Day 991 - 10:11 am - Jan. 18, 2000 EST

Stung 5x last night on my sides and lower back. 2x on either side and 1x just above the tailbone.

Once again, Katrina, my 13 year old, had brought the bees up from the cellar and was only able to coax a handful out of the box. They're doing well in there not wanting to leave. Oh well, as long as I keep somewhat of a steady stream of venom going into my system on some kind of steady basis, I'm in pretty good shape. And besides, regardless as to how much I sting it's always invigorating. I suppose after all this time I'm beginning to understand what stinginging on an "as needed" basis means. As needed and as is possible.

The weather continues to be frigid so I am real happy to be able to sting with what I've got. Like I always say - make do with what there is.

Day 997 - 9:18 am - Jan. 24, 2000 EST

Stung 16x last night on my hips, thighs, knees, ankles and feet and hands.

Started and stung 1x on each hip. Then, 2x on the outside of each thigh and 1x on each side of each knee. Then, 1x on the inside of each ankle and finally 1x on each hand - between thumb and index finger.

Gavin went down to the hives yesterday and brought back a good amount of fresh bees. The ones remaining in the box had all expired and besides, I couldn't seem to coax them out anyway.

This session last night was really fine. It's been about 10 days since I'd stung all of the lower part of my body and it was really missing it. After the session I felt energized - got up and moved around without feeling like my feet were stuck to the floor like magnets, too stiff to push forward. Not only that, but my eyesight was super clear. I don't even realize how foggy or blurry my vision gets sometimes especially at night. And this morning I'm feeling much the same.

Finally, here's a link to Dianne's new web page that she's put together on and about Bee Venom Therapy. It's called Multiple Schlerosis Alternative Remedies and I really like it a lot! It's simple, clear and very refreshing. When reading about Dianne's success after seven years of Bee Venom Therapy one is very much inspired to "keep on keeping on". Thanks Dianne! Check it out.

Day 1001 - 9:38 am - Jan. 28, 2000 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my thighs, knees, calves, ankles, buttocks, hands and wrists.

Started and stung 2x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each knee and 1x on each calf. Then, 1x on each buttock and 1x on each wrist, palms down and 1x on each hand - between thumb and index finger.

The bees in the Bee Box are doing very well and for the first time it was easy to coax them out. Great.

Have been feeling pretty good although have not been able to leave the house much. A lot of snow here and very cold. Doing what exercises I can but not nearly enough. Must work on this.

So, I've reached my own personal millennium. 1000 days of Bee Venom Therapy. It's been serving me well.

Day 1007 - 9:55 am - Feb. 3, 2000 EST

Stung 20x this morning on my sides, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, feet, stomach and chest.

Started and stung 2x down each side of my back. Then, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock. Then, 2x on the front of each thigh and 1x on each calf and 1x atop each foot above the large toe. And finally, 1x above the belly button and 1x on each side of the chest below the armpit.

Ah yes, it was a very good session and felt very good. Awakened that sleepy body. Have a hair appointment this morning at my friend Rob's and with the "2-3 feet" of snow out there I know I will need all the energy and fluidity I can muster.

Have been spending a lot of time on the computer designing new sites and pages. After a days work the hands do get tight and "claw-like" sometimes but after a rest things always go back to normal. And I know that the constant stinging and bee venom continues to keep things in a status-quo" condition. Because when I don't sting for several days I can just feel how my body winds down like a draining battery. But when I do get stung . . . it's just terrific! No, Bee Venom Therapy may not be a cure and may not bring things back to the way "we were", but I do feel that it keeps the rest of the system going along as is - of course - with its ups and downs. It may not be perfect, but it's the best I've got.

Day 1012 - 10:10 am - Feb. 8, 2000 EST

Stung 10x this morning on my shoulders, buttocks, thighs and calves and feet.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then, 1x on each buttock and 1x on each thigh. Then, 1x on each calf and finally, 1x atop each foot.

The weather here is certainly frigid and I'd venture to say that there's got to be about 2-3 feet of snow out there. And, that Bee Hotel-Box is working (knock on wood). It's been a couple of weeks now and none have expired. Two reasons for this I believe. The first, Carol, my wife, gave the box an extensive cleaning before we dumped in the last batch of bees. Secondly, we've been keeping the box in the cellar where the temperature is always about 45-50 degrees. In this way the bees are far less active and thus live longer. I think. I hope I haven't spoken too soon.

I've been feeling pretty good over all and always far better on the days that I sting. At night my legs get tight and jerky - but only after not having stung for 2 or 3 days. So ideally I should probably still be stinging every other day. But this "just ain't a perfect world"!

