yesterday was my mother-in-law's 91st birthday and I left my scooter inside the back door and walked out to my husband's new 2001 Chevy Suburban, that I bought him several months ago (and I've never even been in it), I've just always gotten in my van in my scooter, but I was only going a couple of blocks away to her house and climb the steps and give her her present. So this was a FIRST. I walked to the car holding my husband's arm and got in. I have no balance, but can now walk with my cane (since taking the Zocor), which I didn't even take with me. I walked in her house and sat down. . . . I walked into the kitchen, touching the walls, and acted NORMAL. I can STAND UP STRAIGHT and look normal, if you don't ask me to move. LOL Sat in the kitchen and ate cake, and later walked through the kitchen, down the back 4 steps, to the car. After I have been up and moving around, very slowly, then it does seem like I want to get to where I'm going and SIT DOWN. But this is something I haven't done in 12 years.

Started on the Zocor::::::(Fred, this is for you) Zocor 20mg on 11/08/00- 3 days Zocor 40mg on 11/13/00-14 days Zocor 60mg on 11/27/00- 1 day Zocor 80mg on 11/28/00-21 days Zocor 60mg on 12/19/00- 3 days Zocor 40mg on 12/22/00- 6 days, then off for 10 days, not really knowing if I was going to continue, but then decided to refill prescription and continue. Had a perfect liver test when I began, cholesterol was 179, had another liver test which was perfect and cholesterol was 142. Went back on Zocor 40mg on 1/07/01- 8 days Zocor 60mg on 1/15/01- 2 days Zocor 80mg on 1/17/01- 7 days Zocor 60mg on 1/24/01- 5 days I think that I will start back on 80mg tonight for probably another week. I guess it depends on my mood?????? Since my liver tests have been perfect then I won't be needing another one for 6 months. At first, I thought that this was just another "wanna be", but I really think that it is doing something. I may not be a good candidate because my balance is so bad to begin with, and maybe YOU would be better with the Zocor, if you hadn't lost any balance. I am more excited this month than last month, though. Hoping that you can get the Zocor and outdo ME, "

This is a wonderful report and I wish Fran all the best. But here are my thoughts. In a response to Fred:I wrote:

"This is all pretty impressive and if it works - if it gets Fran or you up and walking - great. Meanwhile I'm still concerned about the side effects. Anytime one's liver is being compromised - I believe - one is treading on dangeropus territory. When Fran says, "I walked into the kitchen, touching the walls, and acted NORMAL. I can STAND UP STRAIGHT and look normal, if you don't ask me to move. LOL. . . " Well, I'm doing the same thing with Bee Venom Therapy and "know" that I'm not doing any harm to the remaining parts of my body. When I get stung,., I feel it work. Right then and there. And no, it doesn't last long enough - you know that - but it keeps me prerpared for when the "magic bullet" does comes along. And with the help of God, it will in our lifetime. They say it is possible in another 5 or 10 years.

And if Zocor is it you know I'll take it too. So I'll be keeping my eye on you if you try this drug. As you know I have always looked to you as the "Lewis & Clark" of MS drug experimentation. Just be careful. Because once you go back to the doctor for a check up and they find that your liver is beginning to malfunction - you then have to start taking care of that.

As for me, I'll just keep stinging in the hope of keeping my condition status quo until there is some real discovery - which indeed this may be. But as you well know, when it comes to this "dis-ease" there aren't any garuntees and what works for one may not work for another. Anyway, I just had to comment but you know I have warm feelings for you and wish you much success. Let me know how1 you're doing. I'll probably be posting this e-mail on my site today because this is what it's really all about. Making the most of what there is - leaving no stone unturned. All the best and regards." Barry

Day 1377 - 10:24 am -Feb. 7, 2001 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my shoulders, arms, sides, hips, thighs and feet.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 2x down each side of the torso. Then, 1x on each hip and 2x atop each thigh. Finally, 1x atop each foot and 1x on each calf.

Received a lot of e-mail regarding my last entry and I just want to say that I am not promoting Zocor or anything at all. Not even Bee Venom Therapy. I am only after whatever works. For me, so far, Bee Venom Therapy is the "poison of choice" based on the risks and results. But you can be sure that I will keep my ears and mind open to anything and everything. We're all after the same thing and until the real cure reveals itself it behooves us to disregard any and all options. In regard to Zocor, I will keep myself updated as to Fran's progress. And as for Bee Venom Therapy, I will do the same as to my own experience.

On that note, here's an e-mail from Barb, She writes:

" . . . I live in Ft Wayne, Indiana - I understand Bee stings has helped MS Patients - where do I go, and what do I get done?? Thank you so much!! "Barb Cox"

I've written to Barb but if there are others who live close by to her or perhaps there are those who have it in them to share and support, why not drop Barb an e-mail. Would mean a lot to her I'm sure.

Day 1384 - 10:02 am -Feb. 14, 2001 EST

Stung 17x this morning on my hips, the inside of my thighs, knees, ankles and atop my feet and on my hands.

Started and stung 1x on each hip. Then, 2x on the inside of each thigh and 1x on the inside of each knee. Then, 1x on the inside of each ankle and 1x on each foot above the large toe. Then, 1x on the outside of each elbow and 2x on my right hand - between thumb and index finger and on the side of the hand - and finally 1x on the left hand between thumb and index finger.

Hands have been feeling a little tight at the end of the day so gave my right hand a little extra. Always helps and always loosens things up. I've been doing a lot of work on the computer lately. But stinging always makes me feel so much better - not only the tightness and stiffness but lots of energy as well.

Talk about energy, here's an e-mail from a woman whose husband is dealing with this "dis-ease" and not giving in. Carla writes:

". . . My husband was diagnosed with progressive ms in 1996. Today he is walking with a walker with much difficulty. He hasn't given up but is really tired of doctors. He had a baclofen pump inserted under his skin. The stiffness isn't as bad but the use is still minimal. I've heard of bee therapy and was wanting more information. Our biggest problem is John (my husband) is allergic to bees. Farming is our occupation. I've had to quit my job and now help on the farm. Our goal is for John to be able to get on a tractor and help to some degree. Some days it is almost impossible but he always tries. Any information would be very appreciated. . . " Carla Langston

Well, here's a person who is not willing to simply "roll over" - simply can't - and he and his wife are doing all that they can with what there is. Carla sounds terrific and supportive. There is no doubt that John should do a test sting and have an Epi-pen ready at all times - as anyone who experiments with Bee Venom Therapy must. But he should know that very few people are allergic to HONEY bees. Other bees, yes. But very few are allergic to the honey bee.

If there are others out there that have had that same concern and have overcome it, perhaps a little support would be in order. John sounds like a tough guy - someone who might really benefit from Bee Venom Therapy. I'd like to support him in any way that I can.

Day 1392 - 9:05 am -Feb. 22, 2001 EST

Stung 5x yesterday on my left hand, buttocks and calf.