Finally, here's an email from my cyber-friend Judy asking for some support -= for someone else. Judy writes:

" . . .I've been writing to a beautiful 27 year old girl in Romania who looks just
like my daughter, Juli. Her name is Laura Tarau. She was married for 6
years until she was diagnosed with MS three years ago when her husband left
her. She is an only child whose mother used to love her and admire her
openly and has more or less rejected her since the diagnosis. Laura is in a
great deal of emotional pain. She is a linguistics major-graduate and
though English must be a foreign tongue to her ... she writes beautiful
letters. I want you to have her address so that you can write to her in a
spare moment. Introduce yourself and just talk. She doesn't have a
computer and her biggest dream in life was just to be a mother and to have a
child of her own ... and she feels her life is ruined. She learned of me
when she began inquiring about bee venom. Bee venom is the only thing that
helps MS. Thank you. If you can do this ... thank you VERY much.
Love, Judy

There you have it. If you've got the time and a stamp, could be very meaningful.

Day 1016 - 4:23 pm - Feb. 12, 2000 EST

Stung 8x this afternoon on my sides, buttocks and hands.

Started and stung 2x down either side of my back and then 1x on each side of each buttock. Finally, 1x on atop each hand - palms down - above the middle finger.

The bees in the Bee Box are getting lethargic but it has been about 3 weeks so I'm not complaining. Katrtina, my 13 year old, was able to coax them out 2 at a time and it felt good to be stung. Always does, that feeling of the body waking up and coming alive and energetic. . Carol, my wife, has been under the weather for the past few weeks so Katrina has been really super in helping out. Hopefully Carol will be up and back on her feet "real" soon and we'll be able to get back to our regular routine of stinging at least one more session each week. With Carol not being up to stinging me as she always does I have a new appreciation for how important support and a partner can be in this type of therapy - especially once you become accustomed to it. I have always been aware and grateful to my beautiful wife and it's good and humbling to be reminded.

Day 1022 - 10:52 am - Feb. 18, 2000 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my shoulders, thighs, knees , calves ankles, hands and chest.

Started and stung 2x on each thigh. Then, 1x on the outside of each knee and 1x on each calf. Then,1x on the top of each foot - in the crease - and then 1x atop each shoulder and atop each hand - between thumb and index finger and finally 1x on the center of my chest.

Yes! It felt very good getting stung this morning. Carol is still recuperating from her surgery and stinging sessions have become a premium. Snow day today and the kids are off from school so Katrina, my 13 year old, did it with me.She's getting really good at it. Afterwards I got up and "schlepped" around the house with a walker for a while. It felt really good.

And Gavin, my 16 year old, went out yesterday afternoon and fetched a fresh batch of bees. So I continue to use Bee Venom Therapy because when I get stung - something happens. My body wakes up, comes alive.

Now here's a letter from a newly diagnosed woman.

" . . . I was just diagnosed with MS in the end of Nov.of '99. I have been in the hospital because they had given me the
solymedrol treatments that did not help. My hands are numb but otherwise I am doing o.k. I started two weeks ago on
the Avonex weekly injection drug. Do you find the bee therapy really does help? What about diet? I am 38 years old
and I just got married in June. Than God my husband is wonderful. Your the first person I have e-mailed re: this. If you
could help me out I would be greatly thankful. "The Franciones" <jfranci1@rochester.rr.com>

Well, if you've got the inclination, perhaps drop her a note. You never know.
Day 1026 - 11:24 am - Feb. 22, 2000 EST

Stung 14x this morning on my back, hips, thighs, calves, knees and feet.

Started and stung 1x below each armpit. Then, 1x on each side of the lower back. Then, 1x on each buttock and 2x on each thigh and 1x on the outside of each knee. Then, 1x on the crease of each foot.

Once again, stinging really felt great. My daughter, Katrina, 13, did the stinging again with me. She's getting better and better at it. Even coaxing the bees out from the box is getting easier. Carol, my wife, is healing slowly and she too is getting better, Soon enough, she'll be back in the swing of things.

After my stinging session I got up and "schlepped" around the house a bit. Not much, but enough to let me know once gain just how Bee Venom Therapy puts the "oomph" back into my usually tight and stiff body. It just makes such a difference.

Lots of snow outside 2-3 feet worth so getting outside is not that easy. But the back porch is nice on sunny days. Still dreaming about the pond. In time.

My son Gavin, 16, went down to NYC this week to visit with his aunt and cousins. Of course we'll miss him but he'll have a ball and that's great.

Day 1031 - 11:35 am - Feb. 27, 2000 EST

Stung 17x this morning on my thighs, calves, feet, ankles, hips, sides and shoulder.