Katrina had gone out the day before and brought back about 20 bees in a mayonnaise jar. But for some reason most of them expired by the following morning. So with only a handful I stung my left hand 2x - my thumb and index finger had really been cramping - and then stung my buttocks - which loosens up my back - and my left calf. The important thing - I feel - is to just keep some venom in my system on an ongoing basis.

I have to admit the winter does seem to be dragging this week here in Upstate New York. Looking forward to the warmer Spring days and even warmer Summer ones and swimming in the pond. I'm certainly not exercising as much as I should or could be and am feeling tighter. But I am stretching and lifting small 3-5 pound weights and this is helpful. Then again, as my beutiful wife Carol reminds me, I'll be 51 years old next week.

Now, here's an e-mail from a newly diagnosed woman. Adrienne writes:

". . . I have just finished reading your journal. I am about to start the bee therapy for my MS. I was diagnosed in 1988 and have been doing well for mobility but I have fatigue so bad that I can barely function. I was always so active and this fatigue is really getting me down. I'm also pretty much isolated and really feeling lost. Please give me any insight you can as to what the sting therapy seems to do for fatigue and depression. Thanks . . . "
Adrienne Wall asc@nwlink.com from Bainbridge Island WA

I've written to Adrienne and indeed Bee Venom Therapy did and does wonders for many MS symptoms - including fatigue and depression. And there are other medications that her doctor might prescribe such as Ritalin and Prozac. But I am not a doctor, just another guy dealing with this "dis-ease" in any way that I can.

I wish Adrienne all the best and know that what she needs now more than anything else is just some old fashioned support. This is a tough and uncertain trip that we are all on - with or without Multiple Sclerosis. And the easiest and greatest thing that one human being can give to another is encouragement. In life one may be unable to "set" things right but in the blink of an eye - or with just the right words - we might be able to assist Adrienne in "seeing it rightly".

Day 1400 - 1139 am - March 2, 2001 EST

Stung 18x last night over my entire body. Gavin, my 17 year old, braved the snow to fetch a jarful of bees for me late yesterday afternoon. The 11 hives are set at the end of our property close to the creek and down an icy, and most surely slippery, little slope.

Started and stung 2x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on each calf. Then, 1x on the outside of each foot. Then, 2x atop each hand - on the sides and in-between the thumb and pointer. Then 2x down each side and 1x on each hip.

After watching those fresh "buzzing" bees for a while I'd asked Katrina, my soon to be 15 year next week, if she would sting me - right then. Carol, my wife and a committed "morning" person, prefers to sting with me in the mornings. Matter of fact, she insists upon it. Anyway, after watching the bees "jumping" out from the canter of the toilet paper roll leaning up against the inside of the glass, I was anxious to feel the benefit's of the venom in my body. I hadn't had a session all week. Sounds weird? All I can say is, it just "feels" right.

Stinging with Katrina at night was different and great fun. At one point she dropped the tweezers into the jar and several escaped buzzing towards the overhead light fixture. I had it under control though. After all this time I'd better!

I haven't stung at night very often but interestingly enough the energy did carry over into today. I'm not referring to the "surge" of energy I experience as I'm being stung and for the few hours following the session. But I awoke this morning strong and alert - ready to take on the day.

Here's an interesting e-mail from Cindy who writes:

". . .I wanted to try bee sting therapy. I found a Dr. Who would charge me 100 and 35 dollars for each session. I wondered if you knew where you could get the serum and I could have my aide do it for me? Please help if you can. I live in Las Vegas. Thank you," Cindy McCoy

Perhaps there's someone nearby that can pitch in and connect with Cindy. She sounds like she could use the assistance. $135!! That's crazy! I don't know about serum but I do know about "scam". Perhaps someone might be able to demonstrate the procedure for her aide. As I always say, this ain't brain surgery.

Finally, many people are unaware that one of the greatest hopes for people like us and others with dis-eases like MS, lies in further funding and study of stem cell research.  Unfortunately, with the transfer of power from the more liberal to the more conservative politicians in our government, this ground breaking research is in jeopardy of being discontinued.  "The use of stem cells was a mere dream a few years ago. It has now, as Dr. Freed reported, moved from a theoretical possibility to a proven reality."  In plain English, that means a cure for this and many other dis-eases lies in this research.  So please, click on the link below and learn more about this research and then sign the petition.  We need to get 100,000 names in the next couple of weeks.
If your so inclined, pass the information on to others on your email list...family, friends, even neighbors that you don't like.

Day 1407 - 10:09 am - March 9, 2001 EST

Stung 6x last night on my neck, hips and forearms.

Started and stung 1x on each side of the neck. Then, 1 x on each forearm and 1x on each hip.

Once again, Katrina, my 15 year old, had the "honor" of stinging me although the honor was all mine. The bees just don't seem to be lasting long but the ids a re able to keep returning to the hives to get me more. I'm blessed. . Oh well, as long as I keep somewhat of a steady stream of venom going into my system on some kind of steady basis, I'm in pretty good shape. And besides, regardless as to how much I sting it's always invigorating. I suppose this is what stinging on an "as needed" basis means. As needed and as is possible.

The weather continues to be frigid so I am real happy to be able to sting with what I've got. This morning we awoke to another 10"s of snow on our already 3 feet! Fun, fun, fun I suppose - if you ski.

Here's an e-mail from a woman who is just starting out. Gini writes:

". . . I've been getting the BVT for a few months now, and
have noticed feeling better. It's funny and slightly painful all at
once. My husband and daughter usually give me the stings, but with
Pat's help, I found a way to give them to myself sometimes. I wish you
continued success. . . "Gini

Well, I wish Gini much success as well. I love how she refers to the stings as "funny and slightly painful all at once". I know just what she means. Bee Venom Therapy seems to be helping her - and even better than that - it sounds like she's got a great supportive family. How important is that! Good luck, Gini!

Day 1419 - 10:49 am - March 19, 2001 EST

Stung 17x this morning on my back, hips, thighs, calves, knees, feet and hand.

Started and stung 1x below each armpit. Then, 1x on each side of the lower back. Then, 1x on each buttock and 2x
on each thigh and 1x on the outside of each knee. Then, 1x atop of each foot - just above the little toe. And finally, 1x on the side of my right hand, below the pinky finger.

Snow has been pretty consistent this past week and the kids have been out of school more than in. But Spring is coming and more of those "lazy, hazy days of sunshine and pretzels and beer" will be here! Radio predicts temperatures in the 40's today as drops of melting snow frame the window to the right of my computer screen. Beyond the drips, the pine trees shake gently lose its snow laden leaves.

Took a trip with the family this weekend to Syracuse and spent the day shopping and "malling" and once again thanks to Bee Venom Therapy I had the energy and "oomph" to get behind the experience and not only do it but enjoy it.

You know, when dealing with this "dis-ease" everything physical translates into a series of challenges. For example, I knew that I'd need to use a rest room but I didn't know how accessible one might be. So, I crammed a "Depends" into my underpants and "went to town".

Day 1424 - 9:09 am - March 26, 2001 EST

Stung 4x last night on my arms and hands.

Started and stung 1x on each bicep and then 1x on each wrist - palms down.

I've been feeling pretty good this past week and other than some stiffness and cramping in my hands and fingers I've had the energy to do my work. This is good. Snowed again yesterday and although it is Spring I'm still waiting. Well, perhaps that's what Passover and Easter are all about. The end of one and the beginning of the new.

Here's an e-mail from a person looking for some serious help: Shawn writes:

". . .I am a 21 year old male with severe FIBROMYALGIA
and I am bed ridden. Please help I've tried everything.I'm looking for a place where I can receive
these treatments ! Do you know how I can hunt someone down to give me bee
venom ? Thanks for your help. I live in the chicago area and I have
researched venom and how it boosts the immune system. Please help I have no
idea of how to find someone to give me stings.. . . " Shawn

Well, I've written to Shawn and suggested books and things but it appears as though he could really use a helping hand to get started. If you are in the Chicago area and have the where-with-all to help him, man. What a blessing that would be! It's not MS that he's dealing with, it's Life.

Day 1431 - 11:44 am - April 2, 2001 EST

Stung 20x this morning on my thighs, back, shoulders, calves, feet, buttocks, arms and wrists.

Started and stung 2x atop each thigh and 1x on each calf. Then, 1x atop each shoulder, 2x across the top of the back and 3x down each side of the back. .Then, 1x on each upper arm and finally 1x on each wrist, palms down..

As unbelievable as it may sound, the snow is still coming down this morning. Nevertheless, Gavin, my 17 year old son, brought me back a jarful of bees yesterday afternoon. I'll need it. This evening we are all going out to a lecture on American History at one of the universities in Oneonta. It starts at 7:30pm and is being given by a scholar to whom I'd been introduced to recently. I love hitory and this will be something I know that I'll enjoy. With a stinging session under my belt, I should have the energy to make it an evening to remember. Once again, that's what Bee Venom Therapy is all about.

Day 1438 - 10:44 am - April 9, 2001 EST

Stung 9x yesterday on my hands. wrists, knees and thighs.

Gavin, my 17 year old son, had squeezed a bit too much honey into the mayonnaise jar the last time he'd gone down to fetch bees for me. They were soaked with it and were unable to fly and were just dragging along. Death was immenent. I had to transfer these 40 or so remaing bees from this jar into another if they were to live another day. So I took advantage of the experience to.. . . just sting my self. I usually rely on a family member.

Anyway, as they fell out the jar during the relocation process, a few dropped onto my thighs some slipping onto my calves while others stuck to my hands and fingers. So I strategically placed them when I was able while gently urging them to sting by pressing down ever so slightly. I enjoyed myself and it felt good and invigorating.

That evening I led a Seder to celebrate the Passover Holiday with my wife and children and some friends. Had lots of energy right into the evening and nighttime. That's where Bee Venom Therapy really shines - for me. It relieves that heavy fatigue. It may not be a cure but it sure helps. And I know I'm not on a regiment of heavy-duty drugs. Yeah, I take 20mgs of Baclofen and 10mgs of Ritalin when there's a need. But the "ABC" drugs scare me.

Here's an e-mail from a very enthusiastic lady ready to go. Marcia writes:

". . . I have researched venom therapy and I'm very excited. I'm 42 and been dealing w/ MS for 8 years. I live in Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino California and I'm looking. . . to do the treatment at home. I'm also interested in getting some group support. I'm a hispanic woman from South America and . . . in spanish if possible,PLEAAAASE !!!!!! as a crying for help I would appreciate it. Thanks a million," Marcia

Are there folks out there who are dealing with this "dis-ease" and speak Spanish? I would think so. . Marcia sounds like a very supportive person with lots of good positive energy. Enthusiasm is considered by some to be at the pinnacle of life's tone scale.

Women often experience fabulous results with this therapy. Good luck, Marcia!

Day 1447 - 6:46 pm - April 18, 2001 EST

Stung on Sunday as well as this morning. Katrina, my 15 year old, was only able to bring back 7 bees on Sunday and Gavin, my 17 year old, brought back another 8 yesterday afternoon. With 11 hives out back I know they were just not trying hard enough. And I understand. It's Spring vacation and there's more going on in life than, "Pop's bees!" But they love me and always bring home something.

So, on Sunday I stung 7x. Started and stung 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x on the outside of each thigh and 1x on the outside of each calve and finally 1x just below my belly button.

And this morning I stung 8x - on my waist, buttocks and thighs. Started and stung 1x on each buttock again - that always feels good. Then, 1x on each thigh and then 2x on each side of the waist. And I tell you, I certainly felt good today. The more often that I sting the better my body feels.

Also, this morning I had my 6 month doctor's visit with Dr. Karen who has taken over for Dr. Jim. And, after the routine little tests, thank God, I'm coming along - keeping myself in as good condition as I can - which is good - and I am grateful. But as you well know there is so much they can't see and Multiple Sclerosis is such a subjective "dis-ease". But she is supportive of Bee Venom Therapy and advises that I keep on doing what I do. Bee Venom Therapy is not a cure but as far as she can tell it is doing as good a job - for my condition - as would the ABC drugs. So I'll keep stinging and do what I can to keep this body of mine "going" and ready for complete healing. There is a lot of medical study being done on Stem Cell Research which could be a miracle for all of us. Here are some reports on the subject - worth reading.
Placentas Said To Offer Stem Cells
Stem Cell Research Racing Ahead

It'll be a while but as far as I'm concerned it'll never be too late or soon enough!

Here's an e-mail from a woman who is looking for support: Suzanne writes:

". . . I have been on BVT about 1 1/2 years with some improvement but would
love to share notes with someone.
If you would like to talk my number is 615-331-5647.. . . "
Suzanne

I don't have an e-mail for Suzanne but if you are so inclined, it might be worth the phone call. She sounds like a committed stinger, ready to share. Remember, until there is a real cure we must all make the most of whatever there is. And "support" is a key.

Day 1454 - 1:22 pm - April 25, 2001 EST

Stung 5x yesterday on my thighs and hips.

Wanted to sting more but ran out of bees. Well, more may be better but just keeping that flow of venom moving through my system is the key. Colleen, my physical therapist, came by yesterday and I recieved a wonderful body and leg massage. That in itself woke up my body and I took good advantage of it!

Weather is finally getting "Spring like" but not warm enough to swim in the pond yet. But soon!