Started and stung 2x top each thigh. Then, 1x on each calf and 1x on each ankle. Then, 1x atop each foot and 3x down each side of the torso and finally 1x atop my right shoulder.

And again, the session felt really great. My daughter Katrina, she'll be 14 on March 7, did the stinging with me again. And because it was Sunday, she had more time. . . and patience.

Coleen, my physical therapist, was home from graduate school this week and came by this morning for a session with me as well. She helps me to exercise in ways that I find impossible to do on my own. Really miss having her come every week but whenever she does come - it's wonderful!

The bees in the Bee Hotel are still going strong and with all the cold and snowy weather we've been having I have to say that the Hotel has made the entire process a lot simpler.

Finally, my wife Carol is getting better and better, stronger and stronger each day. This is great.

Day 1035 - 9:20 am - March 2, 2000 EST

Stung 8x on my back, sides, buttocks and thighs.

Started and stung 1x on each buttock. The, 1x on each thigh and then 2x on each side of the back.

The bees in the bee Box are still alive - although there aren't all that many left. The box is awfully dirty on the bottom but they seem to be surviving for longer periods of time. Also keeping them in the cellar where it is cool seems to make a major difference.

Oh yes, I have been feeling tight over the past day or so but I know it's because I'm not stretching and exercising enough. Nor am I stinging enough! Seems like I'm settling into twice a week but more often would be better. Well, like I've always maintained, stinging is indeed a tough regiment to follow. And so would swimming every day be great. Meanwhile, I'm doing the best that I am able, knowing that Bee Venom Therapy is the best thing I can be doing for myself.

Now, here's an e-mail from a woman looking to help her dad. Angie writes:

". . . I am the 25 year old daughter of a man who is trying to cope with
living with multiple sclerosis. He has been diagnosed for nine years and has
progressively gotten worse. He is no longer able to work, or for that matter
do much of anything. He is taking the copaxone shot daily and it doesn't
really seem to help him much. He is skeptical about anything especially
this, but I've done some research and am starting to read your journal and
finally feel that there might be something out there for him other than
drugs. We really don't know where to start. I saw Pat on Ripley's and from
there looked up apitherapy on the internet. I called a local bee keeper and
she said she would supply the bee's, and that she had a copy of Pat's book
that we could borrow. Do we need an ok from his doctor? Does he need to go
off of the copaxone shots? If you could give any insight we'd really
appreciate it.. . . " Angie SRice94784@aol.com

Well, I've responded with my own take on the situation but something tells me Angie can use some more support from others who've been down this road. She herself is obviously a very special person - a great support to her dad. And what a blessed man he is!

Day 1039 - 12:17 pm - March 6, 2000 EST

Stung 12x this morning on my hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, foot and hand.

Started and stung 2x on each hip. then, 1x on each buttock and 2x atop each thigh. then, 1x on each calf and 1x on the top of the right foot above the large toe and finally 1x on the right hand - between thumb and index finger.

Still feel as though I'm not stinging often enough because I really feel best just after each session. But, as long as I keep it on-going and sting as often as I am able, this is great.

Still bees remaining in the Bee Hotel although they are getting more lethargic. Hopefully there's still enough in the box for another session.

After the session this morning had the energy to get up and "schlepp" around the house a bit. Less tightness and stiffness. Had I stung more - another 8-10 stings - I'd have been even looser. But it takes a while to coax the bees out of the box and I just didn't have the time - or patience.

Here's an e-mail from a woman who is looking to help her boyfriend. Karen writes:

". . . I'm writing for my boyfriend Dave who has been diagnosed w/MS since
around 1987. In the past two years his mobility is worsening,he has tried
just about everything they have to offer fron soldemedrol to betaseron to
chemo. He never gives up and still we bring him to work everyday (he works a
partime job :) ) Could you EM him with information on where to go to get this
started. We're from Massachusetts, please get back to him as soon as you can
His EM address is SheikRR@AOL.com his name is Dave .Thanks so much for taking
the time to read this, please help us head to the right road. God Bless!
Karen (& DAve tooMzKayHee@aol.com

Well, lucky man that Dave - has a girlfriend who's trying to do "what she can" to support her partner.

Dave lives in Mass., so perhaps there are others nearby who could network with him. Or, just others who want to share their experiences with Karen - a supportive partner - as well as with Dave. Karen has forwarded both of their addresses so; either, or both. What goes around, comes around.

Day 1042 - 10:33apm - March 9, 2000 EST

Stung 4x this morning on my back.