Here's a wonderful e-mail from a beekeeper. Reyah writes:

"HELLO BARRY.......GREAT READING THE LOG YOU KEEP REGARDING HONEY BEE VENOM THERAPY.
I AM A BEEKEEPER IN VENTURA CA, AND IF YOU EVER GET REQUESTS FROM PEOPLE IN THIS AREA
NEEDING HELP, PLEASE SEND THEM MY WAY. TAKE CARE NOW.....AND BEE HEALTHY! SINCERELY,
MS. REYAH CARLSON
REYAH'S BEES-NESS
VENTURA, CA.

--- REYAH CARLSON
reyah1958@earthlink.net

Wow! What a swell letter. Well, I have always maintained that beekeepers are a great bunch and very special. Thanks a million Reyah. And you folks in California - here's a great opportunity. If you've been sitting on the fence debating the practicality of this therapy, Reyah is making it easier.

Day 1460 - 6:49 pm - May 1, 2001 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my thighs, calves, feet, sides and neck.

Started and stung 1x on either side of the neck. Then, 2x along each side of the torso. Then, 1x atop each thigh and 1x on each calf and 1x atop each foot - on the crease. And finally, 1x behind each ankle.

It's been a few weeks since I had a stinging session where I'd stung my neck. And although this is definitely a most "tender" spot to sting, it always proves so worthwhile - giving me lots of good energy.

Stinging the neck - along with stings on the feet and legs and back - always loosens up my sleepy limbs making it possible for me to pull up, stand and "schlepp" around the house with a walker or sometimes a walking stick. Whenever I experience this metamorphosis I am reminded so well as to just why I am so committed to this therapy and in just what ways Bee Venom Therapy works - for me. And the effects are always so immediate. It doesn't last forever or even for a very long time but it's a great feeling. It's not a cure but a temporary relief of all that stiffness and fatigue that would otherwise just "snowball" and leave me behind. It's a "mind & body wake up call".

Day 1467 - 11: 07 am - May 8, 2001 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my buttocks, hips, thighs, hands, ankles and feet.

Started and stung 1x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on each buttock and 1x on each hip. Then 1x on each forearm and 2x on each hand - 1x between thumb and index finger and 1x on the outside of the palm above the pinky finger. Then, 1x on the outside of each ankle and finally 1x atop each foot.

Oh, it really felt great this morning! A very invigorating and worthwhile session. My hands had been feeling tight and weak this past week from too much work on the keyboard. So how do I know that Bee Venom Therapy is an effective treatment for me? Well, my fingers flying across the keys is all the proof I need to see - and feel. Also, so much easier to stand and get dressed and undressed and do everything else one does in life. It's not as effortless as it would be if I weren't dealing with this "dis-ease". But it's a lot better than before I stung this morning. Again, it's not a cure but it's a noninvasive treatment that seems to work for me.

Here's an e-mail from a concerned parent. Madhu writes:

". . . Your day to day experience is very interesting. We live in New York City and my son, 25 years old was diagnosed with MS about 2 years back. He is also experiencing spiffiness in his legs and I will be very grateful if you can shed some light on the bee sting therapy and how I can avail it. Thank you very much and wish you the best of health.. ." Madhu.

I guess what I find so intriguing about this letter is, one; it's from a parent who is involved and into supporting their child and not denying the reality of the situation as family members often tend to do. And, two; living in NYC and considering this treatment is just fantastic! When I was a NYC resident I had heard of BVT but couldn't find out much about it nor considered it a reality. Not in the city! But with a How-To guide book by Pat Wagner and a source for bees like Ferris, it is indeed a realistic alternate therapy for anyone. Incredible!

Well. I have to admit that I don't know if "Madhu" is male or female (my ignorance) but I wish the family all the best. I don't know if there are many other city dwellers who are involved with Bee Venom Therapy, but if you're out there I would suppose Madhu could really benefit from your experience. Support is the key to the success of this therapy.

Day 1476 - 10:13am - May 16, 2001 EST

Stung 10x this morning on my shoulders, buttocks, thighs and calves and feet.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 1x on each buttock and 1x on each thigh. Then, 1x on each hand between thumb and index finger and finally, 1x atop each tofoot just above the large toe.

Got up this morning and was feeling tight - in my hands and fingers - and stiffness throughout my body and realized I hadn't stung since last week. I knew that a few stings would loosen me right up. And per usual, it did the trick. It just never ceases to amaze me how a few bee stings always makes such a huge difference in how my body performs. How it feels and moves and how it reacts to the bee venom so immediately. No, it's not a cure and it doesn't last long enough - but it always does something positive and I can always feel it.

Also, much to my surprise - and dismay - 10 of the 11 hives out back did not survive the winter. I know that John McCoy, the beekeeper, has been around but I have not seen him nor have I had an opportunity to speak with him. I sure hope he puts new ones out there. John has 100's of hives that he keeps in many different locations and I am very fortunate that he keeps some on my property and allows me the use of the bees.

Now, here's an e-mail from Carla. She writes:

". . . my name is Carla I've had m.s. for 2.5 years started slow now I'm barely
walking I'm on avonex but would like info on the bee venom I live in Port
Orchard, Wash and not to sure on how to find it. If you know please let me know
thanks..."
Carla

Well, sounds to me like Carla might do well if she could at least get to try Bee Venom Therapy. I know Avonex works for some but it's always worth trying other things if it is not doing it for you. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Bee Venom Therapy does seem to work better on women than on men. So, if there are folks out there who either live nearby in Washington or just might be experiencing similar reactions to this "dis-ease" as Carla, perhaps drop her an e-mail. Let her know that she is not alone and that sometimes alternative therapies can work miracles.

Day 1484 - 11:44am - May 24, 2001 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my sides, hips, buttocks, knees, calves and feet.

Started and stung 2x on each side and 1x on each hip. Then, 1x on each buttock and 1x atop each thigh Then, 1x on each calf and 1x
atop each foot - just above the large toe.
.

The weather here has gotten warmer but not warm enough for me to jump into the pond - yet. It has been raining and the humidity always drains my energy. I was feeling pretty draggy most of the day yesterday and knew that a sting session was definitely in order. And, after stinging this morning I can only say. . . I feel much, much better. Energetic. Awake. Loose. Flexible. And with the Memorial Day weekend upon us - friends, picnics, parties etc. I'm feeling ready. Even looking forward to it.

Now, here's an e-mail from a man who loves his wife. Jeff writes:
". . . I was reading your journal, my wife has been diagnose with MS for 11 years we
started stinging with honey bees we got thru the mail and it help her to have
more energy and less pain, started to see another neurologist and he didn't
care for this witch doctor practice so he convinced her to start taking
interferon beta-1a "avonex " since she started this treatment she has more
pain more weakness we are considering taking the bee stings again I hope and
pray they find a cure soon but we us what the good Lord gives us Thanks. . ."
Jeff

Well, what can you say. It is very difficult to disregard the "medical" establishment. We've been taught in programmed to listen what the doctor says. But each of us must make the decision for ourselves. Perhaps there are others that have been on the "ABC" drugs before or after experimenting with Bee Venom Therapy. A little correspondence with Jeff and his wife might do a lot to help them see things more clearly.

Day 1492 - 2:01pm - June 2, 2001 EST

Stung 14x yesterday morning on my thighs, buttocks, feet and hands.

Started and stung 2x on each thigh and 2x on each side Then, 1x on each buttock and 1x on each foot - just
above the large toe. Finally, 1x on each hand - between thumb and index finger.

It has been rainy and in the 60's all week so I still haven't been in the pond. But soon. Been spending a lot of time on the computer and working. The energy is there. And although I do tend to stiffen up as the week goes on - a Bee Venom Therapy session always brings me back. There is no doubt that the more often that I stng and keep a "healthy" amount of the bee venom running through this body of mine, perform better. And I feel stronger just afterwards. And this is why I sting. Because I "know" that after I'm done, I am better off than before I stung.

We all do what we think is best because there aren't any definitive answers - there is no cure for Multiple Sclerosis. We can only do what we can with what there is.

Day 1501 - 3:11pm - June11, 2001 EST

Stung 12x yesterday morning on my back, hips, thighs, calves, and feet.

Started and stung 1x below each armpit. Then, 1x on each side of the lower back. Then, 1x on each buttock and 2x
on each thigh. Then, 1x on the crease of each foot.

So, I continue to sting and although it is indeed not an easy therapy to keep up with, after every session I am always reminded why I stick with it. Because I feel better - more energy, looser, stronger and alert. But,I've got to keep stinging. Yesterday, my daughter Katrina been home from school was sweet enough to help me out. I am blessed.

Now, here's an e-mail from my cyber buddy Wally sharing an experience he had after taking an Avonex shot. It is "real life" up close and personal. Wally and I write to one another on a fairly regular basis and it is with his permission that I share up writes:

". . . Want to hear about my latest catastrophe? Probably not, but what the
hell... who better would understand? It was last weekend; my father had
his 75th birthday, and Mom made her famous kick-ass curry. I love it,
but it had its way with my innards... Then at noon I did my interferon
shot, and by 6:00 and was
slain. I just laid on the couch and watched TV until midnight. Then
when I couldn't even sit up, I phoned a friend. Michael is 6 ft. tall
and 250 pounds, and all he did was drop me on the floor. I finally had
to call the paramedics. Curiously, other than the bump of the head from
when Michael dropped me, I was completely numb and weak... and mildly
drunk from the shot. . . I should have remembered not to take the shot. . .
it was really my responsibility.
The reason being I knew that the Avonex (the interferon) would make me weak and
fluish for about six hours. It does every time. And because I was so sick from the
Curry the night before, I should have remembered not to take the shot....
Not so curiously, the next morning I was back to normal... well MY normal :-).
You do realize that the Avonex doesn't give an immediate effect.
And about the bee venom: of course I still think it's beneficial,
if for no other reason, that the juice triggers the human
body's natural response--to fight that curs-ed toxic indicator. . . "
Wally

Wally is such a great writer and such a special guy! He really tells it like it is. Wally lives this multiple sclerosis experience, and has been living it, for many, many years. And he is someone that I admire greatly - because he epitomizes "keeping on, keeping on".
Now Wally does do BVT off and on and has been on Avonex for about 2.5 years. He feels that the Avonex has kept his condition somewhat stable. But here's we see things differently. I feel that because the Bee Venom has an immediate positive effect on me, it has to be "good" 12 least not doing any harm to anything else in my system. Wally feels that the negative reaction his body has after injecting the Avonex is caused by the immuno-suppresant drug fighting the parasites in his body responsible for attacking his from sheath and giving him MS. Who is right? There is no right or wrong. We are all doing what we can with what ever there is.

You'll be hearing more about Wally over the next several weeks. His new book "We The People Too" will be coming out this month. In it, he's devoted an entire chapter to MS and Bee Venom Therapy. He's a terrific guy and I'll be letting you know just how to get hold of his book. It's a winner and with the help of God a best seller!

Day 1508 - 11:08pm - June18, 2001 EST

Stung 6x last night on my hips and thighs.

Had a few bees remaining in my bee-jar and Katrina, my 15 year old, stung me. The days have been really nice and sunny and I'll be sending Gavin, my 17 year old, down to my one hive for some more. Ten of John McCoy's bee hives did not make it through the Winter and I am expecting that he will be replacing them in the Fall. I've grown quite accustomed to hearing the drone of eleven hives buzzing atop flowers and around the pond. This summer, it's missing. What a difference ten bee hives make!

Did some swimming in the pond this weekend and it was great to move around in the water again. My legs and back of my thighs felt much stiffer than I had remembered Perhaps I will sting that area - back of my thighs - next stinging session.

Now, here's an e-mail from a very upbeat gal/ Casey writes:

".. . I have the most wonderful news.
I got ahold of Pat [Wagner] last night and I am getting her
book. well today I was stung by two bees in my lower
back and I feel like a million bucks. I have energy
out the rear end now. I am not having any eyesight
problems now and . . . I do think this is really going to help me.
. . . It is so ironic how life works. If this makes
me a whole lot better, then I am going to tell
everybody in my town that I recommend it. See
everybody around here knows I have m.s. For goodness
sakes I work in a grocery store and I am one
of those
people that everybody knows. . . "
Casey

Wow! What enthusiasm! That's healing energy in itself. Bee Venom Therapy could really be a perfect treatment for Casey. BVT works better for newly diagnosed females - which is just where Casey finds herself. She's certainly someone to admire. Here is a woman taking her life into her own hands and will employ this therapy only if it works. She'll be making up her own mind. The proof will be in the stinging.

She has only just started and what a wonderful response. I would say she is certainly someone to e-mail and compare notes with - if you've been sitting on the fence about getting into this or not. If nothing else, she sounds like a really nice person! Good luck, Casey!

Day 1515 - 1:58pm - June 21, 2001 EST

Stung 12x this mornig on my sides, buttocks, thighs and calves.

Started and stung 3x on each thigh - 2x on top and 1x on the back of each thigh. I'll have to be laying down to really be able to sting on the area that I actually sit on. But today we sung out on the back porch. Maybe next time. Then, we stung 1x on each buttock, 1x atop each foot - above the large to - and 1x on each calf.

It's been raining all weekend so I haven't had an opportunity to get back into the pond - yet. We went to the store and bought 15 feet of plastic to roll out in the pond between the handrails. In this way I am less likely to scratch my toes on the gravel and stones and sand as I "schlepp" my way in and out. We'll se how it works.

To use my four-wheel or yesterday afternoon to visit my friends Roy and Elizabeth down the road. They'd invited to friends to their house for a passive dish supper and a lecture by a young lady who has just finished her thesis on some esoteric subject - medieval mysticism. I can't say I understood much for dinner was great! It was nice to see folks I hadn't seen all winter.