Brought the Bee Hotel up from the cellar and transferred the reaming bees into a jar. But in the end there were only 4 left. I'll have to send Gavin out this afternoon for more. But still, every little sting helps keep the therapy an on-going experience. And this, I believe, is most important.

It has been really nice here for the past few days with record high temperatures. The bees have been out and buzzing about and the sun has been warm. Almost like summer except. . . the pond is still frozen solid and snow expected tonight with highs tomorrow in the mid-thirties.

Day 1046 - 1:05 pm - March 13, 2000 EST

Stung about 30x this morning over my entire body.

Started and stung 1x atop each shoulder. Then 2x down each side, 1x on each bicept, 1x on each forearm and 1x on each hand between thumb and index finger.

Then, Carol went back to the Bee Hotel and was able to coax out another 15 "fresh" bees from the box while I went to the bathroom. Bee Venom is a great laxative. The body seems to want to extract the venom in any way that it can. But at the same time, the venom is waking up my sleepy and tight body. So for me, this a "good" side effect of Bee Venom Therapy. Not too bad.

Then, continued to sting. . . 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock and 1x on each thigh, calf, crease on the foot and 1x just above each toe. And finally, 1x on the center of my chest.

Man, did I feel good! Energized!

Why so many times? I had my 6 month appointment with Dr. Jim this morning - to see how I'm doing. And you know what? From an objective viewpoint - "Pretty darn well."

"You're accomplishing what everyone who is taking anything else is attempting to accomplish," said Dr. Jim. "So keep doing what you're doing."

Made my day.

Day 1050 - 10:55 am - March 17, 2000 EST

Stung this morning 6x down the sides of my back - starting from beneath my armpits to my hips.

Been feeling pretty good although the weather has turned to snow again and I'm still dreaming about the summer. I am really looking forward to exercising and swimming again down in the pond.

I've been getting different letters from people still talking about that Procarin patch. Some asking me whether I would use it or not. Gee, if it works, sure I'd use it! Regardless as to the cost. But I've yet to hear from anyone that is using it and feels that it has undoubtedly improved their condition. I'm open and anxious to hear.

Day 1055 - 9:12 am - March 22, 2000 EST

Stung 16x this morning on my thighs, knees, calves, feet, buttocks and hips.

Started and stung 2x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on the inside of each knee and 1x on each calf and 1x atop each foot - above the large toe. Then, 1x on each buttock and 2x on each hip.

Hadn't stung that much last session so today's stinging session felt good. Overall, have been feeling pretty loose over the past few days anyway.

The bees were easier to coax out from the Bee Hotel this morning. Perhaps because I'd heated up the jar and put some honey at the bottom. Or, perhaps it's just getting warmer - should be in the mid-50's all week. Be nice.

For my birthday my sister Rivka bought for me a new 4-wheeled - Heavy-duty - scooter. I'll really be able to move around my property now - through the woods and down to the creek! Should be here tomorrow. Really looking forward to it

Day 1060 - 9:55 am - March 27, 2000 EST

Stung 8x this morning on my thighs, knees and buttocks.

Started and stung 2x atop each thigh. Then, 1x on the inside of each knee and finally 1x on each buttock.

The stings on my thighs always loosens up my legs and along with the stings on my buttocks really give me the energy to get up and "schlepp" around. We didn't have time this morning to wait for more bees to come out from the Bee Hotel so I'll be making do with these 8 stings. But as I feel and maintain, the key thing with Bee Venom Therapy is to just keep it going and to keep a steady cousre of venom running through your system. Switch off the number of stings and the areas to be stung. Keep the body guessing. It's what seems to work for me.

Day 1063- 9:16 am - March 30, 2000 EST

Stung 10x this morning on my back, hips, buttocks, calves and feet.

Started and stung 1x on each side, 1x on each hip, 1x on each buttock. Then, 1x on each calf and 1x atop each foot above the large toe.

Moving along, feeling pretty good, waiting anxiously for Spring to really arrive and get back to outdoor stuff again.

The Bee Hotel has really been great and has certainly made the ability to have bees through the winter much easier than ever. I certainly recommend it.

Now, here's a letter from a fellow named John Vos who is looking to do what he can to discover the causes of MS and other auto-immune diseases. His letter is lengthy and along with it he has included a questionnaire. Please, take the time to support his efforts and in so doing support ourselves. He needs our help in responding to his questionnaire so as to receive more funding to further his study. His premise, in my opinion, is very sound and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to answer any of your questions directly.

To questionnaire and John Vos' open letter.

Day 1068- 11:19 am - April 4, 2000 EST

Stung 8x this morning on my back, hips and buttocks

Started and stung 2x down either side of my back, approx 3" from the spine. Then, 1x on each hip and 1x on each buttock. It never ceases to amaze me how stinging around my lower back and buttocks always has me running to the bathroom. A natural diahretic - and fast!