Here's an e-mail from a lady I met at the grocery store last week. She has a great price 0n a used powerchair and I felt impelled to pass it along.

". .. This is Jan. I saw you in Hannaford's the other day. If you click on this link:
http://www.pridemobility.com/Products/JAZZY/1115/1115.asp it will give you all of the information on
the chair. Freddie's chair has the deluxe high back with a headrest.
Please feel free to give our email address to anyone who might want the chair. The asking price is
$400. . ."
Freddie & Jan

Many people have no need for anything like this. But this "dis-ease" effects us all differently and "making the most of what there is", means living life to the fullest. Often there are folks that are "stuck" because they are unable to afford something like this. It's a super deal and I know that Jan really wants to see someone make some good use of what she's got sitting in her closet. So if you live in and around upstate New York you might want to e-mail.

Day 1520 - 11:08am - June 30, 2001 EST

Stung 6x yesterday afternoon on my, feet and ankles.

Started and stung 2x atop each foot and 1x on the inside of each ankle.

The weather here has been very very hot and humid so that I have been trying to get into the pond and cool off as often as I can. And of course, swimming is always great exercise. Nothing else, I get to stretch my legs and do a little kicking. stiffness is always the one thing to overcome but the cool water certainly helps.

My son Gavin, 17, will be going off to Binghamton this summer to take some courses at the University. but he will be home on weekends. I guess the kids are getting older. Life goes on.

Day 1526 - 8:33am - July 6, 2001 EST

Stung 18x yesterday morning on my sides, hips, buttocks, legs and feet.

Started and stung 1x along each side and 1x on each hip. Then, 1x on each buttock and 2x on the top-front of each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each knee and 1x on each calve. Then 1x on the crease of each foot and 1x atop each foot above the large toe.

Once again a good stinging and session left me feeling a lot more energetic and loose than before. Katrina, my 15-year-old daughter, had gone down to the beehive and brought up a jarful of bees. The weather here has been a hot and humid one day and rainy the next. Have not as of yet gotten into a routine of swimming in the pond. But whenever I do get to go in it is always an experience.

My cyber friend Wally, has just had his latest book, "We're The People, Too" published and released. Wow! What a supreme accomplishment. Wally has been working on this for a few years and is presently at work on a follow-up.Wally writes:

". . . hope you dig the book...i do ;-)... the best and cheapest way to buy a book is via [this on-line link to my publishers web site where they've set up a page of reviews and easy ordering]
We're the People, Too: Tales from America's Largest Minority by Walt Dudley Itrich...they give free postage ... Amazon and B&N won't when they get it later this summer.
yer pal.. "
Wally

In "We're The People, Too" Wally has gotten into the minds and motivations of the human experience at its finest and most real. Wally uncovers not only the meaning of "living life to its fullest" but reveals life's true purpose for all of us by peering into the souls of those who - at a glance - would appear to have none whatsoever. The individuals interviewed in this book have some of the most difficult mental and physical challenges to overcome and yet, each one does it with grace and determination rarely seen. It's what heros and fairy tales are made of. But these are no bedtime stories. This book inspires, motivates and challenges us to make the "most of what we've got". This book breathes Life!

And yes, you might pay particular interest to Chapter 5. This is where Wally interviews me and what a masterful job he does at uncovering just what makes me tick - from a music-video producer with MS - to a committed Bee Venom believer. He's left no stone unturned. Wally has been dealing with this "dis-ease" himself for many years and there's much we can all learn from his courage.

Day 1532 - 4:32pm - July 12, 2001 EST

Stung 6x this morning on my thight and side and hands..

Started and stung 1x on either thigh. Then, 2x on each hand - 1x below the pinky finger, 1x between thumds & index finger.

Katrina, my 15-year-old, had a friend over yesterday. I asked Katrina to sting with me. Her friend, Nissa, was interested and curious and asked to observei. As Katrina began stinging me I could see Nissa, a particularly sensitive young lady, cringing. "Doesn't that hurt?!" She asked. She was really having a hard time watching. After the second sting I had Katrina pause momentarily and said.
"Have you ever sat on your legs and had them fall asleep on you? And then, when you stood up, your legs felt like pins and needles? Well," I explained, "it's the same with my body and how it is reacting to the bee stings. Everything is kind of numb and asleep but after getting stung I awake and come to life. So you see, just as with you and your legs - the pins & needles sensation is a welcome feeling because you know in a few minutes your legs are going to feel better, better than before." I was happy to see that this explanation really made a difference to her understanding of what was going down. Actually, it made a lot of sense to me too!

Have been in the pond a few more times. It's nice to be in the water and even nicer after I get out. Because I'm feeling much cooler and much more energetic - every time. I do notice however that I need to work myself up a bit more to swimming as many laps that I had been able to swim last year. Part has to do with not exercising as much over the winter. And part, I'm sure, has to do with this "dis- ease". But it's nothing to cry about. I'm still getting in and out of the pond and I'm still swimming. There are no guarantees. No, it's not a cure. But I do believe that Bee Venom Therapy continues to keep me in the "game".

Day 1539 - 9:02pm - July 19, 2001 EST

Stung 20x yesterday afternoon on my entire body.

Started and stung 3x on either side of the back - approx. 2" from spine. Then, 1x on each side of the lower back -
approx. 6" from spine. Then, 1x on either side of the neck, just below the skull cap. Then, 1x on each side of the chest and 1x on the front of each thigh and 1x atop each foot - just above the large toe. Then, 1x on the inside of each forearm and finally 1x on each hand - just below the pinky finger.

We had a dinner party last night with our classical reading group. once every six weeks or so we get-together toeat and discuss a piece of literature that we read. It went on until about 11:30 PM and I knew that I would need some extra energy. So Katrina, my 15-year-old, was kind enough to do a sting session with me before our guests arrived. We stung outside and that worked out quite nicely. As the bees stung we released them and let them fly away. And the wild ones - we just let them go. Anyway, it was quite invigorating and per usual did the job for me.

People ask me, why I sting. The answer is a simple one. Hopefully it keeps this "dis-ease" under control and the exacerbations at a minimum while at the same time giving me the energy to do things that make living worthwhile, fun and experiential. Bee venom therapy is my life's experiment.

Here's an e-mail from a person in California:

hi i was wondering if you know of anyone in California, los angeles area that
could help me in getting started with this bee venum to see if it would be of
any benefit to myself. i suffer from multiple sclerosis and would appreciate
any info you can give me if any. thank youMSTR103@aol.com

if you're in that area, or just so inclined to lending your support, you might get in touch.

And another from Fernando in Florida:

I am looking for somebody to help my wife ,in gainsville fla,I saw a tv
program animal planet and saw bee venon therapy and my wife is very ready to
do it!!please what to do !!!
Fernando

I've written and given them as much information as I could regarding Bee venom therapy. But I know that support from others can really tip the scales. Desperate times call for desperate measures and I know that these folks are hurting. It is a time when communication from others who have experienced or are going through the experience personally - can make all the difference in the world. What goes around, comes around.