Well, the weather has gotten warmer - in the mid 50's and 60's but the rain has been pouring down. Well, at least it's not snowing and we're getting closer to the summer.

And the bees in the Bee Hotel are still going strong this week. It has been a while now and it's pretty amazing!

Day 1075 - 3:07 pm - April 11, 2000 EST

Stung 15x this morning on my sides, hips, buttocks, knees, calves and feet.

Started and stung 2x on each side. Then, 1x on each buttock and 1x atop the left thigh and 2x atop the right one. (2 bees were holding onto the tweezer's tip at the same time. Little extra dose, can't hurt. Then, 1x on each calf and 1x atop each foot.

Coleen, my physical therapist, is off from graduate school this week. She came by this morning and worked out with me - helping me to exercise. It was great and I'm so looking forward to seeing her once more before she heads back upstate.

There's so much of my body that I just don't move enough, like my hips. Another obstacle to moving "forward" in "balance" on my feet. But the bees get me up - up and "schlepping" with some decent energy. Not walking the way I'd like. That's what Bee Venom Therapy is all about - for me. Keeping the body's mechanisms as active as is possible. Which is why exercise _ of any kind - is so important. Every muscle - even our mouths - by talking. Besides talking though, every morning Carol, my wife, and I, lift hand weights. We have 2 and 3 and 5 lb.hand-weights all about the house. In the kitchen, bath, bedroom. So that whenever we're in " the mood" there they are - available and accessible. Carol's idea really, because I can find a million other things to think about and do - rather than pulling a weight. But it's important.

Day 1080 - 4:27 pm - April 16, 2000 EST

Stung 5x yesterday morning on my thighs and calves and right foot. Then I ran out of bees.

Coleen, my physical therapist came by again in the morning and this time she really had me exercising. Much more than usual and I really got tired. I suppose, had I done some more stinging it would have helped and given me more energy. It was what I had planned but. . .

John McCoy, the beekeeper from Franklin MT will be coming by today to check on his 11 hives that he keeps out back. He's a great guy - he takes the honey and cares for his hives but lets me use all the bees I need. I'm a blessed man! The Winter is over although it's still cool out. I'll take advantage of John coming by and ask him to grab a jarful of bees for me and give my kids a break. It'll be nice to see him again.

Day 1084 - 11:11 am - April 20, 2000 EST

Stung 13x yesterday morning on my back, hips, buttocks, thighs and feet.

Started and stung 1x on each side - below the armpit. Then, 2x on each hip and 1x on each buttock and 1x right above the crack on my butt. Then, 1x on each thigh and 1x atop each foot.

Those stings on and about my buttocks are the ones that have me not only getting up and moving but to the bathroom as well. Never fails.

John McCoy, the beekeeper from Franklin MT came by to check on his hives. Bummer, he says 5 of them didn't make it. He'll be replacing them but it's too bad. He doesn't know why, not yet anyway. It was great to see him again. He's a terrific guy.

Here's a letter from John Vos, the fellow who'd asked us to respond to his questionnaire. Several people wrote to me complaining about what he asked and his conclusions. I forwarded some of their mail and here is hi response. John rites:

". . . I will not reply to these people,
since they don't have to know that you forwarded their mail. But let me
tell you that in alternative medicine we have to put up a continuous
fight against "regular" medical science and the damage they have done to
the general public.
Fact is that M.S. is a form of arthritis and just about the worst one,
but I cannot go around telling patients that. I also have never said in
my messages that it an be cured as the lady claims.
Just read this transcript written by one of the leading professors in
medicine in the USA.

"Arthritis is only a name for another symptom and we must address the
causes of the symptoms, not
just the symptoms themselves. However most physicians are poorly
prepared by their schooling to offer more than very temporary relief. In
offices around the country, patients continue to be treated primarily
for symptomatic relief while continuing to grow more ill with each
passing day. Symptomatic, temporary, partial, relief is still the best
most doctors can offer. Allopathic treatments are at the expense of the
patient's health, due to the toxicity of the drugs employed."

What this really boils down to is the simple fat that the various family
doctors and the neurologists are the cause of Multiple Sclerosis, not
personally, by their lack of education on the workings of the human
body. If they had only been able to diagnose you properly in the
beginning, it would never have come this far. But people are so
indoctrinated by their parents and society that: "The doctor knows best"
makes then deaf for alternative ideas and methods.
I don't mind if you publish this or part of it.
Take care, JOHN VOS

Seems like a pretty straight ahead fellow to me.