Day 1544 - 10:48pm - July 24, 2001 EST

Stung 6x yesterday morning on the back of my thighs.

I've been wanting to sting the back of my thighs for some time now and yesterday morning I stayed in bed until about 8:30 AM. when Carol got back from her early morning three-mile walk.
I rolled onto my stomach and had her sting me - 3x on the back of each thigh.  I have to say, it really makes a difference. Both of my legs, from the toes to the buttocks, were much, much looser - not as tight, not as jumpy, easier to keep separated from one another.

I've been swimming in the pond and doing more laps. Although when it is very hot and humid like today - 98 degrees - I just as soon stay indoors.

You know, the summertime is a particularly good time to begin experimenting with Bee venom therapy. it's warm -  and a time of year  when the bees are most active and prolific. Some say that this is the time when the venom is most potent. So I want to post these e-mails from folks around the country that could use some support.

Here's an e-mail from Maggie who writes;

Does anyone know of any Beeekeeper out in the Oxnard California area who can
help got me started-or a Doctor out here? I have had M.S for the past 22 years
and am gettinng real tired of it.
thank you
Maggie McDermott
Oxnard Ca.

And here's another e-mail from Christine. she writes;

I am having such a hard time finding someone in the Chicagoland area who can help me. There just don't seem to be an apitherapists around here. My husband was diagnosed with MS 1 year ago yesterday, on our anniversary, he's 31 years old. I've got Pat Wagner's book, my problem is I don't think I'm up to the challenge of stinging him yet, I need someone to show me how, but who? This seems to be such a hard thing to get information on. Help.
Christine Hannon
Plainfield, IL

Maybe there are folks out there that can help? Sometimes just an e-mail can make all the difference.

Day 1551 - 4:45pm - July 31, 2001 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my sides, thighs and hips.

Started just below my armpits and stung 4x down either side to my waist. Then, stung 1x on atop each thigh.
Then, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock.

The weather has been pretty hot and humid and other than swimming in the pond and hanging out on the porch I opt to stay where it is cool. Stung this morning and it gave me a good boost for my excursion into town to get my haircut. Tomorrow I am planning to go with Carol, my wife, and Katriina, my 15 year old, to Utica to do some shopping. Well, I'll bring my electric scooter of course and plan to stay indoors - in the malls. There is no doubt about it. Heat just drains me dry. Cool and cold has the opposite effect but like everything else with this "dis-ease" I've got to stay conscious and aware all the time. If not, I can find myself fogged and faded in no time. But the Bee Venom keeps my overall energy and condition up - even through these dog-days of summer.

Here's an e-mail from a person who is really looking. Barbara writes:

"Hi Barry---I was reading a book "reversing MS" by Celeste Pepe. I have MS
for 26 yrs now and am still searching for answers. I came upon a chapter
about BVT and became intrigued. I will try anything and basically have. Can
You please tell me more about how the BVT has helped you? My next step is to
see if this therapy is offered here in Covington, LA. Thanks "
Barbara

I am familiar with this book and recommend it. And after 26 years Barbara is pretty smart to at least give Bee Venom a try. It is supposed to work better on women, so the odds for her success in getting some relief are already tipped in her favor. So if you're close by or just so inclined to be supportive, perhaps send Barbara an e-mail. She souds like a pretty smart lady.

Day 1558 - 11:35am - August 7, 2001 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my thighs, knees, calves, feet and ankles .

Started and stung 2x on the sides of each thigh and 1x behind each thigh. Then, 2x on the side of each kneecap. Then, 1x on each calf and 1x atop each foot and finally 1x behind each ankle.

Yesterday, was another hot-one. Went swimming in the pond early in the morning and then spent most of the day indoors on the computer. Swimming in the pond cools me off and most of all it gives me the opportunity to move and stretch and exercise and for this I am grateful.

Katrina, my 15-year-old daughter, was nice enough to sting me last night before I went to bed. I don't sting often at night but I do believe that it's good to always change things around - stinging in different areas and I suppose at different times as well. Anyway, I slept well although I did wake-up feeling a little tight but was able to stretch it out easy enough.

here's a letter from David in Arkansas who is looking for some support. In David writes:

". . . My name is David DuBurk and I live in Hope, Arkansas. I was first told I
may have MS in 1989 when I had optic neuritis. I was officially diagnosed
with MS in April 1995 and went from crutches to a wheelchair where I have
been since December 1999. I am married and am 46 years old.

I have been involved with computers since 1983, but it wasn't until 1998
when I started my own computer business.,at the insistence of my wife
Sharon. The computer had been my dream for years, funny how it takes a
disabling disease to get you to take action. I moved it out of my house and
into a commercial building next door the 1st of DEC. last year. Now, about
6 weeks ago I went in the hospital for over a week with blood clots
and an infection in both legs. I am home recovering from that now and
having PT nearly every day. My business is behind and my recovery is too
slow. To top it all off, I have been pretty much home bound since DEC '99
when I was unable to transfer to the car and we don't have a van.

All of that being said, I have developed an interest in bee venom therapy
and was reading your web page and decided to write you today. Do you know
of anyone in or near Hope, Arkansas that I could contact that could help us
get started. I want to walk again or at least be back on crutches, I am
willing to try almost anything so I can get back to work, I have been so
anxious to be up and going again. Any help you can give me would be
appreciated more than you could ever imagine. . ."
David - Hope, Arkansas

Well, David seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He seems to be rolling with punches and now he's ready to give bee venom therapy a try. And why not? Nothing ventured nothing gained. The odd thing about this treatment is that it works better for some than for others. so if you're in Arkansas or close by and want to share some of your experiences with David, it could be worthwhile. For all.

Day 1566 - 12:09pm - August 15, 2001 EST

Stung 13x this morning on my sides, thighs, buttocks, calves and hand.

Started and stung 3x down either side. Then, 1x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on the buttock and 1x on my right hand, between thumb forefinger. It's still hot here although it has become far more bearable with temps in the mid 80's.

Gavin, my 17-year-old, and Katrina, my 15-year-old, are finishing up summer school this week. Gavin will be having a big computer LAN party this weekend (a two-day event) and Katrina will be headed off to Miami to visit with her cousins for a week or two.
Stinging is always good and especially in this hot weather. It helps a lot with the fatigue. Most important however is to just keep stinging. Just keep the venom pumping through the system.

Here is an e-mail from a person who knows what she's talking about. Jorge writes.

". . . Hi Barry, it's me Jorge from CA. I can appreciate your BVT Journal because it
keeps helping many.
Actually, I am touching base with you because recently I heard a doctor say,
that there no evidence to support BVT usefulness in MS.
This irritates me because although western medical science has not documented
BVT's efficacy, BVT deserves to be considered a viable option in helping
manage some of the MS symptoms.
My personnel experience is that systemically, it gives me energy and helps
relieve disabling fatigue. Locally, it relieves muscle spasms and related
pain and it also helps relieve heat intolerance with no major side effects
other than occasional local redness and irritation due to the bee sting.
All though in my case, MS continues to progress, these three factors have
allowed me to keep active, exercising, free of pain and made it possible to
continue enjoying life with my family.
I believe you, like me who have been dealing with MS for years can appreciate
the value of BVT due to the noticeable difference, it has made in our lives.

Your fellow BVTer, friend from CA
Jorge, RN who has been stinging since 1995 . . ."

Jorge says it all so clearly and so well. I agree with her 100 percent. This letterwas like a breath of fresh air - motivation and support
for me. Bee Venom Therapy may not be a cure - but until one comes alomg - it's the next best thing!

Day 1578 - 11:44am - August 27, 2001 EST

Srung 14x yesterday on my feet, ankles, calves, knees and neck.

Started and stung 2x atop each foot and 1x behind each ankle. Then, 1x on each calf and 2x on the sides of each knee. Finally, 1x on the rhe sides of the neck. That always hits the spot and wakes up the entire system.

We had lots of family and friends visiting this past week. Katrina is vacationing in Miami with her cousins so Gavin, my 17-year-old, had gone down to the hive and brought back a good bunch of bees. And with Carol, my devoted and beautiful wife up to her ears in entertaining, Gavin stung me as well.

My close friends Bob and Nita and their little girl Sofie were with us this past weekend. I love spending time with Bob - one of my dearest friends. He is so intelligent and motivational. We went to a fabulous play at the Franklin Mountain Theatre and attended several art gatherings. Overall it went pretty well although I found myself being super careful about overdoing, overtiring and overheating myself on these summer days and evenings. But it was fun and this Labor Day weekend promises ever more social interaction and activity. There's no doubts that the bee stings, Bee Venom Therapy, plays a big part in keeping my energy level up and fatigue factor down.

I also want folks to know that over the past week or so we have been going through some major changes on our Internet servers - transferring domains and the like. Unfortunately, this has resulted in certain "screw-ups" with many e-mails that I have both written and should have received, being "lost" somewhere in cyberspace. Therefore, if you sent me e-mail to which I have not responded or that you might have tried to send me and was unable, my apologies - and please, give it another try.

Day 1587 - 10:33am - Sept. 5, 2001 EST

Stung 6x yesterday morning on my hips and buttocks and waist.

School has started and the kids are back to their routine - which means I and Carol are as well. My Journal site has been off line for at least a week already and I am hoping it will be up and running properly in the next few days. But I have been stinging and this has certainly made the last few weeks of the summer heat bearable and less fatiguing.

The Labor Day weekend was filled with folks and partying and I'm looking forward to the colol Fall months ahead.

Day 1594 - 11:23am - Sept. 12, 2001 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my neck, shoulders, sides, back and buttocks.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 4x down either side. Then, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock and
finally 1x on each side of the neck.

John McCoy, the beekeeper from Franklin Mountain who has been kind enough to keep 11 beehives on my property, was here on Sunday to take whatever honey there was in the remaining hive. Last winter, 10 of the 11 beehives did not make it. Fortunately, the remaining beehive is a strong one.
I could tell that John was not sure about putting new beehives in because he doesn't really know what
happened. He did say that the time to put new beehives in is the third week of April. So I will call him in the
beginning of April and hopefully he will be inclined to put new beehives on my property. The way it works is, the honey is all his as is the responsibility of caring for the hives in exchange for allowing me to use the bees. For some years now this has been a perfect arrangement.
But, whatever is and whatever will be, will be for the best. This is always the truth. But one thing is for sure. I will do what I have to do to keep on stinging.
Over the past few weeks my Gilbertsville servers on which I post my knee venom therapy journal has been down. That means if you been trying to access the site you have been unsuccessful. This had also interrupted the receiving and sending of the e-mail addressed to me at my gilbertsville.com address. So once again, if you have been trying to contact me over the past few weeks and have received no response, please try again.
Finally, my prayers and condolences go out to the hundreds and thousands of people that have been injured and whoss family members have lost their lives in the tragic terrorist activities that occurred yesterday.

Day 1601 10:11pm - Sept. 19, 2001 EST

Stung 14x this morning down the sides of my torso, my thighs, feet, arms and elbows.

Started and stung 2x on each side below my armpits. Then, 2x atop each thigh and 1x atop eacc foot - above the large toe. Then, 1x on each bicep and finally 1x on the outside of each elbow.

Well, seems like the hot days of summer are over and beautiful cool fall weather will be taking its place. In the past, August has always been a season for exacerbations. So far so good - and I am grateful.

This past Sunday Gavin, my 17-year-old son, and I, took our cameras - a 35mm Pentax with black and white film, a digital still camera and my new digital video camera - and spent the afternoon shooting around town and in the country. Gilbertsville has polo fields and has recently reinstituted having actual competition. I'd been meaning to post some photos on my gilbertsville.com Web site and Gavin has been after me to shoot some black and white with him. So we loaded my electric scooter into the back of the van and made a day of it. And I will say again that bee venom therapy, is what keeps me energized and motivated to do and be involved. To keep on keeping on.

Finally, I just want to make mention of my dear cyber friend Judy Alvarez who had passed away a year ago September 15th. She was a very special person who lived and did battle with multiple sclerosis with so much class. Her enthusiasm was contagious and her love of life and people was uncommon. She believed in bee venom therapy not as a cure but as a means to control the many symptoms. I think of her often and miss her much.

Here is an e-mail from another cyber-friend, Jorge, who writes:

" . . I do not remember how Judy and I became cyberspace friends but she did become a dear friend.
It seems like only yesterday. Her name was Judy and she lived in
Colorado. She was experiencing the benefits of bee venom therapy and was excited about
sharing it and how it was making her life better. BVT was relieving some of her MS
symptoms and allowing her to enjoy life more. She wanted the world
to know about it. Her husband, Andy, BVT stinger partner, was so
supportive of Judy and this therapy.
Judy once sent me a picture. In the graphic picture was a young lady
with a long blue dress and matching hat by a bee hive. The bees were buzzing
around as the lady appeared to be thinking about Gods blessings in the form
of BVT.
I will always remember her and be grateful for
Judy. Her E-mails were always full of sincerity, hope and encouragement. I
never met her in person but will always regard her as a person rich in
spirit. I am sure that she is missed and remembered by many. I believe that
as earth was made a better place with her presence so is Heaven. . . "
Jorge,U2

Jorge is another beautiful person who has been benefiting from bee venom therapy for almost 18 years now. I asked her to write something about Judy and I thank her for expressing her sentiments so beautifully.
